I bought this SEAT Ibiza at an auction without intending too and its disgusting, there's a reason no one else bid on it. Is this one even worth saving?

My car looks like this after every weekend Takes 1-2 hours to clean (Except the fungus and shit though)
The valeter was an absolute hero cleaning this coz of the contamination and the used needles in it. He deserves a medal
Fair play to the valeter, great job 🤢👏

I've seen much worse a Golf R which had been part of a repo. It was a 4 month old car the interior was an absolute mess stains everywhere but as a parting gift the guy took a shit in the boot ans smeared it everywhere and pissed on the drivers seat. I literally threw up at the sight and smell of it. I feel sorry for whoever actually owns that car now

Whatever they charged, it was a bargain price. :-)
Hold the old key onto the immobiliser ring and turn it over again. If that works and it stays running, all you need to do is swap the chips over. The old key can be split in two with a razor blade and the flip key comes apart but you need to remove the SEAT logo to get to the screw. The chips are glued in but careful scraping with a Stanley blade will get them loose. Practice on the flip key first!!! If you can't be bothered to proceed after that, you should get your money back by sticking it back in at Copart as a Run & Drive without the contamination warning. You could probably get £1200 on Facebook as it is! Personally, I'd stick with it. The wheels look standard to me, some of the Ecomotives had skinny wheels & trims.

Strangely, i felt sorry for the car to be honest as it was clearly just badly abused and so i think it would be interesting to see if you can at least get it up and running and driving/passing MOT. It's not gonna make you any money of course, but maybe you can raffle it off or something? Note for the future - don't buy blind on an auction Dean! LOL - Keep up the vids mate, they're awesome!
This is another great salvage project … It’s got a “ From rags to riches “ kinda feel to it. Give the car another well deserving life.👍🏻 Such an awesome channel.

More like "Riches to rags" :+)
You can use the old key near the barrel to stop the immuniser issue. If you can get the little glass chip out of the old key just put that into the new key and you’ll be golden 👍🏼
I bet that valet wasn't cheap but the poor guy earned every penny! 😂
Nice one and I don’t blame you. As a newly qualified main dealer tech. I think I would have been refusing to work on that. Don’t know what’s wrong with some people. Imagine what there house is like 🤢
New key, code it, get it running, get a set of used seat alloys with ok tyres on them, fix the nasty burn in the drivers seat, nice clean and sell it on for 2500. Demand and prices for VAG hatchbacks are quite ridiculously high so I bet this one will be just fine.

