Had a bad wreck on a Texas Hwy with 2 lanes in each direction and railroad track running beside it. Never expected a car to be completely stopped in the left lane waiting for a train to cross the entrance it was turning left into. There was lots of ground on opposite side of highway to have made it wider with a turn lane, or prohibit left turns due to left lane being a passing lane in which I started passing a slow semi and trailer before able to see stopped small car, just catching the rear bumper against the left side of my 1981 CB 750 Custom Honda and left leg, throwing me unconsciously to the side of highway on my back after my forehead was cut from going through the windshield of the fully dressed bike. Fiberglass saddle bags may have helped some as my rear wheel was sliding around to hit the rear of car after my front wheel was fully cranked right and brakes locked on barely missing it as last I remembered before awakening in hospital. After repairing it to barely run again with slightly bent shaft for the electronic ignition system on left side and sealing the cracked cover with silicone, I was riding again, without any reservations.

3 months later and your riding then it wasn't a bad wreck..thank goodness..I was sitting at a red light and a fine example of a classy lady probably named Latasha or laquisha rear ended me throwing me and my 1200 Suzuki bandit in traffic..the bike got ran over by a FedEx truck passing by doing about 50 I got lucky and just bounced off the truck.. broke my pelvis/hip/ruptured spleen..etc..etc..got rushed to county hospital and they opened me up to stop the internal bleeding from the ruptured spleen.. when I woke up everything was still broken but they couldn't do the surgery because it was too complicated for there orthopedic surgeon so the VA sent 2 surgeons to county hospital because I couldn't be moved..after surgery I was moved to VA facility and learned to walk again a few months later.. I was riding my gsxr1000 a year later.. Latasha had no license/no insurance/no valid registration..I never got a dime.

Nope, we had them in Australia. Great fun to ride but they liked a drink. You’re lucky to 100 klms out of a tank when you’re up it for the rent. Yamaha released 3 stages of tuning for it as well. The one I rode was stage 3 tune and it was awesome fun!
I had one of those 2 stroke "wild cards" but mine was a 97. You will not ever have that kind of so much fun on another bike. Not meant to jump over cars, though it could, the fun starts going up rivers, following mountain goat trails and since the tires run on practically no air, 0.7 kg, it adapts to terrain rather than destroy it. Many of those are street legal in my area, theres a long ride kit that includes a foam seat and Ive also seen home built versions.

HD might be pricey, but they hold their value when you Trade or Sell....so that's important for many people, nothing worse than trading for a new bike and basically Giving it away for nothing......and at least there's HD Dealerships Everywhere, parts are plentiful and cheap compared to other brands, they Do have a fast and efficient service department. Nice video I had the Beta alp here in France - yours looks like it is in pretty good condition..... mine was terrible - I was very happy to sell it... a very rough 2 stroke engine its better to get a modern trials bike with smoother engine for starting trials . Watch for corroded water pump area which is built into the motor block, they tend to be corroded/leaky if motor has been left standing with water or even coolant in the system. It's funny about the MT01. We got them in Canada but nobody wanted them. Wrong engine for a standard style chassis. All torque, no revs and just a strange design. I see them for sale often for around $4000 CAD.
That would be great to attend. I like seeing all the old school bikes. My dad got a 72 Kawasaki z1 900.
I’m sure you will enjoy the MT01 but the gloss comes off when you: a) try to get dirt out of all the tiny crevices which can be seen but not reached. b) spend the rest of the day, which started as a simple cleaning job, going round tightening up all the loose bolts which you found during cleaning. Vibration from those huge pistons isn’t obvious but its ability to loosen nuts is amazing.

@KevinK-gk4wt

@@mtlnascarfan I’m not a fan of Loctite Red; dismantling (according to Loctite) requires heating the nut to 500C. The alternative of a 6 flat socket and a gun is depreciated by Loctite because it’s potentially damaging. Hylomar has been my favourite thread locker for many years. Historical It’s been an expensive system but the joy of spraying HyloClean (Acetone) onto a HyloGrip nut and later spinning it off with ease was worth every penny; these days the Internet’s made it more available - a good thing. Personally I’ve a preference for the medium hold stuff, it’s a bit gloopy. It doesn’t run away if you get distracted so no cleaning up if tea appears after application. It’s Dark Blue and numbered 2143. The high strength liquid thread lock is Dark Green and I avoid it because it’s much harder to free off (but I’ve never resorted to heat). The bike belonged to a mate who loved it, me - I thought it was a marvellous example of the application of CAD to create that show bike but my old NSU SportMax was more comfortable cruising and my Dad’s MAC a more deserving candidate for a concerted cleaning effort! It takes all sorts and I love most of them.

