I am 99% sure this is my old RS. I owned it in Colorado and put the coilovers, exhaust, wheels, and a few other pieces that I see. Unbelievable to see it make an appearance on such a big channel. I hope you enjoy the car!

I sold it about two years ago and it got a few more mods since then. I used it for track days and autocross, hence the Ground Control Coilovers. The Fifteen52 wheels were my daily wheels and I had a set of Enkei ENT03 for track duty. I am excited to see the adventures of my old RS continue.

So it's you who bastardised it;). If it was in the UK all of those changes would just ruin the car? Do you think it actually made it better? My mate did a few of the same things and he absolutely ruined the car and he spent a fortune on suspension but it changed the dynamics and took all of the fun away from it... it didn't corner as well and was upset by undulating surfaces and bumps and just couldn't be driven as fast unless it was a perfectly smooth flat road. Other than going in a straight line it was ruined. Will be interesting to know what your feelings on it where? Obviously US roads are different...

as a prior Focus RS owner, that oil leak likely is not the banjo fitting for the turbo. the real issue is probably a front cover leak from an improper headgasket replacement job done by the dealer. definitely try the crush washers first but if it leaks again its a front cover leak.

Hey Fred 8:48 the oil leak shown there is 90% likely to be the Axle seal in the PTU (known issue from factory). When I rebuilt my block I replaced the seals with the updated version and I've been leak free for 15.000 miles already. The one you need for the PTU is CN1Z-7H424-B

How has it been reliability wise? Do you know what the PO's did before you got it? Modded or mostly stock? Theyre hard to find for the RS. I dont like the Blue really either which makes it even harder. I love the New Toyota GR Corolla AWD 6MT that came out in 2023 and then updated again for 2024. The only thing is that its working with 310hp, but its a 1.5L Turbo 3-Cylinder motor. So proably harder to mod then like a New Civic Type R or something...

I seriously considered getting a Ford Focus RS when it first came out. I test drive it and loved the powertrain, the exterior, and even the interior wasn’t that bad (expect for the seats being INSANELY narrow, which only fits dudes who can fit into a Hugo Boss suit, which I cannot). The thing that made it an absolute “no go” for me was the suspension. It was the stiffest suspension I’ve ever felt. Not good for the beat up streets of Detroit. I went with a Golf R with a manual and never looked back.

This is bad/misleading information. The weak point of these engines is NOT the head gasket. You will throw a rod much sooner than hurt a head gasket. Do NOT assume you'll simply encounter head gasket failure prior to seeing catastrophic engine failure.

A lot of the failures with this engine seem to stem from LSPi (low speed pre ignition) people going wide open throttle from low rpm in high gears. The exhaust manifold design and small turbo also contribute to the already high pressure in the combustion chamber becoming even higher. The head gasket is defo a weak spot, being open deck also doesn't help.

The RS doesn't actually make more noise in sport mode. That mode only modifies the throttle mapping. You can adjust the bumper to hood gap easily with just loosening the screws on top of the bumper. A common leak on all Ford's is the axle to differential seal. Also Ford refers to the differentials as PTU and RDU for some reason. If you want to add just that little more to it, you can add an LSD to it. The 2018 was the only year that it came on it new. Qualf makes it. The Motocraft FL400S oil filter is commonly used on the RS because it is longer than the OE size, so people can fit more oil and have more filter media surface area. It doesn't mean the car was taken care of better. Ford Performance also makes a nice carbon fiber shift knob. The 2018 also came with carbon fiber interior trim. To turn off traction control hold it in. Also, the rear seat bottoms pull up so that you can fold the backs down flat. I'm a bit of an RS expert. I went to the RS Adrenaline Academy and asked the Ford Engineer a lot of questions.
