To extend the life of your grips, store your clubs in your house (out of the heat) and wash them with a dish soap periodically. BTW, I work at a major golf store and replace hundreds of grips a week.

maybe you would know, why do MCC +4 use soft rubber on lower hand? i was MCC lower rubber feel but with +4 but that doesn’t exist does it?

All a matter of preference. I like corded grips on my woods, wraps on my irons, and tour velvet on my wedges. Different feels for different clubs.

I’ve been fitted for MCC +4 midsize, used to just have the standard grips but the +4 midsize feels better in my hands and gives me more control of the club face

I've just switched to the golf pride tour wrap. Absolutely love them, even when wet they stick. Love the midsize.

Love the presentation and attitude. Been using CP2 grips for last 5 yrs - v comfortable, long lasting and great feel.

I really liked this video! As a novice golfer of a few years, I get caught up with what grip is right for me. I’ve learned to regrip my own clubs and have tried different things. For my woods I like midsized +4 mcc grips… for my irons I prefer the feel of standard tour velvets… and for my wedges I love the Winn master wraps.. it’s all about the feel. Really appreciated the video!!

I'm at about the same stage as you in my golf journey and also learning that I prefer different styles and sizes for different clubs. I have yet to experiment with an +4MCC yet so maybe next season I'll give it a whirl on a random club.

Thanks to your video on regripping your clubs at home, I went out and got the Lamkin Sonar and regripped all my irons. A lot easier to do than I thought it would be.

I do like Winn grips but the soft material does seem to wear out in certain high pressure spots faster than a more traditional rubber only grip. The Z Cord is really nice as is your Multicompound

I replace my Winn grips every year, which is what you should do anyway. They say every year or after 40 rounds

Great video, would love to be able to do this for sure!! Left Super Stroke for the Lamkin crossline 1150.. The SS didn't wear well at all in the damp and wet. Using the 1150 (wedge grip) gives me better shot options on the excessively undulated mountain course I play. And it didn't have the logo, just all grip pattern..

When those tour wrap grips get wet they become so slick the club feels like it will fly out of your hands. When dry and brand new they work great. Most of us just use the tour velvet anyways, but those newer MCC grips have become super popular as well.

i tried the MCC grips. they look cool but i just cant get used to the texture. its too much.

Good to hear all the feedback about the durability of the Winn grips. I will for sure be testing that out this summer.

I change mine ever 5 to 6 months, so I don't notice it as much. The dri-tac, those gray ones with the purple and coral color butt end, last longer than the wraps. I have the copper wraps on some irons and they start kind of separating where the bottom of your hand pad goes.

@@thecringegolfer My one critique of Winn grips is that they wear more quickly than other grips. I love the feel, but you lose that tackiness within a week or two of playing them. After a month or 2, I leave a thumb wear mark on driver pretty consistently. I've been using those grips for a while. I'm curious if the wrap versions are more durable.

@@sentripetal I have not had that much problem with the Winn DriTac Wrap, the dark gray ones like Matt had, but I don't know if they are more durable or not. But the copper colored wrap ones I have, do show some wear in similar places you were talking about and on the area close to the butt of the grip. I have not noticed any loss of feel myself. In fact my Winn Excel grips I have on another set are just as soft as the day I put them on, but some are cracking but have been on the clubs longer than a year. I have not run into the same wear that people are talking about and I play almost every day. I also regrip my own clubs and have even taken off and reused them after trying some jumbo max grips. Anyway! I like them and will probably keep them on my clubs. I have tried golf pride, tacki-mac OS (which are really good for the price and last a while) and the lamkin grips. Golf pride are ok but the bottom of the lamkin grips that goes to the head of the club start splitting after going in and out of the bag so many times.

As I stated in an earlier comment, put a Win grip under the faucet and then try drying them off and hit a golf ball!

Hi Matt. Love your reviews on those grips cos i have been using Winn grips for the past 10 years and love using them. Then about 1 year and a half ago, i started using LG and XL of Jumbomax on my irons and woods and love them cos they helped improve my game so much. Plus, i was able to gain more yards on each of my club. So for me, these Jumbomax grips also helped me enjoy my game even more now and i almost quit playing golf until one of the guys in our Sunday group told me about the Jumbomax and i thank him for that. I was a tour wrap guy for 8 years. The thing I did not like was sweaty hands and rain made them slip. I started carrying a right hand glove and that worked but I usually wore it when it was hot and sweaty and I couldn't get it off to putt. So i went back to tour velvet which do not last as long.

Thanks Matt- I am very particular about my grips and change them annually and clean them with Windex about twice a season. I am on my fifth set of Winns or so. Currently I am loving an oversized less tapered model. Feels like the bigger muscles are mor active in the swing, especially with my Driver. Thanks for all the great content you provide for us!

