    I bought the A4 after my wife re-arranged the front of her 370Z on the back of a Nissan Qashqai. Saw the video, love the approach of Matt which matches my own and wife still wanted a convertible. Mechanically spot on and after 2 days detailing the paint matches the work Matt put in. Gave full price and loving the bangernomics motoring. Was not bothered by the lack of a/c as the roof works though have replaced the centre caps which lifted the car. Keeping an eye on his stock for the next motor - Mercedes 350 convertible please Matt if you can source 😂

    Fundamentally, a sound car to start off with that had been well cared for albeit with some deferred maintenance. That's what I would always want to buy. The ones where you transform them are great watching, but I would always worry about buying something that had been badly looked after. This one was sound.

    Great vid, the car looked nice and good value for the asking price. I wouldn't be at all worried about the paint on a car of that age, but I don't think I'd buy it without AC. It's not just for cooling in the summer, it's also great for de-humidifying the air in the cooler months. I started driving long before AC became the norm in cars, and I wouldn't want to go back to those times.

    No Audis fill me with confidence, but you got a good deal. Personally, I wouldn't buy a car without AC or working AC. It can cost thousands to repair, and with climate change, it's often way too hot during the day to drive with the top down. I've had a few convertibles and they're only fun on cloudy days or warm nights. Getting blasted by the sun is not my idea of fun and enjoyment.

The guy who bought it started using it for food deliveries and then I've seen it on Marketplace for sale about three times, the last time it was in my home town, advertised for what I paid for it 4 years prior. It was on 120k plus miles and the turbo was whistling. I can see why it was moved on regularly. Beautiful Mauritius Blue paint, grey Nappa leather, fridge in the glove box, 6-disc changer head unit. I miss it.

    Thats right the ECON button on most VAG stuff of that era means Economy. The idea is that you set the temprature and it will use the air con system in the background as and when it needs to maintain that temprature. Pressing ECON would stop the a/c cutting in. Climatronic. I think thats what they called it back in the day. Geeky fact alert but early MK5 golfs and passats of that era had ECON buttons, but the later ones had an A/C button which is the other way about. So it actually confused a lot of people too.

    Don’t start the engine while operating the roof as it can confuse the sensors and gets stuck. There’s a special tool next to the fuses to cycle the roof manually which fixes it. Only happened to mine once in 10 years so I only use the roof with the engine running and has not happened since.

    IN Australia we have to have aircon. Even a drop top. In summer the top goes up at 9am and air on and the top doesn't come down until 5pm. IN winter the top stays down most of the time as our winter temps are about 20C during the day and a low in Brisbane Queensland is 6C. That is a nice car and well looked after.

    We have had a our S line 2008 for 15 years , sound as a pound , if regular services carried out . Down side leaky third brake light gasket , which also damages the rear number plate lights and a common fault on the pump motor for the roof , which I believe was sorted on latter models . Fun to drive and never dates , and not regarded as a chav in an old BMW .

    Matt, I used to be a class one driver, and on a MERC I ran Firestone tyres and did 120k with them. Changed them when worn out too, Triangle. Same truck, same work, same driver, they lasted, 50k, so mate be warned they are rubbish, better to be forewarned. We sent all of our unused ones back to our tyre supplier.

  • @StephenFogarty2023

    @StephenFogarty2023

    IMO With all due respect Robert, Matt knows that Triangle is another cheap Chinese Tyre Only $ 50 each Tyre But, it’s an 18 year old car, at a $ 3,995 ask And not a performance version of the A4 either. It’s got 4 new tyres, which would be a big plus to potential customers. Unfortunately a potential buyer in this price bracket, is highly unlikely to gladly pay a high price or top dollar & No discount on the Audi, just because it’s fitted with 4 new Michelin or Pirelli tyres that would cost $ 800.00 If Matt had fitted new Michelin or Pirelli tyres, the car would then owe him $ 3,500.00 Instead of it owing him $ 2,900.00 which includes the $ 200.00 cost of 4 new Triangle tyres. He might only get $ 3,500.00 for the car ? Equals - NO profit ! In many other videos, Matt does spend a lot extra to fit a decent brand of Tyre…. When he probably should not, as the extra $ 500.00 spent for a decent brand of Tyre, most likely won’t be appreciated by the customer, and it takes a huge chunk out of slim margins on cars of this price bracket… In 90 % of the videos, the cars Matt shows us in videos generally are fitted with a “ no name brand “ of Chinese Tyre… Even on fairly late model cars, such as BMW or Benz that High Peak have traded or bought 🤷🏻‍♂️

It gets parked all winter. Every year I say I'm going to replace them but then I drive it and they feel fine, so I don't. I put maybe 2000 kms/year on them and only drive in the city.

    I've got a 2006 A3 with a 2.0T Petrol. It's done 202K miles on the original engine and still pulls like a train. It's a bit tappity at idle, but doesn't use oil. It's got some rust on the front arches, but other than that it's great. I was given it for free and hoped to get a few months out of it. This is year 3 now and it's only needed tires and an ABS sensor.
