It is always good when a car can be salvaged and give, someone a few more years of motoring. I used to give a few of my old cars to my mechanic (now retired). Obviously he always looked after my cars well. I could of scrapped them but I always thought I cant afford to spend anymore money on this vehicle. He has the time and the experience to put it right and if he makes a few quid out of it fair play. It was a thankyou for always looking after us, trust and knowing your not going to be ripped off. Sometimes the part could be cheap but the accessibility, to getting to the area time consuming. Or the part would be expensive but a repair would be more expensive in labour. You reminded me, my MOT is getting near.😔😔

Thanks for the feedback👍 I get what your saying and I intend to develop into that format. TBH at first I was just getting use to vlogging and was pleased just to deliver some content. The response has been great so far and as I move forward and as I try and get a few more videos filmed each week I should be able to shelf one film, fix the car and return to film later. (unless its a piece of junk for the scrap bin) 🤣

Great video - you clearly know your stuff. It is particularly good that you can turn a profit in turning around a car which is basically sound but otherwise would probably have gone to scrap. That is far more environmentally friendly than someone going and buying a new EV instead.

Service history, spec and colour will sell the car Under 100'000miles and a new ticket is the icing on the cake. For a family of 4 with a 3k budget it will be ideal. And the receipt for the timing belt (if it checks out) is the hidden gem. The next owners can if funds allow, refurb the wheels, slap on a £299" private" plate, and proudly Park it on the drive.

We have this model in America. Though here it was re-named the Rogue Sport. Quite frankly, brilliant bit of marketing on Nissan's part. A customer walks in to a Nissan dealership, wanting a Rogue. Quickly realizes he either can't afford the payments or can only afford an absolute Base version. Salesman then introduces him to the Rogue Sport. Says it's technically the same vehicle. Only a bit smaller overall, more affordable for the customer (either as a purchase or as something with more luxury/tech. features that the customer wants). And, sadly, just putting "Sport" on a vehicle makes it more desirable for younger buyers. Salesman leaves out the fact that among those two vehicles, the Rogue is more reliable overall.

@@carukchannel Yes. Gasoline-powered engine option only on the Sport. Over on this side of the pond, diesels are only used inside of big work-trucks (as an engine option); or big rig commercial shipping trucks. Last diesel-powered passenger vehicle that could be bought new was either a VW Passat or possibly the Jetta almost 20 years ago. I've always been fascinated by the culture that exist in various nations that make up the UK. Wish there was someone here in America with this type of channel.

I had one very similar and in the same colour (fired iron) that I bought new from 2007 to 2012, but with the 2.0 dci 150hp engine. Was good, but it went through several sets of rear shocks due to bushes failing. Used to knock badly over bumps after only 30k or so miles! Nissan changed them all under warranty though and was a common issue. Also had a failed wiper motor. Was a AWD option too, but these were rare.

My biggest suspicion is the previous MOT, it is very unlikely that this amount of rot would happen in one year to what essentially is structural parts of the suspension........ you might get a bit of rust eating away at the metal, but rotting away so that you can get your hand in the hole??? Maybe it's just my nature being suspicious, but I'd be steering well clear of that MOT station

Hi Fiona, if your looking for a Qashqai of this similar year and like you are doing around 8k per year then providing its more longer journeys than short journeys I would go with the 1.5 diesel model. If its short journeys pick the 1.6 petrol but the 1.6 petrol is ok in the reliability group but its painfully slow and nissan states should do about 42mpg, in reality from friends who have had them its more like high 30's being realistic. The 1.5 dci is a little faster but with the turbo feels a lot quicker and will always return high 40's and 55mpg on a run. the only issue with modern diesels which we see a lot in our garage coming in for repair is dpf problems when the filters become blocked due to being run on constant short journeys, they need to be driven on at least occasional runs in order for them to carry out what's called a regeneration, in effect the engine dpf filter cleans itself but this only happens on longer runs at a constant speed (around50mph) you will be unaware when the car is doing it by the way. To sum up the 1.5dci engine as far as modern diesel engines go is good little engine. and ran correctly and serviced will offer decent motoring, save money on fuel over the 1.6 petrol and cheaper road tax. Hope that helps
