I bought my own airplane!! Meet "Debi" the 1966 C33A Beechcraft Debonair
Ойын-сауық
The Debi Debut!
Wanted to give everyone a quick tour of my new airplane, the 1966 C33A Beechcraft Debonair. I'm so happy to be able to say that I am now an airplane owner, a dream I've had since I became a pilot four years ago.
A background about me,
I’m an over 1000 hour CFI as well as an Instrument Rated Commercial Pilot ASEL/MEL and Ferry Pilot for Premier Aircraft Sales.
I have over 500 hours in high performance aircraft.
After Post Notes
Yes this is a McCauley Prop, not Hartzell!
The IO520 produces 285HP (not 280)
Still getting the hang of making these videos, so appreciate the understanding all 😊
Hope you enjoy- and can't wait to share our adventures with all of you!

So happy there are many new subscribers here! Appreciate the support and want to introduce myself. A background about me, I’m an over 1000 hour CFI as well as an Instrument Rated Commercial Pilot ASEL/MEL and Ferry Pilot for Premier Aircraft Sales. I have over 500 hours in high performance aircraft, and absolutely love learning anything in aviation. My next goal is my Seaplane Rating, as well as work on my AMP so I may understand my aircraft to a higher level, as well as work on it! Please keep comments kind, and remember not to judge a book by its cover. After Post Notes Yes this is a McCauley Prop, not Hartzell! I am soooooo freaking jealous! Makes me wish I would have fallen in love with flying when I was young enough to do something about it. Guess I'll stick with RC...😢😢
In the late 60's I was a cadet in Civil Air Patrol and our unit's cadet Captain Owned the 'V'-tail version. An absolute dream to fly. Congratulations on getting 'Debi'.
I used to maintain one of these for a flight school. I will tell you that they are extremely well built and over-engineered. A couple of things to watch out for are: 1) leaky fuel bladders, 2) the factory elevators were made of magnesium and are prone to severe corrosion (aluminum replacements are available).
Ditto...remember tenn fly girl tragedy...had a Debonair too.. Beautiful plane...just be safe!

CONGRATULATIONS, Hayley!! I think you did very well with your purchase and the plane will undoubtedly serve you well.
Debi is so pretty,! She seems to have good "bones". It will be nice to modernize that panel and let Collins have their museum radios back 😜 What a great gig; fly new Diamonds for work and enjoy a classic Beech for fun! We will enjoy watching your adventures. Safe flying!

Hayley is also pretty ...
That's a beautiful airplane, and I'm not even much of a plane guy. She's got a great mid-60's classic look to her, like a mid-60's Corvette or Ferrari. I love that she carries 4 people too. Classic planes are like classic sailboats..... Beautiful lines, real character. With old boats we say "she's got great bones" meaning she might be a little scruffy to look at but the guts of the boat are solid, and she's 100% worthy of a refit. Can't wait to see what you do with the panel.
As a long time admirer and pilot of Beechcraft products and a Bonanza owner- Welcome to the family!!! You have so many wonderful resources such as the American Bonanza Society, ABS Air Safety Foundation, and the wonderful folks at the Beechcraft Heritage Museum to support your exciting ownership of "Debbie"! The "Beech Party" fly-in at KTHA is held at the museum every October and is a wonderful get-together for all Beechcraft owners (and a chance to see everything that Beechcraft ever built)...would love to see you there! And, of course there are the great social activities and training/seminars of ABS. Safe travels!

