Regarding the rear wiper delete. In my opinion, it needs the wiper put back, my 2017 MK7 R (hatchback) is a pain in the arse for road dirt & spray getting flung up onto the rear of it, it gets dirty very quickly. It would drive me insane if it didn’t have the rear wiper. So, Calvin, fit the rear wiper back on mate 🤙🏻

Yes the mk 7.5 golf r estate has 2 back boxes and 4 real exhausts. The mk 7 had 2 tips into 4 fake exhausts. That’s one big reason I sold mine. I had one of the first r estates In uk. Loved every other part of it. Then I went to one of the first 7.5 hatches with aka exhaust. Best car I have ever bought. Ps amazingly I think VW actually listened to some feedback. R owners wanted all black interior and real exhaust. And they did both.

Love these Calvin get the best of both worlds with that nice and sporty and practical at the same time going to love this video no doubt

My son has a red 7.5 R estate and both sides of exhaust are active but.....they don't have valves like the hatch. Lovely car in the Grey.

I have the 7.5 wagon in the same colour. Exhaust fully works, it was the mk7 estate that had 1 pipe per side working. They also don't have valves so noisy all the time.

I agree with you Calvin about the pan roof as I love them and wish I had one on my Golf GTI Performance.

having a pan roof adds weight and that weight is high up. A reason not many spect them with pan roof

Great video Calvin, I’m currently in the mkt for an R estate…as you say it rare to find one with the pan roof! Btw any tips on how to fix the boot latch as mine on a mk7 gti has just gone! Would appreciate it mate

My MK7R estate had fake tips attached to the bumper with one pipe on each side of the car blowing smoke through the outer fake tip on each side. It also had keyless entry, start button and a rear wiper :)

First off Car Vertical FTW. I have a MK7.5 Golf R but I f**kin Love them estate Golf R's, so sick man to have one as I spend a lot of time in Cornwall ( family) but I work in Bristol all week. Ima have to get one soon. Pan roof too is awesome.

Keyless entry and start was available as an option on the MK7. I bought one in 2016 and spec'd it :)

Great video Calv 👍🏼 I had two of these mk7.5 estates and loved them. Now got a C7 RS6 and honestly the golf gives 80-90% of the everyday thrills and is such a practical wagon. Will definitely consider another one if I get tired of the costs in running the RS6!

Im interested in a golf r variant because of the practicability and it’s more unique, but im worried about interior quality like road noise on the highway, comfort for longer roadtrips how was it for you? Coming from a bmw f20

@@Charlie-fk5lp lights are far more subtle than a quad exhaust and a diffuser. I just expect if I buy an estate version of a top of the range hatch it should have every feature the hatch has. Thankfully with the mk8 they’ve done that. Shame it’s pig fugly

I have a rear wiper delete on my Fiesta ST. I think it is much cleaner, but in this winter it can be a nightmare haha, so I have split thoughts.

Res delete and a good air intake with cold air definitely makes a difference on a car like that !

I think it was pre facelift cars that had only 1 pipe either side working. Don't think the estates had valved system either like the hatch could be wrong tho

@@ImKrull I know GTi only had single pipes but on the R estate it was quad but only 1 each side worked if that makes sense and the system wasn't valved on estates like hatchbacks

The reason there are very few high spec Golf R's, Pano roofs etc. is probably because most of them were on 2 - 3 year leases, and nobody specs up a car your only keeping for 2 yrs. The only option I chose on mine was 90% rear tints which cost about £90 IIRC.

the Mk7 Golfs can/do have keyless entry as we have a Mk7 GTD and it has it

Calv mk7 estate has only one exhaust used each side. 7.5 estate uses both each side.

Car looks brilliant. I think the pre face-lift estates didn't have all 4 pipes connected and I believe the 7.5 cars had black mirrors as an option not standard. Lovely cars as always amazed how quick it is keep it up

Needs a rear wipe cleaned my Bmw 5 series e61 yesterday took it out today throws up so much dirt it looked terrible may need mud flaps?

Best car I have owned! Even hit over 50mpg on a run! With kids it's a perfect everyday car!

7.5 Mirrors are actually silver standard. Previous owners changed them.

Youve literally reviewed my exact car!! Exact same colour and wheels, but mine has a few bits this one hasnt from factory. DG18 BYL, check that spec out 😉. Leather and adaptive dampers. Mines running 388bhp on a JB4 tune. 0-60 in 3.6. R600 plus a few other bits under the bonnet too

Disagree about the res delete though, I got mine done then put it back to stock the next day. Sounded awful, cheap and chavvy. It costs a lot of money to make these sound good, but I didnt buy it for the exhaust note 😶

The tail lights are the same as the standard golf estate, still full led but not quite as fancy as the hatchback R. Because they were made in such small number, VW didnt deem it worthwile to design a whole rear cluster for the R estate

nice estate this , them tiny deference's! 👍 , wiper delete 🙀that surly isn't and option extra to have a wiper , i find it ages a car taking them off , just my opinion , , is their a reason the estate didn't get the sweeping lights , one year was a 310 bhp !

The MK7.5 estate has a full exhaust system. Its the MK7 estate that doesn't I believe.

I think they both have full exhaust. But tail pipes are fitted to boxes differently.

MK 7 has a full exhaust, its just the tailpipes which are really a twin, rather than the fake 4. My mk7 has two filthy tailpipes and two clean ones,

Does estate have higher top speed?

The draggy time was even more impressive considering its 100kg heavier than the hatchback + the weight of the massive pan roof

my neighbour has got a cayenne 4.2 v8 diesel some noise from it his house is huge

Jesus for that little extra length of car you get a hell of a lot more room. And the way it performs its not even a negative about the extra weight.

It won’t have. A stage 1 map on these puts them into the mid-high 3 second territory. I know coz mines stage1.

Used Carvertical on a Golf R I just got last weekend as result of watching this vid, but the code CCD wasnt valid 🙁................oh and my Mk7 DOES have the sunroof, the extra Maxton front splitter, skirt extensions and spoiler add-on 😆
