It's the relay under the center console. Mines been broken for years, but the selector itself should still work fine. 266k and still my daily.

No need to replace the regulator. Put a bolt the plastic slide. That will hold the cable better than the cheap oem piece of plastic. On the shift level, the mechanism is likely bent, or the sensor is bad.

It is the same exact transfer case as the first gen JK NP231J unless it has 4wd auto then its a NP241J and it has a sensor on it which tells ya what drive selection your in , easy to change and thats why it is reading incorrectly

Check the lowers if it's walking on you. Have had two and both were lower control arms

Part time means 4hi. Their logic at the time was "you can use it part time" some had 4auto, and the dash would say "full time" meaning you could leave it in that mode all the time. It's just the switch in the console not properly sensing 2hi. The lever position is no doubt fine, it's completely mechanical

Part Time on Liberty means front and rear are locked together! Drive mostly straight ahead. Full time can be used on any surface for any speed. Axles are not locked, just 4-wheel high. Shifter should go into low ONLY when stopped and transmission in is Neutral; same as coming out of 4-LO