Thankyou!! I’m taking the ABS course now and am loving it. Good to be apart of the fam!
Debi is gorgeous! Beechcraft designed some timeless airframes and this is one of them. She’s definitely ready for a new panel and (I’m freely spending your money here) possibly the IO550 STC. Read everything you can from Mike Busch…he’s the real deal. I built N36LV, which cruised at 200 kts true. From Mike’s teachings, I was safely able to burn either 18 gph ROP using fuel as an expensive coolant or give up 5 kts and burn 13 gph using extra free air as a coolant LOP. Best of luck….she’s special!
Your happiness was so evident! Congrats!
I think you are awesome. My husband is from an aviation community. His parents still live on an airport (S36). He grew up knowing a few WASP pilots from WW2. They have all since passed away but what amazing women and tremendous pilots. Flying all kinds of different military aircraft . The airport currently has several female pilots, some airline pilots. People can be quick to judge as you say which is unfortunate. We wish you all the best.
Congratulations on your recent Beechcraft purchase. We bought an F33A ten years ago, and have really enjoyed it. They are such a capable and comfortable travelling machine. Enjoy!
Hello Hayley, I have owned a Bonanza F33A for for 26 years. It is a wonderful airplane. Congratulations on buying Debbie. Good luck. I just upgraded my panel, with two GI 275s, Garmin GTN 750 xi and a GFC 500 autopilot. You will get there.
Beautiful Debonair, Hayley! Wishing you the best in your resto mods and safe flying. 😊
Man, that's fantastic. Congratulations! You and Debi go and enjoy some fantastic adventures!
What a nice bird. Congratulation! And always happy landings...
Congratulations and happy flying. Can’t wait to see some more videos. Be safe out there.!
Good luck, and will be (im)patiently waiting to see the upgrades to your panel , and WHY you chose those particular items. Owning/upgrading a 50-60-year old aircraft is a commitment!
My dad had a V tail Bonanza when he was flying in the 60 and 70s for his businesses. I still remember riding along as a young lad off of the air strip on our farm near Omaha NE. Your plane is very nostalgic and cool! (:
As an “old coot” who’s loved flying since I was a teenager, I’m so happy for you and your new Debi! Ignore the naysayers! As one of my favorite online instructors likes to say, “A good pilot is always learning!” If I had the time, I’d be out there getting a PPL! Blue skies and more power to you! 🦅
I know very little about the Debonair. I am from Truckee just over the hill and fly a Cessna 310R. I used to own a Cessna 182 and moved up to a 310R in 2005. My wife would never fly with me in the 182 so I moved up to the 310 for that reason. I have landed in Minden countless times and even took lessons when I was getting my Multi. I flew a Seminole in Minden with an older female instructor and an older French guy. however I cannot remember their names. The older female instructor was really good. Learned a lot from her. Did a lot of single engine work in that seminole. Loved your video and your airplane looks like it will give you many years of great flying and great memories. Keep the blue side up and fly safe. -David... Truckee CA
Congrats Hayley. Welcome to the Beechcraft Family. I am a proud owner of a 1990 F33A. These are great airplanes. Looking forward to sharing your journeys online. Keep up the great content you are posting. You will be a true inspiration to young pilots and general aviation
30 year old engine ? shes got lots of life left, I flew a cherokee for many, many years with a 53 year old engine, never a problem, misfire cough or anything, it just ran and ran and still runs strong today. Dont know if you watch Savvy Aviation, hes got a cessna 310 with engines that ran past TBO twice already and still going strong. You have a beautiful airplane and you are very beautiful so its a match lol. New subscriber, have fun with Debi, will keep an eye open for you and Debi at Oshkosh.
Congratulations on your new acquisition. Beech Bonanza is the first airplane I had a ride in. I had the honor of meeting Susanne Beech Warner several years ago at EAA Oshkosh.
Congratulations on the new airplane ! All the best and enjoy your many adventures to come!
Congrats, she is a beauty. The Bonanza has always had classic lines that never look out dated. By the way, your Hartzell prop sure looks like a McCauley.

Thanks! 😂 I know I caught that too after I finished the video- It is definitely a McCauley
Can't wait to see it once you get your Garmin 1000 package installed! WooHooo! 👏👏👍👍
Beautiful plane, thanks for sharing Hayley!!
I've been flying for a lifetime. If I had a Bonanza, a 33 Debonair would be my choice. I am content, though with my 1971 Cherrokee Arrow 200. Smallest and fastest non turbo Arrow. Fly safe!
Beautiful! Congrats! I'll never forget the day I bought my first aircraft.
cant wait for the video of you restoring the plane and flying it after
WOW!! What an AMAZINGLY beautiful "older" plane. I absolutely love the look of these Beechcraft's and I can't believe the great condition it's in. It looks terrific and can't imagine how happy and proud you must be! I'm a new subscriber and your video hit my feed tonight because I am a plane and flight enthusiast. I missed my window for becoming a pilot and that is most definitely a regret but at least I can fly with Microsoft flight sim so I almost know what it must be like to pilot such an aircraft. Anyway, just wanted to drop a quick note to say WOW and Congrats on such an achievement! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the interior. Good luck and best wishes for many happy hours of flight time in your new love! :)😄