I switched to the Winn DriTac this season, played Golfpride Align before - I just love the Winn. No comparison in my opinion.

I switched from Golf Pride Tour Velvets to Winn Wrap grips 15 years ago and love them. And one bonus I find using Winn grips is I don't need a glove. I haven't bought a golf glove in 14 years.

I’ve had the Golf Pride CP2 wrap grips on my clubs since 2015. They still feel like new. And I’ve played a lot of golf in the last 6 six years.

I always regrip with the CP2 Wrap. Stays tacky, easy to clean, soft feel without being mushy and last forever.

Interesting to see how those wrap type grips work in the wet. I use the Z Cord which I love. Ideal for U.K. with all weather conditions.

I loved and played Winn DryTac grips for several years and they are awesome! However, if you play a lot (as in 2-3 rounds a week, which in MN I try to do because our season is so short compared to warmer climates), you have to almost replace the grips around 2/3 the way through the season because they wear out quick!

Interesting. I've played Golf Pride Tour Wraps forever never felt the need to change. Good to know they were in your top five.

The ole classic Winn grip is the only grip I want on a club been using them since the early 2000s in Junior Golf. Buttery soft and yet sticks to your hand. Only problem is they tend to wear faster than most grips.

Nice review. Was never a fan of Winn, until I decided to buy a dri tac wrap for my driver last minute, couple days before a tournament. Loved the dri tac wrap so much after that day I went and bought more for my woods and hybrids and switched all my irons over to their “alignment” version and have been playing them ever since without considering any other brand. That was about 8 years ago. My new fitted set I got a couple months ago now has all Winn grips. They feel great without a glove and feel like they just absolutely stick to a glove even if they get a little wet in a rainy day. Best on the market in my opinion as well

I’ve been using those Winn Dri-Tac wrap midsize grips for a couple years now and I absolutely love them! They do wear out a lot faster than rubber grips, but I don’t care because they feel amazing.

After watching this video I picked up a couple Winn dri-tac wraps oversized and freakin love them! Have them on all 4 of my wedges and really feel like I have control and my hands are quieter. I don't feel like in strangling my wedges anymore and it showed where it counts, on the course. My wedge play is on point! I feel like 100 yards in is my sweet spot now! Looking forward to getting these on my irons now!

I just put Golf Pride Mcc Align on my PXG irons. Love them, tacky, comfort and the align part keeps my setup properly at address every time. That was always my problem. Love your vids Mr. Short Game

I bought a used set of irons last year that had Winn dritac grips on them...I had full intentions of replacing the grips but absolutely LOVED them!!

Awesome video as usual! Just put the Winn Dri-Tac on my driver and fell in love with that grip. I see why you gave it 1st place.

I wholeheartedly believe Winn grips are designed to fall apart as soon as humanly possible. They even start to crumble if you leave them in the packaging for a few years

I haven't noticed that they fall apart in storage, although I don't keep them around for that long usually. How long before you notice that? They do wear way more easily than other grips, I'll agree with you on that.

@@sentripetal 3 years, undersized women’s grips . They got really dry and you could rub the wrap off with your thumb . I repurpose used clubs and find old Winn grips in all sorts of horrible situations. The tan ones turn into a orange sticky goo , falling apart, get all over shafts and have to be cleaned with paint thinner. I had a set on my irons , the tan colored excel and when it rained you couldn’t hold on to the club. I had to hold a wad of paper towels between my hands and the club . I always say the best worst grip in golf

@@Otis790 that's interesting to hear. I guess I just replaced mine before they ever get that. I probably rotate them out every 6 months or so. It only seems to be normal wear, like getting worn thumb marks on the grip, but not full disintegration like you're speaking of.

I play the Winn Dri Tac grips. I wipe them down regularly and they stay in good shape. All grips will deteriorate if not cared for.

Been playing your #1 choice grips for like three seasons now. They’re amazing!

I found the Winn Dri-tac LT's by mistake. Bought a 4 hybrid that already had the grip on it. I was immediately impressed with the feel and control I had. I now use the LT's on long irons and woods. For the short irons and wedges, I use the Winn Dri-tac regular. Again, personal preference and feel. Great video!!!

The Dri-Tac LTs might be the absolute best grip for sweaty hands. Those things are so grippy it's crazy

The Winn Dri Tac feel awesome for me, rain or shine. Love the soft feel but with that you sacrifice longevity. Not a problem for me cause I just switch the grips out myself - about once a year.

As an amateur club maker I re-grip hundreds of golf clubs every winter for members and friends at the clubs I belong. Fun hobby, mostly. Personally I play the Winn Dri-Tac Wrap Midsize, and rec it (size depending on their shot shape) to everyone. But always warn them that they're going to wear out fast. I'll go through 3 sets a year. Granted I play a lot of golf. But if I start the season (April-May) with new grips, I'll need to replace them by mid-July. Those will then be wore out by the time winter Sim season rolls around in December. Those will then be wore out by the beginning of the next spring season. When cutting and re-gripping sticks to be given away to kids I 100% always use a good old Tour Velvet.

