I bought different Foam Clays to compare 🌸

I get a lot of questions about the Foam Clay I use, but I actually ever only used one brand, called "BOHS". So this time I bought three different Foam Clays to compare to the brand I use.
I never thought they could be so different! But with the new Foam Clays there are actually a lot of things I could use them for, for which the "BOHS" Clay didn't work so well. But also some big disadvantages.
I hope this video helps! Feel free to ask questions in the comments! 😊

Thank you for trying the different kinds of foam clay. I just started using it and I am loving it. I bought it without understanding what I could use it for. I wanted it to make little snowmen. But after watching some of your videos I came up with some other ideas.

Hi, I am finding your videos very helpful, thank you. Please could you let me know how you stick the magnets on? Are they the self adhesive ones or the small metal ones? I'm new to foam clay, and I've found Tacky Glue works great for bonding dry to dry, and wet to dry, but it didn't work when I tried bonding metal to a dried piece. Many thanks x

Hi! 😊 I use Superglue, because it works great with foam clay and I haven‘t had a problem with it yet, the magnets stay on perfectly :) Where I come from it‘s also called „Seconds Glue“ because it dries really fast 😅

I’ve been using Bohs for a few months now and love it. I bought a large pack of the white and make my own colors using cheap tube watercolor paint. Works great for pastel colors but not if you want high chroma like your yellow and purple in the video. Can’t see myself trying any other brand, really, especially after watching your testing.

it‘s great to hear your experience! mixing the colors yourself is such a great idea, I didn‘t even think of that 😄 I need to try that! Maybe there‘s a way to make more saturated colors too 🤔

@@the.sarahworld Probably with more expensive kinds of paints - those with more pigment. Or just use more paint, but I don't know what the "maximum" percentage would be, if any.

thats a really good question… there is also just pure pigment (which i use for coloring concrete 😅) so thats definitely a video I‘m gonna make :) lets see how much paint/color/pigment foam clay can manage

@@the.sarahworld Absolutely. I have tried dry pigment powder once or twice. Wasn’t as successful since it was really difficult to get the pigment load spread evenly through the clay.

ohnoo don‘t worry! maybe consider sealing your creations with uv resin if they have smaller parts that could break? or combine the brand one with one of the sets and use the harder clay for intricate parts? I‘m happy to help if you have questions! 😊

I want to make sculptures with this so may i ask how does this dry or how do you make it solid?

  • @the.sarahworld

Sure! It is air dry clay, so you basically just have to wait. depending on the size and thickness I would say about 1-7days also depends a bit how humid your environment is.

what was your exprience with glazing foam clay?

  • @the.sarahworld

    @the.sarahworld

It‘s definitely not as easy as something like polymer clay, because water can reactivate the foam clay. But I was very successful with UV resin (kzread.info/dash/bejne/a2GAus-qe6bPl7w.htmlsi=wXgc8v6aSO8vb4jg here I talk about it at the end) and I‘m working on a video right now where I show how I glazed them with resin and I also try something like mod podge :)