You sound very much like me in that I too am an aircraft and aviation enthusiast that unfortunately waited too long to get my private pilots license and am now considering buying a simulator so that I can at least safely emulate what real pilots experience in the cockpit of the aircraft they fly. This Beechcraft is a beautiful aircraft and appears to be in very nice condition considering how old it is. If I were to become a private pilot this is the type of plane that I would love to fly. Retractable landing gear and with a three blade propeller are really nice to have. I didn’t know that a three blade prop would be quieter in the cockpit as I had just assumed that it was for better performance. Good luck with your simulator flying. It’s better than nothing and from watching KZread videos there are simulators on the market that are very good at being very realistic if one is willing to spend the money. I am going to probably start out with something that is entry level like one Microsoft makes and if I find it to be enjoyable gradually work my way up to more sophisticated systems over time.
Nice, that's one of the first ones built! I'm the happy owner of serial #CE-114 and a CFII here. You made a good choice for a first plane.
A pleasure to see you in the air...you are a true professional. My plane was a Grumman 160 hr Cheetah N160TX. I miss her! Happy flying in your new Beech.!
Didn’t see shoulder harnesses. That should be your first upgrade. Cheers! 😊
Happy Flying! I love your plane! Wish I could fly my own plane some day! Be safe!
I was drooling over this Deb on TaP for more than a little while ... congratulations!
Hayley, I never been in a small craft like yours. Take up with you. I would love it.
What a truly beautiful plane and congratulations on acquiring her. I wish you many countless hours of smiles and adventure in Debi.
its in great nick for its age happy days
Love Beechcraft. I plan on getting a 360ER in the next year or two. Gratz on your new plane!!!
She's really sweet and strong. Looking forward to seeing the upgrades.
So happy that you’ve realized this and made your dream come true! Take care of her and she will take care of you. Looking forward to seeing more adventures with Hayley and Debi 🤗
Congratulations. Great plane. Many upgrades over the B35 I flew many years ago it had upgraded radios and was IFR rated but before GPS was out. Fuel management was most important to get down. Pressurized carburetor puts fuel back into the left tank (pumps more than it burns). I used left tank, Right tank, aux tank and then land on fullest main tank usually left. Your POH may be different. 66’ was the year I graduated HS 😂. Blue skies and tail winds coming your way
Just started watching your channel. Love it so far. You are very humorous and a beautiful lady with a beautiful smile. You knowledge is very in depth. I watch several aviation pages and yours is now my favorite. Can’t wait to see more “Debbie” videos.
Congratulations on your "new" plane, she's beautiful! My grandfather had a twin tail Bonanza that was an amazing plane. May Debie treat you well
"60s" by John Michael Howell -- PERFECT song for the beginning of the video. Very nicely done. 👍💙
Congrats! My son and I just purchased a 1959 Piper Comanche 250. It is both terrifying and exhilarating to own a piece of history like this. Looking forward to following your enjoyment of your own beautiful airplane. We looked into various Beechcraft models. Just a little too out of our price range. But they sure are fantastic aircraft.
AWESOME plane 🤗👍👌✨ Some nice upgrades will be great too ! Can't wait to see ! 👌✨
New subscriber here. Fantastic airplane. My home FBO changed to Beechcraft just after I earned my PPL in Grumman American back in 1975. First thing I remember is shutting the door for the first check out flight and the air noise ceased. I only flew the basic planes for several years. Later I got a chance to fly a V tail bonanza. Loved the flip over yoke. Enjoy this purchase and treat her right. Looking forward to seeing more videos.
How exciting, congratulations!!! ❤
Can't wait to see you make it your own over time. Enjoy the ride!
Congratulations, that's a superb aeroplane
Congrats! She’s a beauty! Enjoy!
Congrats on ownership of your first plane. It will be a great learning experience. I went much simpler airplane for my first, but similarly upgraded panel and will be painting and tweaking interior next, looking forward to seeing your upgrades!
Beautiful Aircraft. Just enjoy the most you can. Our life is too short. Fly safe.
Congratulations on your beautiful aircraft, she is a wonderful aircraft and I wish you nothing but safe flights and enjoyment of your new aircraft ❤
Awesome airplane! Enjoy for many years to come!
Though I was almost but not quite a kindergartner when Debi was assembled, something about the outro music really brought the 60s to mind.
Congrats...safe travels!!
That airplane still looks brand new and modern in 2024. Beautiful paint job!

