I'm probably one of the two people on this planet who actually likes the design of the C Vectra. I even like the interior! Those angular lines are soo 80s. The saloon definitely looks better than the estate. I don't see many on the roads these days not even here in eastern Europe :))

How refreshing to see someone not slagging off the Vectra. I had a 2003 one of those between 2006 and 2015 and it was brilliant! (OK, it was a 3.2 V6 GSi, but if there hasn't been a couple of grand's worth of work needed, including a new gearbox I'd have kept it going). That'll do as a great car for someone very nicely!

The Tychy (located in Poland) plant these 2.0 and 2.2 (main difference being just 8mm of stroke) are made in, was founded by Isuzu in '96. GM bought 60% of the stock in '02 (and the rest in '13). They manufactured millions of diesel engines, both Isuzu models and GM and they still do. This particular family of engines was designed by the ingenious Dr. Tech Fritz Indra - mainly famous for the C20XE, a.k.a. the venerable Red Top.The bloke pretty much masterminded the two best Opel/Vaux engines of all time.

It was a functional & reliable car for the money with good mpg for the time in the 1.8 petrols & 2.0tds - and for many that's all they want from a car. Nothing wrong with that. If you want supercar image & performance - look elsewhere!

Thought it was quite a sporty drive and good looks. Still wouldn't mind one now. Once you like a car, you always have a soft spot for it as an enthusiast! 😂 I can be an absolute junker to everyone else but an enthusiast will be grinning ear to ear as they jump of out of a much nicer car to drive one of their hero cars. Also bore people to death as you recite stuff like 'this model on comes with these wheels' or 'it's a Fiat unit originally' it's a sure why to confirm to any potential date that you're on the spectrum! 😂😂

I had the 1.8vvt petrol also SRI and in (sapphire) black. Mine was the 5sp manual, did the best part of 100mph in 3rd gear (apparently). Whilst it wasn’t necessarily great at anything, it did most things quite well.

I've owned (and still own) 2 Vectra's since 2007. The first was a 2 litre petrol that had 176,000 miles at the end and the current is a 1.8vvt, has 89,000 miles and I've owned it for six years. Yes a dad's car all the way and super reliable. Cheap for parts and good on fuel. A very bland car inside but they handle very well for a large car. Not keen on the diesel engine and the DM flywheel. The was also a problem with the diesel inlet manifold flaps too. Cool video as always.

Had a soft spot for the SRi face-lift model of this and even liked it more when a friend bought a new one with the VXR styling pack.

That looks tidy and will make someone a really nice car. I had a 2000 SRI150 which was a great car - quick enough, quiet and comfortable. Never had any issues with it other than a clutch.

I had the diesel saloon as my first company car when I was 21. Did 60k miles over 2 years and LOVED it. It was just perfect on the motorway!

Had one of these almost 10 years ago, 1.9d Sri - bought for £900 I think and loved the size of the diesel estate. Fuel pipe once fell off and pissed diesel everywhere & had to get recovered, fine other than that. Traded it for an e53 x5 that broke loads but no regrets.

Interesting,Thankyou. This is a decent example of a solid, well specified car that should now provide several more years of service. These last of the line CDTIs were real motorway hacks and are surprisingly reliable. How many of these have been scrapped in the name of ULEZ I wonder?

I like it. This era Vauxhall always felt solid. I had a boggy saloon. It was scabby but didn't suffer the newly wed squeak bed fest sounds of older cars. My honda is the same age. It sounds like every part is having a conversation depending on the temperature.
