I really appreciate your demonstration of the autofocus on this camera. For that reason it is the best review I have seen so far. I would definitely buy this camera, as it looks perfect for what I need, but I don't think I can trust the autofocus. Using Panasonic I have wasted too much time making videos only to realize afterwards that the focus was off. Thanks. Great review.

Thanks for the helpful review and I loved how you shared your decision at the end because not a lot of reviewers do that and it is SO annoying. LOL. I have seen so much hate on the ZV1-F but every time I see a side by side, I tend to still like how the ZV1-F looks. I know the auto-focus is not as fast as the ZV-1 but the fact that it can still focus is not a big deal to me.

yay!! i'm glad the review was helpful :) the auto focus can definitely be tricky but i changed the touch focus from the default "tracking focus" to "spot focus" and its so much better

Good video. It's nice to see an opinion from an honest, real world perspective rather than from a camera snob that looks at a camera like this as a toy rather than a capable piece of gear. Good work.

You offered up an interesting perspective on the two cameras. Personally, I keep going back and forth between the ZV-1F and ZV-E10. There is a big difference in price, but the latter just seems like a much more flexible option with the added advantage of better autofocus.

I definitely love what i've seen of the zv-e10, and i'm considering purchasing it in the future because of the interchangeable lens. But the main thing that's stopping me is how much bigger it is, its not as subtle. Super jealous of how amazing the autofocus is though.

You made the right decision, I also bought a ZV-1F even though I already have A7C.

Thanks for the review! I'm a beginner looking to move out of using an iphone for video/photography and looking for a first camera. Been between the ZV1 + ZV1F but it seems like every video that isn't sponsored doesn't really do a fair comparison and completely leans towards the ZV1 (or at least the comment section does). In Canada there's a $350 difference between the two so it's tough to make the choice but your video was super helpful!

I'm glad it helped! I completely agree. I've definitely noticed that sponsored reviewers will be more biased towards the camera but creators who already use more professional gear for film / cinematic purposes don't really like it. But for someone who just wants a small camera for casual vlogging but still wants to upgrade from the iphone, its pretty convenient!

The audio of the zv-1f is way fricking better than the zv-1!! & a great review btw.. are you filipina? you speak english very well.. gosh the accent!! 🔥🔥

Me too, I’m going through many vids from KZread & true that many ppl seems saying 1f ain’t good enough instead mark 2 is better but I still go ahead & bought it😅 I mean zv-1f, definitely no regrets & ❤-ing it😊😁

YES! I just recently purchased the ZV1F and I like it! The autofocus does suck but you get to used to it. I wanted something I could just take out and start recording, and that's exactly what this is. For a beginner/ someone that just wants to whip out and start recording (me)/ someone that used to vlog but is now returning and wants to up their game first before investing more (also me), this camera is perfect. Such a great review!! You just gained another sub :) Def keep up with these videos!

thank you for subscribing!!! but yes the autofocus is not the best but its definitely better than i expected. its been so much fun using it because its so simple.

You should check out the ZV-E10. That's the one I use and it's great. It has a debatable lens and uses the E mount lens so it uses the same lens as the Sony Alpha series.

I just got the zv1 and I’m still thinking about switching for this one. The things I don’t like is the mic and zoom. Also i found the auto focus in low light is really bad 😢

Well compared video! And I definitely noticed the color tone of zv1f to be more red-ish, which is like canon as you mentioned, otherwise Sony has mostly been at the yellower side. Do you think while editing you can see clear difference in video quality? It seems to me that zv1 still has slightly better quality.

When editing and even playing back previous videos with my zv1 compared to the zv1f, i personally think that the zv1f has better quality. That could potentially be just because I'm biased and I enjoy the color science much better on the zv1f. If I try looking at it from strictly quality and not the color tone, i don't think there are drastic differences between either of them especially if color grading isn't an issue. Hope that helps :)

I love my ZV-1F i'm currently making a cinemagraphic movie with it with a lens i custom built(as far as the mount goes) that brings it from 20mm to 18mm (equivalent with active stabilization: 25mm to 23mm) i am also working on a mount for a anamorphic lens to see if that will work

I love my ZV-1F! I don't mind the issues with the autofocus, it works fine for me as a music content creator. & I don't mind zoom either. & there's a lot of good stuff with it. I don't understand why most people on youtube hate this camera, when there are a lot of things to love💗

I agree! And even now after using it for a longer period of time, the quality looks great and I don't have as many issues with auto focus as I thought I was going to

I just got this camera and I love it! for the price i think it is an amazing camera!

I mainly use ZV-1 to make my videos. If I had the option of buying ZV-1F, it would be used as my secondary camera, maybe for b-rolls or 2nd angle view :D

What was that you are recording the audio with? Is that a mic?

I was talked into buying the SV1F by my wife because she likes the very compact size o it. I thought the SV1F is just an extension of a mobile phone camera. Taking videos on my mobile phone takes up too much space on phone's internal memory. One other reason I bought the SV1F was because I am tired of lugging a mirrorless Olympus together with a flash when on travelling. It gets heavy as the day passes and caused me to have shoulder ache by the end of the day. I still consider buying another compact camera with 1 inch size sensor and should come with built in flash and EVF if possible.

I like mine. Wish it was a little larger. The sensor isn't 1 inch, but it's good enough..nice specifications. Using it as my close in "B" camera..

I got the sony ZV1F the day it came out and I am obsessed with it. I always want use it. I currently have 3 camera that I use the SonyA6100, Canon M50 and this one. I always embrassed to vlog with my mirrorless cameras. I do use my cameras for Professional use and my youtube channels. I think that as a professional camera (SONY ZV1F) does not work. I think it gets bad review cause people expect a professional level camera if its stand alone camera. This definetly more of camera for someone who wants more then an iphone but doesnt need a mirrorless or DSLR

there is 256gb sd card that is $15 but it is a low speed one, even $20 is just a medium speed depending on brands. some brands has the highest speed for just $20 and don't forget to looks for sale

Do you get a lot of focus hunting or weird warping in the background? I seem to have that happen with this camera and I think I saw it when you were outside (starting at 3:22). I don't know how to fix it.

hi! ive noticed that the background does do this weird jitter occasionally and its been an issue in other youtube reviews that i've watched. Some people have recommended using sony's catalyst browse software which i personally haven't tried yet. It should get rid of the background wrapping and help with stabilization!

If you're referring to the background being blurry, both the zv1 and zv1f have a feature called background defocus which you can turn on and off with the C1 button

def like the new camera more i think ur right about the color I feel like the last camera made u and ur background look dull. this looks more vibrant and similar to real life.

Main issue is stabilisation and AF. If you can get a smartphone from Sony (1-2 years old Xperia 1 III for example) with better stabilisation and AF. Yeah you need to spend a bit more for the 1 inch Xperia Pro i but Sony does wonderful smartphones that are by default offering a better vlogging experience. Not even talking about editing and uploading that you can do on the phone directly aswell.