Hey man. If I want to build the bottom hand up on the dri tac wrap, how would I do that ?

Lamkin crossline is my favorite. Just a nice standard rubber feel. They also last incredibly long. Ive had them on my clubs for about 2 years and i play pretty frequently, just put a brand new one on a wedge and it feels identical to ones ive had on for 2 years. Almost 0 wear at all..... also i use the golf pride align on my driver..... i feel it helps my feel the club alot more with those fast swings

I took a 20 year hiatus from golf, and recently started playing again. I have an old wedge with the crossline, and it’s still like new. That’s easily a 23 year old grip and it’s still supple and stable.

I really like the golf pride tour wrap! They just making getting clubs out and in your bag a struggle!😂

I used to use them, but I found that they'll tear your hands apart if you use them a lot. I got all sorts of blisters at the base of my index finger after using them. And yes, this is after building up quite a bit of callouses over the years at the driving range. Have you experienced anything similar?

I played that winn grip for years, I thought they were great until they get slightly wet. They did need to be replaced sooner than others. I switched back to the classic GP Tour Velvet. All around great, they get more tacky after you clean them too

My grip of choice is the very one you chose at the end. Excellent feeling / performing grip. I can keep my hold on the club very very lightly and never feel as though it's moving in my hand. Love them. (unsponsored testimonial 😊)

Gr8 vid! I've been using the Winn dri tac jumbo grips for about 5 years now. Love them. I needed a bigger grip as my hands a big.. I'm 6 ft 5 in. Tall... I wish they were more durable so they would last longer, but I can get a season out of them most times. My favorite. Cheers

Just had the Lamkin Sonar Mids installed on my G425 irons & hybrids and absolutely love them. They’re tacky and feel great swinging the clubs.

I’m a big fan of Winn Dri Tacs for shock absorption. They wear out, but better the grip than my wrist

Love the disclaimers. Great to see the grips actually being tested.

Lamkin crossline all day for me but just switched over to lamkin z5 for this season

I just put the XS Jumbo Max Tour Series on all my clubs and I love them. Love the content.

I like the feel of Dri Tac but they don’t last very long.

I’ve had the opposite experience with the regular Dri-Tac. Play in plenty of rain in the Northwest and the Dri-Tacs always feel tacky

@@gregkuper1387 I've seen that too. I'm up in the northeast and the humidity makes a lot of grips very slick, but I haven't had that issue with Dri-Tacs. And I haven't had the durability issue to the extent that other people have either. I usually play 1-2 times per week and hit the range at least once between rounds, and Dri-Tacs don't seem to fall apart any faster than any other grips for me

same, Dri-Tac's were my first grips on my fitted set of clubs. However they wore out in 6 months, playing 4 to 5 times a week. Played in the rain plenty with them and also had the same problem. They became super slick and got a lot of slippage and twisting when they get wet. Switched over to the Tour velvet, not as tacky on soft feeling in the hand but haven't had any problems with slipping or twisting in my hand while playing in rain with them so far.

You are right on the money about wear, feel great though, played them for years and recently switched to the LT (his #2).

I used to play the Winn Dri-Tacs and they really are fantastic grips. They wear out so quickly though! Once they start to break down they turn into some of the slickest weird zero control grips I've played. First 6 months to a year and woah, amazing touch and feel.

I’ve been playing those Winn dri-tac grips. I live in the pnw and thought they would be great in the rain (or humidity for you in GA) and they get slimey and slippery in the rain. I accidentally chucked my 4 iron at a friend trying to swing with rain gloves on. It felt slightly better barehanded.

I have those (mid-size) on my driver and fairway woods…perhaps it’s my grip, but they all wear out below my right thumb. Everywhere else is good, I don’t know 🤷‍♂️

Used Winn Dri tac wrap my whole life love them. Looks great in the copper color as well.

I am a Wynn grip devotee. On the tour wrap they do them in different thicknesses. I prefer the jumbo. Great tac + feel. Down side they do not last long as my thumb (RH) and the heel of my (LH) wear the surface. That said - Its a price worth paying for the excellent feel they offer throughout the set.

I’ve switched to the Winn DriTac and haven’t looked back. Holds up much better than I expected the in Georgia humidity to.

Is it ok on the rain, with the tour warp, if we have rain contrôle glove ? Or it don’t change anything, the tour warp are bad in rain ?

All my clubs have the Winn Dritac LT (your 2nd place). Love these things. Super grippy, great feel, and solid in the grip.

