I Bought My First Motorcycle (1996 Honda Rebel 250)

The beginning of a new era? I've wanted to do this for a long time. I took the motorcycle course last fall in Decatur, IL, and got my M license. On Friday I bought a 1996 Honda Rebel CMX250 and I'm ready to re-learn everything I learned last year and improve my skills. Hopefully I'll be out on the road soon.

It's been over 3 decades ago, but I still remember the first time I rode a bike, very similar to this, around the main building in our university campus. You're gonna be riding this beauty with confidence in no time. Which reminds me: I used to say, you can tell a biker is happy by the flies stuck between the teeth, but now I say never, ever, yield to the temptation of riding without your helmet on. As I said, It's been over 3 decades ago, and a friend of mine is still under the care of his (now very old) parents, from a head injury that should have been a mere concussion. Yeah, I'm a big believer in protective gear and taking my time learning. I'm getting registration and insurance taken care of today and will be able to venture out on the road. We live in the country so very tame backroads are plentiful.

That's actually my workshop/art studio. I occupy half of a small barn. I haven't put any of my art content on this channel yet, but it's coming.
Looks like a nice bike. Think was using a 125cc Rebel when took a safety course to get my license some years back.

It's a pretty tried and true design with a bulletproof engine. This one only has 4000 miles on it. I think it will serve me well until I'm ready to move up.
