I Bought a Go Cart! DONG FANG 200GKA + Back Injury Fail!! RE-UPLOAD

Фильм және анимация

The Dong Fang or DF 200 GKA is a well known off road go cart known to the “carting community. This is a Chinese kit that usually shipped 80% built, and requires some assembly. Listed as 17.5 horsepower, though I’ve seen it listed as low as 12 horsepower.
This includes a quick assembly, a back injury, and the first test drive.
Notes:
Replace the oil immediately with 10W-40 4T(motorcycle). And then again after the first tank of gasoline (high octane)
Here’s where I got this thing:(not affiliated)

Caleb Downey it is very very good for the price. I’m slightly disappointed at things like the latches on the back end, and the way the passenger seat had to be refitted. But all in all it’s very difficult to beat the price. And when I started up the first time and it fired over, it’s hard to beat that feeling of not having to suffer through all the problem solving

So far it has taken over 8 hours to clean the fuel tank only because there are none to be found. I did manage to find an aftermarket carb for it also. Trying to install the carb only to find that the cable feels extra long. The hoses were worn out and not connected to the engine or plastics such as the air breather. Any help you can give me would sure be appreciated.

So all the snow has finally melted here in Alaska, and I left this thing out on the trailer uncovered all year long. I at least assumed the battery would be dead, now this is the battery they sent me. But sure enough, once I turn the key the engine turned over, and after a couple gas petal pushes, it started. I was pretty surprised by that, but I will say before I take it out again I will replace the battery. Don’t wanna get stranded 10 miles out in the middle of Alaska

I think it’s worth it for sure. The only reason why I think I got mine for so cheap is because it was right in the middle of last summer during the pandemic. So they were just trying to get rid of whatever they could to stay a float. I think as long as you’re buying it for under about four grand, you’re great. If you look at comparable ones especially like for me here in Alaska they’re upwards of five to $6000. So even with a $1300 to ship it up here it was still far worth its value

sjs2002gd so the oil in it I would change immediately, they say it’s “break in oil” but I’ve read stuff that says that it’s “shipping oil“. The oil is 10w-40 4T motorcycle oil and it takes like 1 quart. Well, slightly less. Then I would run it through an entire tank of gasoline, not too hard just like light driving, and then I would change it again and then you’re good for a while. The quality is far higher than I would’ve ever imagined for the price. But other than that I strapped a come-a-long to the back hatch because when we off-road in Alaska we’re literally in the middle of nowhere. And the last thing you want is to get stuck.

I know there is, like any small engine. It’s just understanding that it’s not necessarily the horsepower that’s going to make it faster, but the gearing in the transmission. Because of the type of clutching system in it, it needs to rev high RPMs to get going fast, But honestly, as much as I’ve driven it, I would rather have less speed and more sticking power in the wheels at a lower RPM. This is something me and my buddy are trying to work out next summer

well thanks for showing how to put it together. Tell your son he did a terrific job tightening up those nuts.! Is 34 mph the top speed? Is that fast enough to outrun a grizzly bear? LOL Just kidding. You never know. Anyway it is good to limit the top speed for your kids so that they do not get killed. Oh about your front wheel alignment it is real easy to do! Forget about the rear wheels at they are spaced apart different than the front so that you cannot use them. Get about a 5 foot straight stick and put it up against the outside of the tires with the long end touching the ground in front of the tires and mark the inside with a piece of chalk. Then put the stick touching the outside of the tire front and back part and the long end at the back touching the ground and mark the inside of where the stick touches the ground. Stick touches the front and back of the tire(theoretically you are supposed to use the rim) and the ground. So do the same to both sides. Now you should have 4 chalk marks on the ground measure the distance between the front 2 and measure the distance between the back 2. When distances are the same your tires are perfectly aligned. Theoretically you are supposed to put the tires slightly toe in with a rear wheel drive vehicle as when you push from behind it will push the tires apart if there is any play in the front end and with a front wheel drive when accelerating it pulls the wheels in so you are supposed to put it apart a little bit toe out. But since yours is new and there is no play I hope, just make it perfectly straight. You will get less tire wear that way. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Worst is to have it toe out a lot vehicle will pull left and right and all over the place. You did a great job carrying the go Cart onto the driveway. Wow. that was terrific! Bit absent minded when you reached way out and tried to lift it that way with one arm. What were you thinkg??? Guess you were not and paid the price. Hope your back is better now. |Best wishes for your continued happiness. Bummer that shipping to Alaska cost so much. Could they not ship it to you directly to Alaska????
