I bought a Beatles record player but…

It isn’t the right record player. My June Beatles related and various Beatles items purchased in June that I have added to my collection.

Hi Pat, I, too, am a first-generation Beatles fan and enjoy your videos. It’s fascinating to me the breadth of your collection and your enduring passion for the Beatles. Back in the 1980s, I set out to collect every John Lennon record/CD listed in the Perry Cox record guide. And ultimately, of course, any obsessed Beatles fan begins collecting Paul, George and Ringo solo work and filling in the holes in their collection of the Fab Four. It turned out to be mission impossible because it seemed the catalog was always expanding with reissues. As you have stated prospecting for records became a lot easier with the arrival of the internet. I’ve got a closet full of boxes of records now, but cut back on collecting a few years ago as I began trying to figure out what to do with it all. Watching your video tonight I realized that while I have my albums inventoried on Discogs, I still have work to do with the singles. Also, much appreciated you sharing what you’re paying for your new items. I think we all worry that we’ll pay too much. Thank you for sharing your remarkable collection on KZread. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your comments. Being first generation I like you think about what will happen to my collection eventually. I think I have settled on tagging my stuff to designate who eventually will get what. I don’t want my collection sold, I rather give it to fans who will cherish it like I have. Thank you for your story and for reaching out. I totally can relate! Thank you for watching the video, I appreciate you being part of this space very much and I hope you come back again.

Hi Patricia, it’s great that you are pulling the first-generation heart strings. Noticed the great comments from them. Wow, love everything you picked up. Happy you are going down the Mono rabbit hole. I pieced my Mono set together from Mr. Stickermania too. He is the best! Love the record player, know how you feel. I bought the Crosby blue one about three years ago. It is a display piece and wouldn’t give it up. We are the same age and every time I buy something expensive I think about my age. 🤗 I justify by thinking I might live another 20 years or so. Love to see your Dezo Hoffman collection on a future video. Thanks.

I am kind f floored that the channel is picking up. It is so nonprofessional. Yes, you were right about having to go down the mono rabbit hole. I don’t really know how much of a priority it will be but I will keep looking for the right records. I am so picky that really almost nothing satisfies me condition wise unless it is up there with sealed. I am working on your idea for the next video and after that I will show the Dezo collection that I have. If you like Dezo you will like that video. Thank you for your youtube friendship. ❤

The Searchers...My 2nd favorite band from Liverpool! You got marvelous deals! And, for a collector myself, I am surprised that I have never seen that Stones comp...When you first displayed it, I was thinking bootleg...But, the label looks legit...And my wife loves colored vinyl....I would love to find the record player too...I'm in California, so it would probably cost me an arm and a leg...Peace and Love, Terry Tutor

I can’t decide on my 2 nd favorite Mersey group for sure although the Searchers are way up there because there are many but I love the simplicity of that music. I was told the Stones LP is a compilation. I never saw it before either but I am not really a Stones collector besides their records. I am trying to fill in their main catalog but I won’t go further than that. Not getting the original record player way back then when I could was one of my big collecting mistakes. But, I am going to love the one that I finally got. It was under one hundred dollars and not seven thousand! I appreciate your being part of this channel. I am really happy getting to know everybody.

I was born in 63 so missed a lot of the original Beatlemania. I found the Beatles in 1970 on a toy jukebox I got as a Christmas gift. (Have one even now) The song was Let it be. I got my first record player a portable one in 1976 from Radio Shack. My first Beatles album came in 1977 and was Live at the Holly wood Bowl. Been a collector since. I have 4 different Beatles record players from Crosley. I don't really use them, they were just added as part of my collection. I usually play my records on my Vintage Pioneer HiFi System from 76-78. Anyway, I am glad to have found your channel. You have some interesting stories and items. I have subscribed. :)

I thank you very much for subscribing. I got into doing this quite accidentally but I really enjoy meeting great people and hearing something about their Beatles stories such as you. Whenever you became a fan is very personal, I know. One of my most tragic collecting mistakes was not getting the original record player when I should have. I am glad that you got all 4 players that are out there. Did you get the mini too? They are very fun to have out for show. I put “ I don’t want to spoil the party” on mine which I thought was kind of appropriate. It is very nice to meet you.

'A Little Beatles Corner' is a brilliant name for a channel, the George Martin book purchased for six bucks is a steal and your Beatles record player looks beautiful. My three all time favorite Beatles tracks have to be 'Dear Prudence', 'Eleanor Rigby' and especially 'Martha My Dear' (what an underrated song it is). Anyway, Beatles forever...

Hi-fi enthusiasts will be in the comments calling these little suitcase record players grotty but the truth is they sound fine. Just be sure to keep your records clean and have the lid open all the way if you're playing an LP. Harry Moss at Abbey Road even said once that the Beatles' records were pressed in such a way that they'd sound good even on the cheap plastic record players of the '60s, as that's all most teenagers could afford. And while today's cheap plastic may be nearly as flimsy, the electronics inside are pretty gear by those standards, especially with a decent pair of headphones.

Thank you for not calling me out on buying the record player. It is more of a sentimental thing and just for nostalgia show. You are right, back then we all only had cheap record players and we played the heck out of our records. I put a beat up one on the player just for show and it looks nice. Maybe I will christen the player with one record spin. Thank you very much for your support in watching the video and I hope you come back.
