Copyright free MIDI...? Not for another 5 years, I'm afraid. Eric Coates died in 1957, so the Dambusters March is not in the public domain until the end 2027.
If you could get a good static microphone situation you could sell time on that organ. Send in a midi file, and the organ plays it and records a file, and you download it. Automate it with some simple web tools and what nots. Bet there aren’t too many services like that around :)

@@umbertoyltp Also... a lot of the "wonky carnival organ" feel comes from all the ranks always playing in unison, so it'll likely improve :P
Over my time on the internet, I collected thousands of midi files (some of the websites are long time dead) recorded from piano rolls - some even from aeolian organ rolls (midi files with two tracks - one for each organ manual) and since they were often recorded by real people, they sound much more "alive" than modern midi files sequenced using computer. I already found piano able to play midi files in local museum, but not pipe organ - It would be fantastic, to hear some of these, nearly 100 year old paper roll recordings played on this instrument. To anyone interested, I could upload the collection somewhere.

I started watching the series because I thought "that's so crazy and outlandish", but now I love it because your craftsmanship is awesome in modernizing, yet preserving this old instrument. Thank you and keep it up!
I can't say ive ever been that interested in organs in a church but ever since watching this series I can't get enough. We went to balboa park in San Diego whilst we were on holiday there and there was a man practising on the amazing organ there (look it up). We sat and watched him for about an hour and hearing the noises it was making was all the more interesting after understanding what actually makes it all work. Cheers Sam!
Just a tip for tuning - you can use a small chisel to gently knock the tuner up or down. More precise and then you don't have to touch the pipe - believe it or not, just the heat from your hands is enough to affect the tuning. Very impressive work!
Those small pipes in the reed-chest are reminiscent of bagpipes, I love it! Oh wow, I love that circus-style tune too, wonderful!

I'M LOVING ALL THIS!! as you said it is a pretty mental thing to work on... seeing it working completly makes your heart happy, just listening to it from 2.311,9 km away from it makes me feel so little against this massive musical sounding beast!! congrats Sam!❤
The LED lights were 10 million percent worth it. Never a single doubt in my mind, but to see it is PERFECT.
My Dad built and serviced pipe organs for many years.I started helping at 5 years old. This brings back memories. The trumpets were always the hardest to get right. Make you life easier and use a flat screw driver for tuning. There are special tools for tuning .The heat from your hands will affect the tuning. Also wash you hands well after touching the pipes they are high in lead. Do you have a list of parts you need. Dad can’t work anymore so all his tools any supplies need to go to a good home.
Honestly the best project I've ever seen shared on KZread. I salute you sir!
Just when I think this project can’t get even more awesome, you mention the build of the console with separate keyboards for different sets of pipes . Just imagining the possibilities is making me super excited for future updates. Amazing work thus far!!
Oh your neighbors must love you
"Hello, I'm a talking organ" Is a fairly original and effective pickup line, as long as you have sufficiently broad definition of original and effective.
Awesome Sam! You are a man of many talents that's adding so many great interactive features to the museum. As a fan of cinema/theatre organs then maybe you can squeeze in some percussion and toy effects at some point.
Ooh nice bit of Eric Coates at the end there! I think this organ is really going to show it’s full potential once you get the “stops” sorted out on the console, as individual ranks can sound so much more subtle than full organ. I can’t wait!

The best project of the internet! Love the lighting of the active pipe, it really brings it to life. What a tremendous effort this has been, it is a treat to follow you 😍
the wind chest bobbing up and down in that last bit gave me so much joy
Wonderful music choice at the end! The people that built the instrument are surely smiling down to hear it sing again. Cheers.
I love the depth the LEDs add. Worth the extra time you took. Well done mate.
I am so glad you got this all put together and are planning on hooking it up completely to the console. I will definitely stop by if I ever end up across the pond. As another person said, the idea of uploading Midi to it and getting a recording back once you get it all set up properly sounds like a great idea as well!

What can I say? I haven't been rollerskating in over, 50 years! But suddenly I want to again! Yes the age-old, rollerskating rink's. The great old big ones. They had, pipe organs! From which our entertainer musician. Would play, organ derivations. Of current rock 'n' roll songs. Which while it was fun. It was truly blasphemous. To hear rock 'n' roll songs on a pipe organ. But that's all we had in the late 1960s. And we were grateful for the pipe organ. Because the records of pipe organs were truly abysmal. This was quite the undertaking. Is this how, SSL, got their start? I was told it is. They built pipe organs. Before they made the world's most popular, rock 'n' roll recording and mixing audio console/consoles. All as elaborate.
