cant go wrong with upgrading to an AGM under the hood. my 2019 recently needed a battery and $170 later i had a nice AGM ready to last me 4 or more years.

I think I woulda put a coat of bed liner on that entire front bumper while you had the wench off.

Does that bed liner stuff stick to plastic well? I would have been tempted to spray the plastic trim. I mean the torch seems to have done a decent job but bed liner might have looked good.

Plot twist previous owner wants jeep back for $1
The paint, to me, looks like what I would expect a 15-20 year old Jeep that's been used and enjoyed to look like! It's pretty enough, and I think that you made it look used, but enjoyed and well-cared-for, which I think should be appealing.
I think you have made a great transformation on this old Jeep... for someone who "isn't a detail man"! Honestly, stop putting yourself down-- you have proven that whatever you put your mind to gets done and done well! The results stand for themselves! Love the channel, love your projects... and love your dogs!

Agreed! He should stop selling himself short. That paint transformation was surprisingly good. No excuses needed, it turned out fantastic, especially considered how it was.
I recommend swapping the corroded tailgate hinges with black powder coated stainless replacements. 100% worth it. I basically did this exact project to a red tj for my son a few years back. Had to replace the front fenders and had them painted as well.
Im so happy he started this series... its just entertaining to watch
I use Iron-X after a few washes to make sure it removes any oxidation within the paint itself. I've found it is nuts how much iron oxide gets down into the crevices of the paint. It's good to do that prior to ceramic coating the paint, to lock out future oxidation.
This project will probably have the best ROI of any flip yet. Great job Jared.
I am not a Jeep guy but I like watching this build. Your channel is great because you actually work on things. Hope the Jeep replacement is a good one. The Jeep did turn out great.
Nice Job! Front bumper could use a coat.
Excellent work! Some food for thought for future endeavors, those plastics get a dry and chalky finish because the sun bakes out the surface oils. A heat gun or a torch revives the plastic by pulling deeper oil to the surface, which will evaporate in short time. The more it is done, the weaker the plastic will get. Rehydrating the plastic will bring back the deep color and keep the durability. Linseed oil wiped on is a common favorite, first coat will probably soak in very quickly so a second or even a third may be needed. After the initial rehydration it only needs to be done maybe once a year
You are a fantastic person to watch fixing cars. A big "thank you" from Korea. Can't have a garage on the fifth floor, so I'm wrenching vicariously through you... LOL.
That house music at 12:00. Slaps!
You are so correct to take battery leads off before doing work on the engine. I forgot to take battery leads off my civic and pulled the alternator. The big positive lead from the alternator hit the engine block and bam! I blew some really expensive fuses in the fuse box.
That paint fixed up impressively. Just make sure you sell it before the last couple of videos so no one can lowball you on the work you did. I'm guessing the last few parts are probably either suspension related or some sort of performance upgrade.
Love your stories Jared! Great job on the jeep.
awesome as always.thanks for sharing and taking us along.
Save that rust spot it looks better than new. Good choice on torching the plastic to bring it back to life. Keep up the excellent work Jared!
Your tagline of make questionable choices came into full effect for me today. I was replacing an alternator for a customer as a mobile mechanic and when I went to leave my work truck blew a hole in the hard brake line to the rear. I was contemplating my options and then asked them if they had a picture frame nail and they did so I just plugged the line coming off one of the distribution blocks. Got me home but was definitely questionable and that fix is attributed to all the revival and car KZreadrs I watch and love.
pretty cool time lapse and music... been awhile... looking forward to the next one 😃👍
Interior or exterior, no matter what the color, there is a shade of Rust-Oleum satin spray paint that will match those plastic pieces... or a color that looks even better. You just need the paint and someone wiling to take the time to disassemble, repair, paint and reassemble the pieces.
Excellent work on the Jeep! looks amazing
Surprise twist would IMHO be he's giving it back to Zack :)
Lucky thing the Jeep is small. Makes the process of cleaning, waxing and ceramic coating a LOT easier. Imagine if the project car was a 1974 Lincoln Mark IV. The Twist? My guess would be the old owner wants to buy it back.
I didn’t know you changed the name of your channel. I’m so glad I found the new one
Jared, for the black plastic I restored a Golf 3 and I found that a heat gun works well. The heat is more uniform and the result also. But you need to have one that goes up to 850 °C. 650-700 was the sweet spot for VW plastic. Great job on the jeep !
For someone who doesn't like detailing you sure do a great job of it. Really looking forward to some Car Wizard 308 content, seeing it in the background really makes me hope it will be soon.
Great work! That Jeep looks awesome 😍 You are the man💪😎

I'm hoping the next surprise is you're sending me that Jeep because I really need one, I love it.
Hi Jared nice JEEP 🚙 and video 📹 liked the buff time got to try the heat trick !! Paint the bumper it looks out of place then dress 👗 the engine
Awesome work Mr. Jared! The Jeep looks so, so much better!!! For a detailer that doesn't like to detail, you sure knocked the Jeep out of the park good sir!
I'm impressed, you did it right man. Good job.
I would love to see a crossover episode with Larry from Ammo NYC. You repairing the cars and he is detailing and you show each other your tricks. ^^ Thanks for the awesome contend.