That interior came up really well, I thought it would run. This will make an interesting series fixing it up
A satisfying clean up and a will it start video all in one. Nice one Dean. Body and interior wise, if you can see past the crud it's a nice looking car and will do someone a good turn if you can get it running and driving properly. Stick with it, it's great content and this one will live to fight another day.
You owe it to the valeter to rescue it now after his death-defying feat. He deserves the King's Award for Industry for rendering that bio-hazard inhabitable once again. The scrappers are the most fun!
Really enjoyed this video, kudos to the detailed - great job! I look forward to you transforming it with a exterior valet and a running engine.
Definately keep on with it, its decent looking and needs saved, be a shame to see it scrapped. I love content like this Dean.
The car will make a good little runabout, now that the valeter earned a big tip! It's nice to see the variety of cars on the channel. It's boring when some other channels get stuck in an endless loop of exotic cars chosen because they're clickbait instead of good content. Keep posting little projects like this please!
Looks like it was used as dustbin rather than a car 😄 As you are "Saving Salvage" and have 'saved' quite a few cars in your time then this is another one that deserves your care an attention! I like seing these transformation type videos and this Seat certainly needs it! May not be too much profit in it but makes for great content!
swap the transponder fromthe original key. get a decent chinese scanner that can program security and keys. maybe 500 quid which you should have for your channel anyway and give it a whirl
This is the most relatable type of car to restore. Personally I’m really interested to watch you fix this one. Hope you tipped that valet!!!
Like you said your Chanel is called saving salvage. Keep on with it man! Even if you only make a couple of drinks on it you should do alright with the videos😂
Going by the tinted lights and it being lowered, I’m guessing some boy racers had it prior…probably had Halfords wheels on it too which they’ve kept. Is it on aftermarket suspension? Greta introduction video, looking forward to seeing how this progresses…
Mate, you've got a key, pop it open, see if there is a rice grain immobilizer chip in it and swap it over. Fixed. You can also try just holding the body of the old key against the ignition barrel to begin with too! The risk is that key that came with it is nothing to do with the car and won't work but nothing ventured nothing gained. I like the project. I'm a believer in cleaning value into a car, done it a few times. If you're willing to put the elbow grease in there are rewards to be had. Good luck.
To be honest mate, we've all had buyer's remorse at some time - whether it be looking at a car through rose-tinted glasses, impulse buying or whatever. Ya win some, ya lose some. However, the bodywork on that wee thing looks terrific and the interior has come up way better than I ever thought it would (and I reckon your Valet has a bloody strong stomach and is perfectly validated in his gesture - although I assume it's a friendly one and he's not telling you where to stick any future cars!), so that's two thirds the problem fixed.....and if the driveline is good, then I reckon you're quids in and could come out of this either breaking even or smelling like roses with a few in your back pocket. Definitely try what a few people have suggested and use the old button fob with the new key and see if that disables the immobiliser and lets it run. If so, you've just saved yourself 170 quid. The old Diseasel didn't sound terrible when she fired the second time, so hopefully it'd will come to life and do diseasel things when it's allowed to by the security system. Again, as someone else said, get those old rims off (yes, they are the standard rims minus hubcaps) and stick a set of 2nd hand SEAT alloys on (or something aftermarket 2nd hand that suits it) and she'll look the cat's whiskers. If she goes like the 1.4 litre turbo diesel in the VW Polo of 2006-8 vintage, it will be a fun little thing to drive and go like the clappers. Good luck and all the best!
The easiest way to deal with removing shear bolts is to use a small headed cold chisel on the edge of the bolt, a few taps and they start to turn, works a bit like an impact driver . Can bit a bit fiddly to get the hammer in, but less tricky than having a spinning disc so close to dash trim.
Keep on the great work love seeing this transformation can't wait for the next video.
Definitely been abused, lowered and the previous owner pinched the alloys back and bodged anything to fit. Auction fees are a killer. Should be money in it though if you can get it running 👍
Tom Ball got to the key trick before me but I can confirm it works. The wheels look original and just lack the trims. So I say stick with it as it will make good low value flip content and you could even make a few bob if it runs properly.
Pull the old fob apart. Inside the bladed part you'll see the transponder chip. Carefully remove it. Then pull the new key fob apart and remove the badge off the bladed part, under there is a small srew. Remove the screw and take it apart and remove the transponder chip and replace it with the one from the other fob and reassemble. Job done no need to spend money on a new key. Theres videos on you tube telling you how to reprogram the remote fob to unlock/ lock the car without any software and even with only one key.
Thanks for the mention of an air compressor. It reminded me that i had left my switched on in the shed. Last time i forgot i was awoken at 2am with the compressor kicking in :-(
As you said mate, nuts deep in to it..... again! Ha! Ha! Rinse, repeat! Got to of had a clutch by now, can't remember if they are chain or belt... but you're in to her now! Good content as always mate. Comment surrounding the key chip is about right too 👍🏻
Not forgetting the cost of wheels, tires and wheel bolts. Interested to see what you do with this one.
Your into it, and it has the potential to be a decent, economical drive. We have a petrol 1.4 the same colour and it’s more fun than you’d expect from a plain old hatchback. I’d love to see it up and running.
It's a win for us as this will be great content and looking forward to the next video. Hopefully you can track the parts missing or needed from the breakers. How about doing a viewer raffle at the end I would play?
Dangling wire probs plugs into the immobilizer ring transducer that normally sits around the key barrel - get a new one and hold the broken key inside it - then it will fire up fine - sounds totally fine for a diesel - worth £700 all day long working
There is always somebody in the market for a cheap runner to get them to work or kids to school. Love these make & Mend videos Dean. 👍
Those shear bolts on the ignition barrel come off quite easy with a hammer and punch, I've changed a few in my time, no grinding needed, just for future reference.
You've got the origional immoboliser chip and transponder that's linked to the ecu, just swap them over to the new key and barrel
Hey Dean, I thought the TVR was about as bad as it gets, but this Seat was nasty to say the least! Enjoyed it, my advice ... no more impulse buys, but we've all done it!
Hi Dean. If you bought that when "sober". Don't ever buy when you have had a drink. 😉. See you in the next one. 👍👍
Love it, that interior clean! Keep up the amazing Chanel, from New Zealand
Try putting the old key next to the ignition barrel and see if she will stay running. Or take the trim ring from the old barrel and the old key and tie them together away from the steering column and try to start the car.
I have the same bms engine but the sport coupe model, what oil should i use? It has 103k miles. 5-40w castrol was used in the last service but it says Repsol recommended. Any other problems that i may encounter? The car is fun to drive with the 81hp it has haha
👍 Give it a go mate, good 2 see it being saved & not thrown away.great content.
an O3 generator kills mould as well, you can grab them for not much from ebay. Deodorizes car smells as well
That blue head cable that I didn't know where it was going is connected to some keyboards that are put with the steering wheel housing behind to activate the radio the volume turn up the volume or lower the volume…It's to be able to control the radio when you're driving😅
Immobilisers usually throw up a pretty obvious immobiliser failure warning as soon as you turn the ignition on. No need to try starting it, it simply won't fire at all because the engine ECU hasn't been given permission to run the engine by the immobiliser.
This will make for great videos. Definitely worth saving it for the youtube audience entertainment alone. I for one will be looking forward to following the progress on this little car - it deserves to be saved.
Keep going with this one. It’ll be worth it bud. Maybe even £2k - £2.5k

