🎉🎉🎉 best real barn find on YT. This is one to watch!!!
Hi Sam, I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but the Ultima is actually a pretty special car for a few reasons. I'm not sure about the whole car but the chassis was designed by Lee Noble of 'Noble' car fame and it was so good that McLaren actually used an Ultima as the test bed for the McLaren F1. Gordon Murray - legendary designer of the F1 - also used an Ultima RS as tthe test bed 'mule' for his latest hypercar, the T50. Good luck with it (and I'm guessing and hoping you have finished it already)

He’s right and the car held the world record for 0-100mph - 0mph !! The gearbox is a Porsche G40 box upside down. It’s the same box used for 911s. They are over engineered and can handle massive amounts of torque. The reason the box is upside down is because the box is usually in front of the engine as the 911 has the engine at the rear after the box. The Ultima is mid engined like F1 and most monocoque race cars. Looking forward to seeing the car in the road. We know someone who can make you some retro parts if you want to go the Le Mans historic route. Ciao

@jtothepmusic thanks mate, it's always nice to learn. 😊👊👍 I think from memory, he had Andy Green do the speed tests. The pilot from the land speed record.
If you wanted an Ultima you could have had mine, and still can. The vents in the rear clip can be bought from the Ultima Factory, Hinckley. They can probably still do the exhausts. Back then they could be bought in mild or stainless. The 'box is Porsche G50 mounted upside-down. get your ignition leads etc. from MSD in the states or pay more for the same from Real Steel in Uxbridge. Do not try and run the car without a wing or spoiler. It has to have one or other or it will lose traction and spin out. Getting in and out is an art. stand with your back to the car, right hand on the rear wing, left hand on the front roll cage bar, left foot in and hook your heel on the bar just in front of the seat, with your weight on the left foot bring your right leg in keeping it straight, bend your left leg and slide down in. Getting out bring your left leg up to again hook the bar, right hand on the side pod, push up until you can move your right hand to the rear wing and lift your right leg out. As a long term mechanic (54) years, the qjuickest way to burn a long term parked car to the ground is to leave the air filter off and wait for it to backfire and you find the cracked fuel lines, any car thats been parked for a long time needs to be " recommisioned" not car shark started
Ultima actually held a few records back in the day, fastest car 0 to 100 and back to 0, it also held the lap record at the top gear test track back in Clarksons day. Awesome find, because you can buy it as a kit (if you want to) but it's not a mass produced car, it's kind of the underdog, and that in itself with the performance is what I'd have over a big money supercar, imagine destroying a lambo off the lights, that's epic! 😊
Its a NA Chevy V8, had no doubts this thing would start up easily. Congrats on this one.
So stoked on this. Hope you have a blessed Xmas and new year’s. Many more builds and opportunities to come. ❤

Screw stainless she deserves an custom built tig welded titanium exhaust and for some reason I think you should get graphics to make it look like a pikachu
Definitely *DO NOT COAT THE EXHAUST* You must install a new *Unobtainium* exhaust

As far as im aware mclaren used a couple of these as a test mule for the F1 road car. These cars are awsome even by todays standards. In kit car magazine many years ago one did 0-180 in about 15 seconds. One even went round the top hear track in 1 minute 12 seconds. I hope you buy it and give it the respect it deserves

What a great find these are the fore runner to the Noble which was an incredible handling/ride road car . Mad it’s been sat in the garage unused for so many years look forward to updates. Subscribed!

So so cool, good find and can't be in better hands, looking forward to seeing it's progress. 😊
For car people, One would imagine they would know not to crank a engine that's been sitting for 13 years. Dry lifters, no lubrication. At least use two stroke oil for the initial start. Nevermind the GT-40 sitting right beside it.
Sam well done your hard work is paying of looking forwards to seeing this car progress John
Subscribed specifically to see this project through. Already looking forward to the next episode.🤩