Wow! That was amazing to see so many unusual and rare bikes! I’d love to attend and participate in one of these auctions. So jealous of that MT-01!
Shawn I have seen the mighty 1985 VFR 1000R in the wild a fee times . Ridden by this guy Johnny he was a legend on the south side . He did this full lean turn almost dragging his knee . Then pulled a wicked wheelie . I fell in love with that very bike . At that time . Fun fact I got to ride with John back in 2001 . On my 99 CBR 600. He was on a YZF 1000 that was made into a naked bike. I asked him about that bike he said when he had the bike it was only for a month or so. He flipped it doing a wheelie go fig. He got messed up pretty good . And from that point on no more epic wheelies . Good job on the bikes . Very cool bikes by the way. I would love to ride that 1700cc naked bike . It looks way wicked . And the V45 is a bike from my youth . Hold on to it most of them were 700cc bikes because of the stupid tariff. Because the big babies at HD had there vag's all wet . They are out selling us and beating the snot out of our bikes in durability and performance. So old Ron SMH Regan put the end to 750 cc bikes just dumb . So enjoy the bikes dude . I would like ride with you one day . If I ever get a bike again. So God Bless your family and your self bud. 🙏
Hell yeah brother. I nearly came out my seat when I seen that mt01. Awesome find. I was looking for one but bought a street glide instead.

Yeah it's a fun bike while it works, though it gets expensive when it decides it wants a rest. I had nothing but problems with the cam chains on mine. After the first repair failed, the shop repaired it again under warranty. I was sick of it by then and traded it (on a 1989 GSXR1100K) at another dealer, and the engine died again on them. I don't know the specifics of what causes the issue, but apparently the cam chain problems were solved when Honda moved from VF to the VFR model.

That was me on the left side of the stage with a light blue t shirt. I was there to lift reserve if bidding slowed down. I sold 22 bikes at the auction, which may have included some of the Buells you were looking at. Hollar at me if you want some more background info on the MT 01.
Kool auction with neet bikes, not a collector Or anything like that but we have had 24 since 1971 And Still have three…!! 😎👍✅ Especially like 11:17 😁
I was just checking out your Cleetus McFarland channel. Looks like this is a great hands-free investment for you. P.S. My friend had an Interceptor when they came out. I was still on CB750F SS Hondas I had a track bike and a road bike. Anyway, the Interceptor was "700cc" and 6 speed because of the new 750 & up tariff that dramatically raised the showroom price on 750+ bikes. A nice reliable street Honda with just enough power to keep you buying aftermarket parts until you could afford a liter + Yamaha. Which is what we both did.
The Yamaha MT01 has to be the worst bike I ever tested when I was with one of the UK magazines. It is 1700cc but the bike really felt underpowered and the thing is HEAVY with suspension set up for a much lighter bike.. I had to ride the thing at the test track which also had a 2 mile long straight and it was the ONLY bike I couldn't ride flat out on that straight as it felt sketchy as hell over 110mph.. I didn't think any manufacturer built a really bad bike anymore but that was one BAD bike.. It has a cult following but it seems to be a lifestyle bike and not one to be ridden day to day or over any real distance...
Sean, was caveat the word of the day on your calendar?😁 Pls, do a video on that Motra, i would watch and like that. 👇 Good to have you back man, we were getting worried.
Kawasaki Zxr750 H1:or H2 cannot see the swingarm but 120Bhp in the very early 90's before they detuned them. Still got mine.
Hey man, love you and your stuff, but just btw after asking directions and stuff people generally appreciate a thank you.
The 700 Honda Interceptor was my first bike also was the first Monoshock street bike ever made, I saw it at the Guggenheim Motorcycle Museum when it was in Vegas

The 1983 Suzuki GS750ES & GS550ES, Kawasaki GPZs, and Yamaha RZ350 were all monoshocks. How much earlier in the Fall of 1982 did Honda produce the Interceptor 750?
What a great deal on that HD! Looks like you are going up in the world, Jay Lenno, awesome. Are you planning on starting up SRK Cycle again? I am about to look at a bike on Thursday, and if you are starting up SRK Cycle, I might hold off. I trust you to be fair and honest. BTW, as a lifelong cowboy hat wearer, yes, I grew up on farms in east TN and have had my own horses, I gotta say that I love your plastic tourist cowboy hat, or aka as a "Dude" hat. Hahahaha. Just teasing ya, brother.
Absolutely love the Harley and love the Yamaha MT01 Vtwin!!! One of my favourite
Love the Cletus McFarland shout out! Hell yeah brother
So jealous of the MT-01!!!! You're in TN...I'm in TN....
You missed saying anything about the grey bike that was behind you, when you talked to the first older couple. Looks like the cop bike from the original Mad Max movie made in Australia.
Those Yamaha MT01 directly imported to Australia from Japan & even now, not cheap. A good one between 13k & 20k, depending on km.
Shawn entertaining strangers at the auction like they're subscribers at a meet and greet. 😂.
I had one of those v4 Honda 750’s - good luck with the chocolate cams 👍
Not wearing a Canadian tuxedo. No way no how. lol. Sorry Jay. That Motra in a modern incarnation would be awesome. But more than fitty cc. There's a mook riding a Big Ruckus where I live for food delivery.
I had a gray market Benelli Tornado Sei that is now in a private collection in Texas. The one with the extraction fans out back.
Would Like to see a custom chrome V-bike if you could ever find one. Only sold for a few years in kit form. they are so cool.
Major score on the BW350! Well done.
Did he say he spent 5k on a old CBR race bike? That was a joke right?
By far the best KZread channel his personality makes it way better
You can find those v twin Yamahas in Canada. I've seen Canadian riders ride them in N.C. on the Dragon.
