Closing notes:
As much as I think that working on your car is both great fun and very cost-effective, any work you do on your car is at your own risk. I made a best effort to correctly state all torques, tools, etc, but double check these before you follow any steps shown in this video. Please work safely - I've been saved by good safety equipment more than once. Don't do stupid things - don't work under a car supported only by a jack, don't use sharp tools without protective gloves, and do get yourself a nice pair of safety goggles.

Fantastic car. You have my dream color already. I just got a red 99 Miata in the last month that also sat for about 8 months so this has been helpful. Hope it runs indefinitely for you!

Awesome video! These MX-5s are a heap of fun to drive, I've got a NA mx-5/roadster that I put bucket seats in to fit in (203 cms tall) and still slam my knees into the steering wheel when I drive it haha. Maybe the foamectomy would have been a better idea for legroom, but oh well, I love the thing! Left ya a like, and subbed, keep it up!

Thanks so much! I might go for bucket seats at some point too, I can imagine they look great. I have a video incoming at some point over the next few weeks where I install a steering wheel spacer, which helps leg room at the cost of having to bend your arms a bit more because the steering wheel is 2 inch closer. It works well for me - I'm a bit shorter than you but I'm on the large side width-wise, haha.

Great video! Although you are not an expert, your work is very and methodical! Looling forward to next video! Do you have/use a spare parts manual for the NB mx-5?

Perfect car to fix up and run as a daily! Pretty much everything is accesible, available for decent prices, and with so many on the roads there is a tutorial or video on how to do it. Just a good basic sports car and in your case the perfect color. Been looking at a newer model, an ND, for my second car but the colors are no where near as fun as this.

You replaced a lifetime filter on the air intake, why was that? Was that some paper element you replaced it with? In all honesty you need to just reverse that bit, there's even a sticker on the air box informing you that it's a lifetime filter.

Yeah I know, you're completely correct! I didn't have the correct cleaner at hand yet, and I ordered some parts, including a new filter, before even owning the car - I was very eager to get it running properly as quick as possible. By now, the filter the car came with (which was very, very dirty and clogged with grot) has been cleaned, reoiled and refitted!

8:05 Do people in the Netherlands use feet and inches when measuring a person’s height, or is this to make it easier for Americans to understand? If you’re doing it to placate the audience from one country, (the US), then I might suggest you don’t. This American prefers to hear the metric system used 😀 Great work on this Miata and very nicely presented in this video. I’m subscribed and looking forward to more Miata content.