What an awesome find ,congrats mate on this beauty.Im looking forward to seeing more of this great video.
So awesome to see a gorgeous piece of kit resurrected. It's exactly what Nippy would've wanted i'm sure!
This has to be one of the most interesting purchases you have made and Just in time for Christmas. I have a feeling Josh has the perfect Christmas present for you in mind (an M O T certificate).
HELLO FROM CANADA!!! I wanted to subscribe so badly until you tried to start this beauty. If you honestly didn't check for oil, water and swap the fuel lines to a clean fuel jug before trying to turn it over, then it would be a sad youtube video and hurtful to true car lovers and collectors everywhere. I honestly hope to do Roger proud, that you please keep all your work and care for the old girl on full length videos, to share with us all for full transparency and to show your respect for what this beauty really represents. I would happily watch 1.5 hours of quality love and restoration, than 40 minutes of highlights and fluff. This lovely is the kind of car I'd give my left testicle to own. I can't wait to see what happens to this piece of real retro super car history and I hope that I will subscribe to your future projects when I see that care and respect. 🤘😁👍
I used to work at the factory back in the late 90's , they did come with a carbon wing as an option.
Epic looking project! Can’t wait for the end result! Keep up the good work!
5N1DR2MN2JC659332 is the vin for an SUV that belongs to a family member. It was purchased with it being in "no accidents"; however, the entire front end is literally pieced together with zip ties and missing major anchor points for fluid reservoirs, etc. I knew immediately when I seen the vehicle and the damage is plain as day to someone who knows what to look for, but in this situation they took advantage of a trusting woman and utilized her lack of car knowledge to sell. Sadly they did this to a school teacher, and it really shows the lengths of cover-up that companies go through just to sell a vehicle. Literally exposed and random sheet metal screws holding the front end together with more zip ties than the local hardware store keeps in stock. So with that, I'm very curious as to what the report will say!! Is it too late?? Stay safe and God bless!
never thought id see one of these pop up on YT, these things are literally the cars i dream i could afford to own. please give it the love it deserves man.
Depends what you class as a kit car - you could very much buy it in kit form to build yourself.
Wow!!!! This is a good one. I bet Jonny Smith is kicking himself. You find an 80's Supercar, while he messes about with Allegros. LOL
Wow!! This is awesome. It looked almost exactly like the SLC Superlite... I didn't know that was a replica of something that was factory built.
Looking forward to what you do with this, I have one too. Mine has never been on the road yet. It was started in 1996 and lost for 7 years. Has a LT 5 motor and is beautiful! I think the Sport is better looking than the GTR. Will be SVA'd next year and then the world!
Wonderful car look forward to seeing it finished
We’d happily detail this beautiful machine for you ,get in touch and we will come to you 😊
Well you popped up in my feed and I'm certainly glad you did! Looking forward to watching this build. Definitely got my subscription and a thumbs up today!!

I love these and always planned to build one after I finished my Westfield but kit prices have since doubled and more than I can afford, pal. No mistake though, these are very much a kit car and early Sports are worth around £30k in good nick. Later, good spec GTRs are more around £50k upwards spec-dependent. Good luck and I look forwards to seeing the clean-up.
Another great find SAM love your videos 👍
before you strip it to repaint make sure when its running you check the gearbox as if its been tracked its possible the gearbox or clutch kit will need sorting
Better off getting new stainless exhaust rather than those old mild steel ones.
you know youve lived life right when the whole town comes out to salute your life
What a banging car you’ve got! Can’t wait to see the progress on this and the final drive by the Stig. 😊
congratulations on your purchase looking forward to it being back on the road again hope you make a video of the previous owner & his son driving this car
Love it one of your better projects! My mates dad had one of these back in the 90's and it was great on track days, power to weight ratio is good!!!
Can't wait to see what kind of engine you install
Go Sam!!! Good luck with it!
Brilliant car, congrats! Can’t wait to see the end product!
Serious motor that, i remember seeing them in magazines years and years ago thinking id rather one of those than most big manufacture super cars
That silver color is awesome. And the color matched F-40 style wing is much better than the carbon one
This is the first time I’ve seen your channel. Your excitement comes through the camera so we’ll. intoxicating! I’m excited for you