Crack on cause you are into it now mate, well done 👏 look forward to all your clips 👍
Initial thoughts RANK! Made me feel sick how dirty the interior was... Good luck!
I thought I was a scruff lol, whoever's left that car in that state needs help, I have every faith you can sort it pal. great content yet again
Full engine service. Get the steering wheel re-covered or get a replacement (as it was naaaaasty). And a full set of wheel bolts and some plastic trims. MOT and flip it quick....
Why not try gluing the transponder of the immobilizer from the broken off key into the new key? Is is soldered to a circuit board? If not, you could save on that new key..
Budget rebuilds are pretty cool! Fair play to the detailed tho! You could run it as a daily when it’s done. Be cheap to run
I'm sure you could program a new key with the software you have. As long as that engine is good a quick tidy up, a cheap set of wheels and there must still be a little profit in it for you
Love the vlogs mate. Keep up the good work
Yes give ita chance. You could break it for parts. As someone said get it running and relist it will be great to watch either way
Wagggoooonnn! Your valeter needs a medal! Good content and you are right, you are saving salvage - needs some wheels, good first car for someone
Can't you swap the chip from the old to the new key? Even holding it next to the coil on the ign lock may work.
What make and model is that wet hoover that that valeting hero uses? Also, what shampoo? Awesome job.
Thanks you've made me feel like mines not too bad even after bales of shavings hay and alorts else have been shoved in it.
Love it! You should play salvage roulette more often 😂
The screen shot LOL 😂 Some people truly are disgusting, can you imagine the house…
hi Dean, this video made me laugh, I've impulsed bought also 😄 not a great start and as mentioned fair play to your valeter not a job for me! I've got a focus 2013 and the lad got a key coded no problem so ask the guy to try yours first who knows nothing ventured eh.....looking forward to the next instalment good job
That's worth sticking with, you'll get a decent profit on that. And that valeting jib has added value to it too
Does the MOT history give an idea of how it has been abused and suggest what will be required for a new one? I would check the brakes, tyres, suspension, electrics, etc, to get an idea of what else needs to spent on it. Doesn't look too bad under the bonnet and it will look loads better with correct wheelstuds and a set of wheeltrims. Maybe get your valet guy to polish it.
I’ve seen this before, some druggy Homeless person finds an abandoned open/ stolen car and they live in it for a while before it gets taken away
Can you not remove transponder ring from old barrel, hold old key fob against it plugged in then turn the new key, should make the immobiliser work to test it as done that with a polo in the past when put aftermarket flip key in it and worked for 3 years
Think the wheels might not even have the right bolt pattern hence only having 2/3 nuts each. Great little project, I really enjoy these ones.
Some, lets say it nicely... "Numpty" probably tried to steal it, realised they couldnt so they stole the wheels. the wheels and nuts are whatever someone could find so it could be moved. i once as a trainee mechanic went on a call out to collect a car with stolen wheels. the car was against a wall pretty close and we barely had enough room to get in and put temp wheels on. as an added bonus they refitted the locking wheel nuts to make it more awkward for us. little did they know we carried a selection of locking wheel nut keys on our trucks and one actually fit, not perfect but was enough to get the nuts off. i wonder if its worth swapping transponders in the key fob... yes i know key and barrel are different but if ECU recognises it, will it not start/run in that sense... im not 100% sure but since you have the fob i would try. maybe it would save you a few quid with key guy as you would then just be resetting it basically... he doesnt seem that helpful without you buy/pay more to my way of thinking but i could easily be wrong.
I guess the problem is that you use a non-original key with the immobilizer of the car. The black ring around the key hole is an antenna/coil and the cable that's hanging out of the steering wheel is most likely the antenna cable that connects to the coil. You can find a small piece inside the old key housing which has a number on it. That is a small tag that can be read by the antenna/coil. You can put it in the new key so the car thinks it's the old one. If you have one key, you should be able to pair a new key to that car or start it with the old chip.
The fact somebody would treat their car like that... A running car would be a blessing for me, and some people just treat it like a skip. Huge props to the valeter for making it look so good.
Sell it to Chops Garage. He loves a challenge😂
Hi Dean, use the old key fob and new blade. That way it's free, I have done this before 😀
Try putting the old key on top of the barrel finger crossed 🤞 that will bypass the immobiliser
@0:17 That is great, but it is a gamble noneseless. Experience and instinct can trump extensive research. Let alone that cars have part value that is often higher than the purchase price. E. g. if you buy a Bentley, you know it is a high roller game and even insignificant damage can ruin your day.
Am loving this. A good challenge for you. Its good content loads of potential
No disrespect to you but it's nice to see a bottom end vehicle on your channel. A man of your ability will have it sorted out no probs. 👍👍👍
Awesome transformation. Fingers crossed this is the ugly ducking before it turned into a beautiful swan. Be patient. Brilliant video. Keep it up.
Hello mate! I have a serious problem with my car Audi a4 b7 break 2.0 TDI BPW engine. At every startup (cold or warm) my car blow white/blue smoke on the exaust pipes. No mechanic cant say exactly what it is. So far i replaced the turbo (new one from GARRET) , the head gasket with the gas purifier, and clean up the EGR/PCV valve. And that stupid smoke is still there every time i start up the engine. WHAT TO DO ....i run out of money lol.
The oil might be on max, but it looks like metallic sludge. I would change that for some cheap Triple QX or Mannol oil.
Fantastic video, recently subscribed to your channel, thoroughly enjoying it. I think financially you have to stick with it. If you are currently £500 in the red from its scrap value, but still below its possible sell on value then sense dictates you have to keep on. But I don't think you will make much or anything from it. However you did say yourself thar the channel is Saving Salvage and you are being true to yourself. How many viewers might think you were untrue to your title if you just scrapped it. Anyway, keep going .
Piss and rats. Great start 😂😂😂however I am looking forward to you facing the challenge of getting this back up and running. Good luck mate
Good one. Ibiza are one of my favourite little cars. Save it. Will make a great first car for someone

