Hi everyone! Thank you so much for watching! I just wanted to say that I am in no means “showing off” with these. I am in my mid twenties and not even one night of my life have I gone partying or drinking; most people my age can waste $50+ a night. So my years of being at home all the time make me feel that it’s totally okay to get these since I always saved instead of spent. Hope that makes sense!

But even if it was just a hobby, who cares what someone else does with their OWN money? That’s just crazy to me. If something makes you happy and you have the means to buy it then what’s wrong with that? So weird that people would tell someone else what they should do with their own money.

Chloe, here are my tips for you. *You have to buy thick paper used especially for copics, so they don't bleed. *You're supposed to use cool greys to blend cool colours and warm greys for warmer colours. *Neutral greys work best for a warm and cool colour blend. *You can blend any colours. Even yellow and black work together! Those nibs are not getting ruined anytime soon. *Going back over with the blending process can cause over-saturation and that's not good. *I also recommend watching DrawWithJazza for his introduction and everything you need to know about copics. I'm so happy you finally bought your own copics! Peace ♡

Idk if you'll ever see this, but some tips I thought of while watching you playing with the markers: - Copics will always bleed just a tiny bit, so you might want to leave a tiny bit of space in between colors you don't want to mix just to see how much it will bleed on whatever paper you use. How much they bleed will depend on the paper of course :p I personally hate "marker paper" and almost always use either bristol board or mixed media paper. They absorb more ink, but it let's you blend a lot more. - I find that the best blending result happens if you put down a light color, and then go in with your darker color and then again back in with the lighter color. You can also put down a base coat of colorless blender before putting down the colors to make the markers blend smoother, but this will cause more bleeding, so be aware of that! - The only thing that will really ruin your nibs is graphite, it will collect in the nib and clog it up. I find Col-erase pencils to be the best for sketching/lining if I don't want to use a multiliner or whatever. Copic multiliners and Sakura Pigma liners are my favourite marker proof liners, but let them dry 100% and erase the lines before using the copics if you don't want smudges/ink on your nibs. - Putting a lighter color on top of a darker one will make a weird texture happen, when the lighter color eats into the darker one underneath but can't completely get rid of it. I recommend not layering too much in general, and if you do, go from light to dark. - You can kind of "erase" with a colorless blender/rubbing alcohol if you accidentally get color where you didn't want it, because the colorless ink will eat into the ink on the paper and spread it out which will lighten it a fair bit. Then you can go over it with another color easier when the alcohol is dry, or go in with more alcohol if you need to get rid of it completely. This doesn't work on all kinds of paper, but on for example bristol board it works really well! - If you try to blend into a color that is already dry, it will not work very well, so if you want to deepen shadows on an area you already colored, you'll have to go in with your lighter colors again to make the gradient nice. Otherwise you'll see a similar effect that happened with your light green on top of the blue on your globe. If you see this, I hope they are helpful, and I hope you have lots of fun with your Copics! One of the reasons why I prefer them over many other brands is the color range and the fact that they are refillable. Even though they are definitely expensive. But also more friendly for the environment, considering you aren't throwing away markers after they're empty!

Don't use a lighter colour on top of a darker one, unlike in watercolour where the pigments layer on each other, the alcohol in the markers causes the darker colours to bleach if you put a lighter one on top. Just a lil tip. Also, I personally do blends by picking up the darker colour onto the brush tip of my lighter marker so that I don't put them down onto the paper and blend, I sort of get a mid tone on the lighter marker, if that makes any sense at all.

Besides, it's for blending very similar colours, I'd never recommend trying to dip your yellow into black, for example, that will definitely leave a mark, but if it's a light purple to a slightly darker almost mid tone purple, it should be fine. It can be different for different markers, at least with cheap markers. I own a Touchfive 80 set and for some reason light grays (both warm and cool, and there's a green gray too) are very splotchy and you can't even make an even layer, and when applied over darker color they make weird uneven bleached spots. All the other light markers are fine and only lighten lower layer a bit while adding a tint of color

We use these at work (also Letrasets which I think are owned by Windsor and Newton now). Anyways, you might have a blender in there which is just the alcohol solvent which is pretty good for blending colours together. You can also use lighter fluid (like you get in the metal zippo bottles) as a solvent for blending. You can also lay down a lighter fluid wash and when you use the marker over it you don't get the pen marks as much. The other thing I do is always start with the lightest colours and work up to the darker colours. It's definitely worth getting marker proof pads because they're coated on the back of each sheet to stop the markers bleeding through the paper.

I’m an art student stying in Hong Kong who uses copic for drawing exams. Using marker papers have a better effect and you have to let the colors set a little before you add another layer of color on to it try not to color all the areas with color leaving some white on the illustrations will also bring dimension if you’d like to create a blending or gradation effect you should buy a number 0 marker as that is a blending marker

That is awesome! Grats on picking up a set they are so fun to use and work with! On your question about them bleeding they definitely do. I have used a number of papers to experiment with them, and nearly all of them they have bled through. I personally thoroughly enjoy the Illo brand sketchbooks as I have found they have the least bleed-through in terms of page-to-page (back of the page is still generally a little too colored to work with another layer of marker of course) otherwise I know there is a brand called "X-Press It" or something similar, that a lot of artists use for copic markers because they blend so well on it. Glad to see you picked up a set and are enjoying it! Keep up the awesome content.

I so enjoyed this. I am 61 and for years was determined NOT to "get into" Copics....sigh....all it takes is just ONE TIME before you totally understand why these markers are so coveted. I began collecting..and after 10 years...my set is complete! I have never regretted the money spent. EVER. And remember, your markers will only be as good as the paper you use. You can't spend $300 on markers and use copy paper. You need something very smooth and a good weight (marker paper is very thin and the markers won't bleed, but I don't think the result is as nice as say a smooth bristol or a neenah classic crest ultra smooth). Have LOADS of fun...your excitement is contagious.

Yeah, acrylic paint is really nice for being dirt cheap, infinitely mixable, and you can hang it on the wall without fear. But markers are really nice for being able to sketch, ink, and then color, and the outlines don't get lightened at all by the marker ink like they do with paint. Plus ink just has a different look to it than paint. I love both, but on a budget, stick with paint.

You could get the Ohuhu brush markers! They are a pretty good dupe for Copics! You could find a 48 set at 35.99 dollars on Amazon!

I don't get money every week, my parents simply can't afford to. If I wanna go out with friends I might get a couple dollars, but if it comes to buying something I'll have to save up myself :')

Well, you don’t have bills and basic human necessities to buy. So that’s possible

I’m 15 and I get £60 a month from my Dad but I feel like buying copics would be really selfish of me, I instead use the money to take my mum out for meals, bring my friends to the cinema etc.

I feel like she has to justify her spending that much because people on youtube are triggered way too much and she an adult has every right to spend as much money as she wants like her pinned comment stated why she bought them and it's like are people so triggered she spent $300 of her OWN money she has to be shamed for it?

@@meijelly i think what she did was shadowed by money, and I'm trying to shift the focus to that. It was beautiful and very creative!!