Thanks! The previous owner took good care of her :) Paint was actually done around 20 years ago
Congratulations Hayley on your airplane. It looks amazing.
Beautiful! Awesome buy, refreshing to hear someone who clearly loves aviation and planes not fame or you tube we hope!
Beautiful bird, we had an F35 for a number of years (late 90's, early 00's). Dad had a B35 back in the late 1960's. Tough as nails airplanes, like a mini P51 we always thought. 😎👍👍
Congratulations !!!! 🎊 Beautiful plane…..you’re going to have a blast !! Before worrying about a fancy interior….maybe upgrade radios….30 yr old engine. Stick to important things and then the frills. Gotta keep you safe !!!! Cameras are great….have fun ….but fly the plane first …..you’re going to do great !!! 😀🇨🇦

A beautiful woman flying a beautiful aircraft. It doesn’t get much better than that. I grew up at a Department of Transport aka DOT airport back when there were housing complexes for the people who worked for the DOT so I got to have an up close look at a lot of different aircraft and these Beechcraft were one of my favourites just for how they looked. This one is in gorgeous condition and with a few upgrades to the avionics this woman is going to have herself a wonderful aircraft. Safety first is never so important as it is with aviation as you often don’t get to just walk away from your mistakes. Hopefully she makes it a priority over anything that is just cosmetic in her flying future.. I only wish that I would have pursued my private pilots license when I was younger but I had other priorities back then and now I’m just going to have to be content with a flight simulator. I see so many people who are truly enjoying their foray into aviation and it sure does look like it would be a lot of fun not to mention a wonderful way to see the world.
Congratulations in your purchase!. One of the first upgrades that I would recommend, a new baffling system for the engine and engine monitor. They are not very glamorous but it will assist you by keeping running the engine within acceptable/recommended parameters. Otherwise you are flying “blind”. Also, subscribe to ABS and Beechtalk. Many people in those forums will be more than happy to assist you.
Congratulations on your purchase and greetings from Minden Ontario.
Nice plane, cleanest hanger I have seen lately.
Lets go, Hayley! Get that picture up on flight aware! Good job, girl.
Such a nice airplane, I love Beachcraft. Looking for more of your videos. The
Congratulations on the purchase of this great looking Debonair, I am sure you will enjoy flying it, even more once you get a nicer set of radios and avionics. I will look forward to seeing new videos about the airplane and adventures you go on with it. Good luck
Awesome. You will be able to fly many places to see this great country.
Good looking airplane she will look even better with some upgrades hope you have many hours of fun with her ❤

Is a perfect machine! Beautiful, perfect in all the ways. You can have an unforgettable ride. Oh! The airplane is nice. 😅
Congrats on all your achievement... Looks like a nice ship, enjoy and best wishes.
Yeah, "Boni" wouldn't have the charm "Debi" does. Congrats on your beautiful purchase. Just subscribed so I can live vicariously through your channel. Thank you for posting, Hayley!
AMAZING shape for 58 years old! WOW!
I love the burgundy color !!!!!! Very nice !
Wishing you all the best with your new plane!

Beech truly does make some of the most stunning planes, amazing choice. cant wait to see what you do with debi!!
Hayley, welcome to the BMW of general aviation! 👍
Congrats! The planes looks great for being 57 years old.
Congratulations !!!!
CONGRATULASIONS from The Netherlands !!! Truly amazing that this is YOUR PLANE 😀 !!
Beautiful plane. It reminds me of the Cherokee I used to fly in years ago. 😊
Congrats and many happy flying hours.
Obsolete? CLASSIC! Still, when safety and lives are at stake, upgrades cannot be recommended enough! Even with a glass panel, Debi will still turn heads. 😎
I'm really happy for you stay safe.
Welcome to KMEV. Had my Mooney M20F there and live about 5 minutes from the field. Love the Debs
The internet is such a wild, wild place! To think that Debi was being produced (manufactured) when I was graduating from high school in Long Beach, CA. My dad worked at Douglas aircraft (there in LB) from about 1950 to 1970. And as kids, we would do CRAZY things---like, run out on to the runway and so on. And security would chase us off. But we could always see them coming a mile away! LOL Anyway, Debi has as many miles on her as I do--or vice versa. I ended up living in Mexico (!) and Debi ended up in your O so capable hands! Enjoy! Fly safely, etc. But have fun. (OH! A friend of mine got his license at about age 16 (????) there in Long Beach. My first flight was with him: Long Beach to Solvang, CA. 'About 126 miles. Jim (my friend and the pilot) still has log books showing our flights from the 60s. 'What a long, strange trip it's been.) (sigh)