My next door neighbour, Rog will be proud to see Jamie and max going for a ride in it, it used to to scare Rog to death driving it, many good memories, look forward to the updates the car had a very easy/unused life.
Go on Sam!!! Saw the Dangermouse car on marketplace the other day!! This is a far cry from that bud! Nice one and good luck with this. Reminds me of my old Cerbera, big engine, quirky and fibreglass ❤
Just found your channel and am looking forward to the build! Not many of these in Australia!
Brilliant video well done 👏
Can’t wait to see this all finished
Very best of luck with the Ultima. A neighbour built one many years ago, borrowed my Haynes manual so he could install the Porsche G50 gearbox and never returned it.
great vid Sam, and what an awesome car! ,on my hit list of cars to get
40:19 So the question he FINALLY asks AFTER he's already cranked the highly tuned and strained engine over for around 20 seconds in the OG garage is "Is there any OIL and WATER in it??". AHH!!! Come on guys!! Are you kidding me?? Thankfully the mechanic guy had done so at least later on before they actually sprayed it with starter fluid and started the engine! LOL! I LOVE THIS OLD GIRL!! AWESOME!!!!!
Love that car.. Always wanted to see someone pick one up and rebuild it. Great car...
A Bloody Ultima!!!! This has so much potential!!! Very unique, very special!!! Nice one!
Nice focus st up on the ramps , good to see one getting work done to it 👍
Good times are here Mate. Absolute Gem of a Channel
You have got to replace the lighting all round with modern LED units for the updated, better, more cooler look guys. Massive difference for not too much money..✌️👍🇬🇧
I look forward to seeing this project.
I believe I knew Roger New, many years ago. Did he run a domestic oil supply company in Bishops Waltham? if so I installed a workshop parts cleaner for him and his Son, I think his Son raced a Caterham or Westfield 7?
I'm a new subscriber. That was an awesome video on your Barn find Super Car. I'm looking forward to subsequent restoration content.
Awesome machine. How about the Mello Yello NASCAR look from Days Of Thunder
New to the channel but I like the way you have done this particular video. You edited it but still leave a lot of raw footage that most would cut out. You haven’t. New subscriber anyway
Whoaaaaa cool, love the colour 💛🤘🏽🔥
Ah that's a nice car! I'm going to enjoy this series 😁😁😁
A true comedic legend!! Love your new whip tater chip!
That car is epic cant wait to see what design you choose the the camel 1 would be awesome ❤❤❤amazing find next car should be a nobel ❤
Need to follow this. Subbed.
Awesome car dude, nice score. All I can say is it better stay yellow. Take the black stripes off. All yellow with decals. Going to be amazing.
Always loved Ultimas. Could never understand why (AFAIK) they never made it onto Top Gear.
I can’t believe this car… that is incredibly beautiful
Lol. The old ""go get fuel, [while I do all the work I possibly can while you're away]" technique. =)
Oh and it’s super loud and now u added that even bigger exhaust, people will hear you long before they see you!
Your a legend!
Ultimata gtr looks stunning in yellow as many of them were done in yellow iconic This is incredible no matter what you do with it
The Ultima Sports is the highest level of kit cars that is not a copy of anything but a car in its own right. The McLaren F1 used 2 as test beds for the engine and gearbox during its development. I quite like the idea of finding one with a missing or blown engine and fitting a small modern engine or a diesel and having it as a fun car to drive as an energy management drive rather than just all power.
Nice very nice find I've always loved them car's they are definitely a legend can't wait to see the Beast redone and ready Rock n Roll ❤ Have a Happy Holiday and I'll be looking for your upcoming video
Mr. Sam I'd rather see the GT40 up and running.
Sweetness in yellow. I think you will love it as it is after cleaning her up.
The Ultima is a kit car, a really good one . congrats !!!
what a find! subbed!
nice find you have there. in the future, when you find anything that has sat for a long period of time, PLEASE rotate the engine by hand at least 360 degrees to make sure nothing catches and breaks.

This was done before start and the levels were checked by Josh but wasn’t the most interesting part of the video lol but we appreciate your comment
Hopefully, you will be successful in getting Ammo to work his magic on this wonderful car. The only bad side of that is you won't want to let it go afterwards. 🤞🇺🇸
I love these kind of cars, reminds me of a TVR! super good opportunity
cant wait to see more videos of this car
All the car youtubers are buying Mclarens to rebuild, you should rebuild this and make this look like a Mclaren.

Its really good looking, I just wonder how much of a supercar it will be with a mild small block In it !!
I've always liked these cars, basic loud and fast
Ultima GTR's are awesome, been thinking of building one of these for a couple years now, never the right time
Nice barn find. I wouldn't bother tarting up that exhaust. Put some stainless steel headers and custom silencers. If it's an LS engine, there are endless tuning options and cheap parts from the US.
@the318pop
7 ай бұрын
It's not an LS, probably a 350 small block. Just as tuneable and parts are a bit cheaper.
Got recommended this after watching the late brake shows Aston V8. What a cool car the ultima is. All 5.7 litres of it😁
Fair play to you Sam 👍
The Ultima GTR IS a kitcar lol, built one back in the day with a V8. they are fast AF. you could get them factory built though
❤love you video's 💪👍Greats From The Nederlands 👍
i'm excited by this, nice one
I remember seeing one in person at the NEC in the mid 00s, Ultima GTR? if youve not seen one in person you just dont get it.. theyre gorgeous an they can boogie!
Loving the beetle! Are you doing anything with it?
Cool car, lots of potential. I hope you finish it….
Brilliant , wow.