One thing to help you with "cut'n'buff" will be claybarring the entire thing beforehand and do the plastic bag trick, use the fine grit compound then a polish, repeat if not good enough. The coarse compounds can cut paint like a sander and must only be used as last resort or when you know there is enough paint to do it. What's a bit more time than cutting too much paint and burn through. Use a paint thickness gauge if in doubt. Orbital or DA equipment is always a plus and makes it less scary! You're doing great, you'll eventually get into the detailing pit. Question though: does the foglights work? Never seen them tested...questionable
Looks amazing
Surprise Twist-Ending: You’re selling it to Derek - #VGG - who’s going to install Cooper Cahbras on it; then he’ll give it to Robert - #AgingWheels - who will masterfully cobble-together a one-off EV conversion for it; then it will be delivered to its new owner…… #ZackfromVA Am I close? 🤓

DA polisher did a pretty nice job, I think. I use a Porter Cable DA polisher and have had similar results on abused paint.
Nice outcome
Great video thank you
That is awesome, looks like a nice jeep..
This is an astounding transformation! Amazing work as always Jared! I’m guessing it’s gonna end up being a giveaway vehicle!
tnx for the video
I don’t like torching plastic because it doesn’t last. And you can only do it so many times before it’s brittle and breaks. The Jeep looks fantastic.
Jeep! looks amazing
I feel your pain man. I have more time into cleaning a car I bought to flip than I do actual repairs. This thing was dull outside and GROSS inside. I see badland winch. I own one. No complaints. They work great for the price. Use the hell out of it
Work on Honda Rousey next please. Really waiting on this one.
It looks great
I've been looking for a 1970 Pontiac Catalina convertible for a summer vehicle only for years but honestly, an old Jeep would fit a whole lot better in my garage.
Solution Finish is your absolute best bet for faded black trim, never heat gun or torch plastic
That jeep looks beautiful
Whoa it looks amazing 🤘🏽🔥❤️
Great job
I got a 99 TJ the same week you got a 97 TJ. I'm glad I have some reference videos 👌🏻
Now I have to get back to work on MY TJ Wranger. I even use the same Oreilly AGM battery in mine, it's on its way out but it's easily 5 years old and has held up well to plenty of abuse. I'm really happy with it, my Optima batteries haven't even been as durable.
Nice work
I feel like you need to find another set of the bullet hole decals. They were part of the car's identity. :)
I have always used a tire shine product for bringing back Plastics and rubber..its called Black chrome...works very well...no heat required..
Hey there! I saw a Barra swapped Bedford van out of Australia, drag racing and boy was it moving! Made me think of your van.
Dang,what a transformation
Hello again Jared Thank you for another Great Video 👍 The jeep looks great 😅 Again thank you
Dude I’ve had that same badlands APEX 12,000 lb winch on my trailer for almost 2 years now. Has pulled many 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks up onto my trailer with absolutely 0 issues. Hell of a winch. I also love the synthetic rope vs the wire cable
Jeeps around the Chicago area full of rust holes are $3500-4500. It's crazy with prices around here. Just a rusted-out shell of an undesirable vehicle with no drive train can go for that price.
Miss my Jeep. I had one similar and it was a 2006 model. Would love to buy that one just because!
Jared + Wrenching + Jungle beats = Magic
I recommend putting the Warn winch back on and remove the HF one that will probably fail the third time you use it.
I know, Zach is buyin his dad’s Jeep back!
Jeep is turning out great but why didn't you paint the BUMPER when you took the winch off?
well jared jeep looks good and I think that your plans maybe are to do a giveaway with it do to the frame issue even though it i fixed there is still a chance for a weak spot in it

Hey jared if you want another jeep like vehicle I have a $8k imported 1996 isuzu bighorn rhd 3.1 td 4jg2 with a automatic transmission aw30-40le all it needs is some rust spots fixed on the body and timing belt service due to age it was last done in 2016. Transmission fluid service. Some vacuum leaks. Other than that it drives great. I've put 4k miles on it since I imported it.
It's going to the auction.
