Man, you really lucked up on that train set, you will probably double your money on that find. I have been looking at vintage Lionel train sets on Ebay and they are around 130.00 and up

Not post war, probably the late 60's. But not that bad of a price I guess.

Actually post war was 1945 - 69 so it would be late post war.

The only problem with Trains is they are depreciating as the collectors are all dying off. As the guy explains kids (and adults) don't collect stuff really and don't have any interest in trains. I inheriated a huge collection and luckily sold it off over a year (7 years ago) and now those trains would all be 50% or more less.

That’s a really good point. I thought about this exact same thing not that long ago because I collect vintage snowboards. They have a lot of value now but one day no one will probably care about my boards. It’s sad to think about.

@@themidwestshredder yep. Big items aren’t easy to sell for folks. I have a whole self of worthless hummels too. The only thing I know that holds value or increases is sports memorabilia and sports cards. My dad loved his trains and it brought him joy. I’m glad he had them…but as far as him thinking they would pay for my kids college..not so much.

That’s not true. Trains are still very popular. Every time I visit model train clubs there are always young kids playing with trains. Especially o gauge and Ho gauge. The train you have is a Lionel scout. I have one they run great. Trains are still very popular hobbies. They’re not rare though. So it’s not worth much in the long run though. It’s more of a runner but having the track transformer and cars makes it worth more. I think anywhere from 100$ to 130$ would be fare.
