@BikesandBeards Look in the Lehigh Valley area. You'll find some serious gems! I've been looking in this area for 35 years for both interesting bikes and scooters. Hunterdon County NJ is also a great spot where rich people buy toys and never use them.

It sounds cliché but the older some thing is, the fewer tools required to fix it, as there were simply fewer tools available LOL just a pair of pliers will fix something mechanical 100 years old, but I need a tool kit to put together an office chair made yesterday 🤦🏼‍♂️

Even my carb’d 2002 Twin Cam’s. With the tools I carry on the bikes alone, I could break down %90 of the bike ,so if it couldn’t be fixed on the side of the road, it needs a towing anyway. 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 , 5/8 🔧, 3/16, 1/4, 5/32, 3/8 hex and a couple of T’s, 25,27,41, %75 can be dismantled with these alone. Almost forgot, tie wraps and duct tape 😊

This bike (42WLA70273) is actually one of the last war 45's, produced in late June ~ early July 1945. This type VII was intended for Russia, but it probably never made it there; after VJ-day all deliveries stopped, and even shipments on their way were called back and bikes were finished as civvy WL's and sold. This most probably is one of these refinished WLA's

I was told by my neighbor when I was a child in the 70s . No worries if your points and condenser is bad. Go to a local hardware store pickup a kit for a Briggs & Stratton mower motor and your golden. These people worked on plenty of engines. And of course this was okay until manufacturers started putting in ecms. Craig was sounding giddy as a school girl. Kind of like Burt Reynolds used to laugh. That's a beautiful WLA. Would love to see HD do an icon version of it. From what I understand it was a 18.5 hp engine capable of stop speed of 70 mph.

You make me dream of my youth! I was eighteen, home on leave, bought a 37 WL from a good friend. It'd been a side car with a reverse and I ended up riding it to Cherry point where I was stationed. It was stone cold reliable, easy to kick start and good on gas. The previous owner had done a great flame on black point job and molded the whole frame and tanks in. It'd do about seventy five or eighty flat out, and about fifty miles to the gallon at sixty. I was young and foolish and sold it while overseas. Wish I had it now. Thanks Craig!

I enjoyed watching you do this, those Forty-fives are much loved over here and were what our club (HD Riders Club GB) was founded on (1949). That one sounded healthy even at that initial brief start, you must have been very lucky with the wiring - or someone had replaced it all recently, did you enjoy the front brake! You were in the ballpark with the power, standard civilian would be around 25hp but as you quickly discovered that is not the turn on with these, they are just so charming. A lot of them over here in the fifties would have had sidecars as back then 750 was a big engine for us. I shall mention your video to our members, good luck....and I say leave it blue!
