Bad idea, BMWs have so many plastic parts that things break down all the time, especially after high mileage. Buyer beware.

Can't be a bad car if the first owner decided to do 160k miles in it in 7 years - that's a lot of driving for a car like this.

Absolute perfect high mileage example of a car
Usually prefer high mileage well looked after to a lower mileage damage repaired or lacking history...thanks for sharing and for the effort that goes into making it
I thought the batteries would need changing after a while! Good to see a high mileage one still going! Hybrid or not 👍
I don't think you're "bloody mad" Calvin. It's a bloody gorgeous car! For the mileage, it looks like a excellent buy! I think that as a Grand tourer, it does the job beautifully. As a daily driver it has it pegged too.
Loved the video Calvin enjoyed the whole review aspect of it.
I got an i8 in Feb 2015, (64 reg) normally change my car every 3 years, but kept mine for 5 years. One of the best cars I ever had. Changed it for an 8 series convertible as the finance costs on a new i8 were stupid due to depreciation. Miss my i8 but do like the 8 series.

Hi Marc, I wish you could have sent that i8 to me here in South Africa. I absolutely loved that car from back when they showed the sketches and I thought it was going to cost millions. Well priced and practical. Never been in one though, 😁😁😁

Fantastic video Calvin 👏 for the age they still look so futureristic today. Amazing buy Calvin
Calvin is a breath of fresh air, you're killing it mate..I see you have gotten the Omega a brother, nice Rolex, there..
I actually quite like these. And I reckon hybrids are the way to go as a pose to pure electric so as to make longer journeys more feasible until the battery tech is all the way there. Thing is if for some reason the grid went down it’s not such a huge issue if you have a hybrid

@lucasd1646

@@TheHoosiers2008That's a moot point, you mostly have a tank full and you are pretty much fine until the power comes back. On the other hand full EV's need to be charged DAILY if you want to go further than the supermarket. The future is hybrid, and until battery tech makes a significant jump, it's gonna stay that way.
What a cracking piece of kit. Only 360 bhp but can beat an S4 after 161k miles. BMW quality shines through again. Love this car lots. £30k? Bargain.

Loved this vid 😁😁 Great enthusiasm and energy for the i8! Awesome. Literally just jumped on here to look for a couple review vids after seeing a couple on Trader. Thinking a 19 plate i8 might satisfy some car love and might also keep my employer with their ridiculously strict CO2 limits satisfied. How quickly did this one sell I wonder.
Love you dragging it out!
The E Drive exterior sound is the humming noise that comes from the car when moving off in electric mode(warns people around it by making a cool humming sound) . There should be a option to turn it off and on in the setting and you'll then be able to hear it
I had one of these for a bit and it was a great car, if charged you get some good MPG and there isn't anything else that looks like it on the road. It's funny when you catch the internal sound speaker out when giving it the beans 😂
You need a slot on Top Gear...guest appearance!!! You're enthusiasm is lit!!
Drove one at Bruntingthorpe on an experience day, and LOVED it. Would love to add one to my garage, sit nice next to my E60 M5 😉. Just booked tickets for the show, look forward to seeing you there fella 👍. Make my day and tell me the i8 is one of the raffle prizes 🤣
Great video calvin
These are such cool looking cars , they have the wow factor when you see one in the road
Great video thanks. What's the app you're using to get the spec with optional extras ? I think you said hpi check but I've not heard if a hpi check that gives such a detailed spec sheet

I believe the bargain price reflects the possibly crippling cost of any repairs especially electrical .
Future classic without a doubt
Brilliant video, I've made up my mind, i must get one as long as it's at a good price
Kudos! 🤙🏼 fantastic cars. I think these hybrids are far better than full-on electric cars. Would love to know how much you bought it for.
I've got one of the last examples made. It's noticeably quicker than this one, but I suspect after 161k miles a few ponies have escaped out the back. I use mine as the daily driver and apart from it being the same width as a Range Rover and a pain to park cannot fault it really.
Good luck with it!
I own a 2019 BMW-I8 Roadster with 19,000 miles. Thanks so much for posting this video! Because I have every intention of driving the crap out of mine and I can only hope to put 160k miles on it! I'm driving it two weeks through the American southwest this September.
Really rate these. Would be nice to have one for some fun see how they hold up against some newer sports cars
FairPlay to you Calvin, you do buy a really interesting variety of stock. That shows a true car enthusiast enjoying every part of what they do right up until the cars are united with the new owner!

The guy very clearly has a passion for cars and spends a lot of time creating content alongside that business and passion. I did 50k kms per year on my Citroens (for about 25 years) 90% highway driving. Will go past 400k kms easily with regular servicing and maintenance. Highway mileage highway cars are good buys
I have a protonic red one. Amazing car, the styling, the doors, the power to economy is absolutely great but the handling is just as good and it’s also very comfortable and full of tech (although blindspot assist would be a welcomed addition). For someone like me (27 years old, no kids, have to travel 40 miles 4 days a week to work) it’s the perfect daily/everyday sports car.

In sport charging it'll use more fuel so better off charging it with the cable if you want to maximise the electric mpg
How much is a battery replacement, I would imagine it’ll want a new hybrid battery soon?
My M2 OG has just over 81000 mile on the clock and thought this was pretty high for a 18 plate BMW. Just shows how well they made these cars with 6 cylinders and hybrid in this time frame.

30,000 worth of repairs to cover is a no brainer Go the old girls time after time. 160,000 miles, is about 256,000 kms which in Australia has just been run in!!! I do 60,000km every year driving to work and back home. My "day drive" is a 2019 Volvo XC90 which has just hit 220,000 kms and apart from hitting a Roo last year and I had to drive it with one headlight for 9 months until the parts arrived from Europe. I have a 2003 Cayenne 955, and a Lexus SC430 (yes the dreaded worlds worst car, thanks Hamond) both with over 200,000km on them which are great "Toys" for the outlay. Good video mate Cheers from Oz
Isn’t the edrive option the electric tone so pedestrians in city’s can hear it? I’m not sure it’s the exhaust tone.

think about how far can you drive electric in comparation with diesel or how far can you run
in the history whats been changed or re built ? batterie elec motor petrol motor ?
At least you fit in this one Calvin
it has been almost 2 years now....how do you rate the car now..? how about making another video of it after 2 yrs...?
It is not a Mini engine. It was developed specifically for the i8. Later down the line BMW decided to use it also in a Mini. Thus it is a i8 engine in a Mini, not vv.
I assuming you can swap Battery and Motor to make it faster and longer range?>????
Calvin got the best fade on YT, I need his barbers details
Nice car Calvin
Probably part of the reason the car was so cheap was because the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Also you forgot to use Launch Control for your timed speed runs and there is a fault warning displayed on the instrument display in one of your video shots. It would be nice to know what that was. Nice to know the car has held up well with all the mileage.
You have that the mileage is seriously high when comes from calvin
