Have a hollow 3.5mm gold rope chain 10k and never had a problem with it. I paid close to $700 for it and didn't know a lot about chains so I didn't know it was hollow when I got it. Do want to get a solid one eventually but people act like they snap super easy when it really doesn't

Not trying to justify buying hollow but I’ve had a 14k 4mm rope hollow chain that weighs 6.7 grams and I’ve worn it everyday for 2 years. Shower and sleep with it even have a 2 gram pendant on it. I did buy a jacoje chain that I pair it with but both look very nice and have lasted me a while.

Yes rope is delicate when it’s hallow I have a hollow Cuban link 4mm and I love it works well for what I need and I couldn’t afford 9,000 for a solid one my father bought it for me so I decided I will work hard to be able to purchase my one solid chain in the future 👌🏼

Exactly u can have hollow chains but eventually if you’re into jewelry for real you will want the solid gold chains. We all are not rich. So get what you can and enjoy it. People wear the gold plated stuff and then say they won’t wear hollow chains which I personally don’t get. But do what your wallet allows and be happy.

I have 2 hollows. 10k 4mm 22 in franco that weights 18.7 grams and i have an 18k 5mm 22 in rope that weighs 19.1 grams. Both seem pretty sturdy. But i also saw the same chains weight a lot less in gram weight like 4 to 5 grams. So i think i have semi solid.

Hollow is way cheaper for a bigger chain look. not like you pay the same for a solid one they mention the weight on most sites or you could ask the jeweler to weigh it. Solid ofcourse is better but way more expensive

I’m a jeweler as well these got damn hollow chains come in the store all the time for repair I would say literally everyday. Stay away from hollow it’s junk don’t expect to go to a jeweler and it get fixed and look brand new again as if it was a solid chain repair and odds are your gonna get charged more then the chain is worth to fix it because hollow is an absolute pain to work with not an easy job compared to solid pieces.

Got a hollow chain, it broke 2 years later. for 100 extra bucks I also got a lifetime cleaning and repair warranty… they added another link in to replace the broken one and it looks brand new… LOL

I've never had any bad experiences with hollow chains. I have 2 or 3 solid chains and maybe 4 hollow. 18kt rope 3mm 20" weighs about 4.5g, 14kt EternaGold rope 3mm 24" 5.8g, 2.3mm franco 24" approx. 8g, and a small 20" franco maybe 1.5mm and 4g. Maybe these are semi hollow instead of completely hollow, but I've had all of these for years and they all look exactly how I first got it. A couple of them I wear every day, and even play sports in them since around 2016-17. The small franco does feel delicate though so I don't wear it all the time, only for small little gold charm pendants.

honestly I don't think the size matters. Its just that they get small ropes then put a heavy pendant, or its too small so lots of tension when putting it on and off. I have a hollow 14k 2.5mm 24" bolivian chain that was my fathers everday chain, thing is years old. yes its a little stretched and has a kink in it. But it sure lasted him a long dam time and I've worn it quite alot too. He wore it with a hollow 14k italian horn.