Having been playing Lamkin Sonars for about a year and like them. In addition to being tacky, they have enough texture that you really have a good grip on the club. They are slightly bigger around than most grips - the standard isn't as big as a midsize but it is kind o a compromise. It is also definitely one of those grips which is slightly larger under your bottom hand.

They lasted 10 years on my irons, they never wore out, I just got tired of them.

Winn dri-tac is what I use. I could almost play those without a glove. The winn excel mid-size is the 2nd fav. Soft and great for arthritic hands, but they don't last as long as the regular winn dri-tac.

I just switched to Winn myself. I came from MCC+4 to win DriTac Mid, the regular not the wrap version. I am blown away I didn’t use these long before. They are soft but firm and it feels like I’m literally gripping the shaft instead of the grip.

I have used the Winn Dri Tac Wrap that won for you and it is awesome. I love that you can chock down one wrap and have 2 yardages per club.

I pick them based to longevity and feel. Minus the driver and 3 wood i put the new decade multi compound label down. I dont mind replacing my driver and 15* fairway when they wear out. I use the tackier wrap versions for them. The bag I have is also the ogio silencer so that probably plays a part in the wear.

Hey man. Love your videos! I was really hoping to see an opinion on the crossline 360. I'm on the market for grips with a bit of a backstory. I grew up playing with wrap styles in SoCal where it's nice and dry. I moved to Alaska thinking i'd never play golf again but here i am trying to get out there. I've realized it's incredibly humid and my hands are sweating all over the wraps. Do you think the crosslines will cut it and if i was looking for one w/o a logo is 360's close to og crosslines? Whats your thoughts on sweatiness?

Great review! I just coincidentally put the 'winner' winn grips on a set of used clubs I bought a couple of weeks ago, and really like them. I find that, even with small hands, I prefer mid-size wraps. I must say, though, I have some Pure mid-size wraps on another set of clubs, and I might like them just a little better, and they were the easiest I've ever installed (in the conventional manner - not the air-compressor manor).

I’ve been playing Winn since I can remember now. Your #5 Dry Tac. I need to change them yearly or more often. Not looking for tackiness…but shock protection for joints as I’ve aged.

I played your number one for years and recently switched to your number two. Love 'em both but like the LT profile and the Dri Tac Wrap while very comfortable they wer out fast. I mainly switched for the profile of LT. YOU HAVE GOOD TASTE.

Are the LT ones just as grippy as the dri tac wraps? I looked at both today and the LTs seemed not as tacky ...

I play the #5 place dritac, love them but they wear out quickly. My next set of grips I'm going to switch to the Dritsc 2.0 and see how the feel vs durability is. If that's no good, I'm going to try the wrap that took #1 in your video. Looks like a solid choice. Great video!

How did the 2.0 go? Are they worth the upgrade over the original dri tac?

I was GP Tour Velvet for years. Recently jumped ship to Lampkin Sonar+ black. Very nice grip that holds up. The GP tour velvet is a good grip but tends to become slick very quickly.

Can’t go wrong with a good ol TOUR VELVET

@@raybaker8653 so far they are very durable, 5 months in and are still like new, still tacky so less grip pressure neeeded, i used 2 or 3 xs a week. I have 10 spare grips for when i regrip them in future because they are honestly best grip I've used. Simple design, no BS, just a normal grip thats tacky in all weather with decent feedback on shots

Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 is my grip of choice. I use to swing with the MultiCompound, but they would chew through golf gloves and the No. 1 and Iomic grips are just so expensive.

Awesome grip review. I just installed the golf pride tour wraps on my irons. Maybe I need to break them in but they are an absolute nightmare in hot humid conditions like Florida summer golf.

Love the Winn grips but man they are a 2x per season replacement due to durability. Funny I too like the golf pride (rubber?) but if it’s wet or rainy they get slick. Great review and appreciate all the work you did to make it real! Now you have to re-grip again 😎!

Just put that exact winn grip on my gap wedge with the advice from club builder that they don't last long and once they get wet they lose tackiness. Picked up a golf pride tour wrap as well to test in comparison.

Great video. Love that you paid for them. I'm a tour wrap fan, but I will try some of the others. Winn grips have always disintegrated on me. Maybe I should try them again.

I have never tried Winn grips. They always felt too soft and felt they wouldnt last a season. Curious to see how long the Winn grips last

Love the golf pride tour wrap. If it ever feels like it's not as tacky anymore a quick wipe with a damp cloth brings it right back.

Two things I’d like to see: 1) your review of JumboMax grips (used by Bryson de Chambeau), and 2) your very first golf vlog video. I’ve been watching you since the backyard net and chickens, but I know I didn’t see the first one you ever posted. I think many would enjoy it! Keep up the excellent work!

Curious to see a test like that out of your top selection, and maybe vs your gamers, if theres a dispersion benefit. I'm sure it would take forever swapping grips onto the same club/shaft combo, but would be interesting.