I just commented the same, I'm a mechanic and have changed a few ignition barrels in my time and can confirm they come out real easy with a hammer and punch
pull new key apart only need blade part hold old key you have hanging up near black ring around barrel and try start it
It's been a labourers car on site. Standard interia. If you have the original key but snapped holding the body next to the steering column might remove the immobilizer. Good luck but I feel your close to the cars value already.
This might be a great give-away car to use as a raffle or fundraiser. Raised funds would cover your outgoings any profit would go to a charity. Especially a gift for someone who really needs a car to improve their life and give them a boost up. Someone out there needs a reliable run about for sure.
The screenshot from the valeter got me howling with laughter 😂😅
It would be cheaper to have the ecu no immo'd. They just remove the immo function and you can start the car. I actually used to own one of these Ibizas but a petrol one. It was really cheap to own but other than that it wasn't much of a car.

that is a diesel car, you have to wait for the heater plugs to go out on the dash before starting it , and that is the coil spring icon on the dashboard. you turn it just before the starting point and wait for the icon to go off then turn the key fully.
I think it's an excellent car to bring a bit of variety to the channel. Fast cars are great, but this is a little random, and deserves fixing. It's not even that old, just unfortunate to have been with someone who didn't care/appeared to be living in it.
Talking about "sweeping it under the carpet" 🤣🤣
If that was me, I would take the chip out of the old key fob and put it in the new key fob or if you can’t take the chip out, just use the blade of the new key and hold the old key near the barrel while starting it
Probably just about worth doing as long as it runs ok. Reckon you should be able to get your money back at least… maybe even a small profit in there for you. I know it’s a bit of a gamble but it’s the sort of content I like, want to do something similar myself actually so if you can pull this off I might have a go at something myself 👍
I had an old Audi a2 with the 3cylinder diesel it was an old 2002 with 180,000 miles on it and it came in for an abs fault which actually turned out to be a running fault with it coz it wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding. The injectors have a ball on top of them and the rocker arm has a socket which fits together and someone had fitted an aftermarket injector to it which was a flat top and had ruined the rocker arm and Audi didn’t do the arm or injector anymore and vw did an injector which was insane money worth more than the car is worth and trying to get one secondhand was a nightmare and in the end the customer ended up scrapping the car.
Must be something about 2010 Ibizas , as it seems to be a clone of what my daughters interior on her car was. We were going to PX it and I refused to get near it and gave the job to clean it to the local 'valeters' . Poor sods..... But her replacement Focus has also the same 'disease' with floor mats hidden below crap and probably as much virus's as that one had...............
