The front SAM (Signal Acquisition Module) is either disconnected or damaged. The center row of controls run off the front SAM including the hazards, rear headrest release and central locking, among other things. The front SAM is located in the front fuse box, you will need to remove some screws to access it within the fuse box. This looks like a promising car, you just need to have a little background knowledge about the features in the car to properly repair it. It's very similar to other Mercedes models from the time as far as the features and how they're operated.

@Commentor1 Well it is not exactly a cheap car by any means, but it's in better shape than many in it's price range these days. It's in very good condition for being $1000 out the door, it will need to be treated as what it is......a $150,000 car. There's no such thing as a cheap luxury car, they don't exist. So if you can't pony up the money or time to take care of it, it will be a mistake to try to own it for long

@Commentor1 I completely agree, however I believe that he doesn't really intend to completely restore it to like new condition.....that would end up costing a minimum of $10,000, the body work would add another $5000 at least. Fixing the mechanical/electrical issues will get expensive quick depending on the ABC suspension condition, along with common wear items like flex discs and the transmission conductor plate/end connector plug o rings. If he does everything himself, it can be certainly feasible but by no means cheap to fix everything. Without a scan tool with 38 pin multiplexer and WIS/ASRA at minimum, it's not going to be possible to diy many things on this car. With the right skill set and tools, it can be restored and maintained properly but many people are not equipped to service these cars completely. I have no idea what kind of expense he would encounter by having the frame pulled but it can't be cheap, that's the most daunting part about this.

I would honestly fix the engine issues, fix the electrical issues, get the body panels and bumpers lined up, compound and polish what’s left of the paint.. detail the interior and condition the leather, enjoy for a month, then flip her

Damn. that is value for money! The bad things on these are the SBC brake system and the air-matic air suspension, but these can both be fixed for reasonable prices if one knows what he is doing. The motor and transmission are bullet proof. The 5speed it has is the best transmission Mercedes has ever produced!

Fix it and this is an exzellent daily driver. BTW the Massage Seat is a really easy fix. Its just a small plastic hose, that usually brakes under the seat from always moving.

Just clean it up and use it to tow the 240 when it wont be street legal. The 240 may break at an event. It wiil be good to have a baller amg tower

Fix the shock tower, weld the diff, drift it, and fix some of the problems, bride seats, half stripped interior, quick release wheel, coilovers and some phat wheels and you'll be set! Do it on a budget to! Budget drift build (again)

props to the seller being really transparent about the known issues, a 1000$ was and is an even bigger steal for a S55, even with frame damage and a salvage title, still a running and driving AMG, drive train alone is worth more then that.

Fix it up and put on coil overs instead of the air Matic if it’s still equipped with that. Fix the sensor for cheap, and whatever cheap fixes you can get out of it and keep it. If not, have fun with it then part it out. You’ll make way more parting it out. 👏👌

try sorting the shock tower and making an angle kit for it, it would be cool to see this thing with widened front track

Fix the shocktowers, and replace the airsuspension with regular coils and springs!

check the airbags .. and the seatbelt might have been ignited in accident too ...saw it hanging ;) also you should check wether the timing chain is all fine because they tend to get longer and screw the engines in some cases... other than that its a nice deal ! ;)

Yeah man fix it for sure! An absolutely amazing car.

Fix it then sell it to someone who will take care of it. 240sx and AE86 Corolla are drifters.

Btw common problem on the m113 engine is idler pulley and belt tensioner and my 06 C55 AMG had the same sound as that motor on start up before the belt tensioner locked up and i replaced that and shortly after idler pulley if it start making a nose like a lose belt sound or a screeching nose its probably going bad but its not hard to fix and pretty cheap i did it in a chines supermarket parking lot luck me a nappa was in walking distance.

Go all in, make it like new.

A fix up, an exterior car detail and exterior, headlight upgrade to projector headlights

check your fuses, engine, and trans mounts they go out on mercs

The pre-supercharged 5.4 AMG engines actually did have the standard looking 500 cover with the AMG badge below the Mercedes symbol.

Honestly if it is more to fix than it’s worth, you could part it out and make some profit. Probably make a decent amount from the clean interior and definitely from the engine and trans if you pull them, then you can still sell the shell for scrap.

Mercedes are prone to crank position sensor’s after warming up, sending off the check engine light and later on if not serviced it will not start without a new one. Could be various things but yuh

You should use it as a track car or a drift car that thing would do sick donuts

You've got to drift that land yacht! I have the same car (S500), but it's not the AMG and it hauls. Unfortunately, mines the 4matic (AWD), so no yacht drifting for me! :(
