"I've only read the first and last throne of glass" you are so chaotic I'm crying. I don't think I disagreed with a single thing you said in this entire movie lmao. LOVE janet her books are OTT crack but they would all be 500% better if she could let go of any her characters. Just kill them binch PLEASE, trying to mentally juggle a cast of 50 by the last book because she had to revive every single person is EXHAUSTING. She can't even let go of the ppl who are already dead 😂 has to revive them in the fkn afterlife!! AND THE END yeah I see the hardcore fans making 40 page theory posts and I'm convinced those people put more thoughts into the plot than Sarah does. She just writes vibes. Another banger video 💚

SJM is just never going to kill off a main character and it makes the intrigue go down so much. That being said, Lidia is my favorite character in this series so I'm not mad she survived 😂

There's soo much but I couldn't get over the end battle where Bryce says something like I'm not the same girl I was last week when I was running down this hall... Last week ..LAST WEEK this whole flipping book took place in a week! How is that possible. The autumn king told her she was gone 5 days. So 5 days with Nesta and then the rest of the book happened in like 2 days. Like did sjm mean to say month instead of week. Was that a typo in my book. We formed a whole resistance, brought a whole army from another world, traveled to like the Arctic to get to the gate to bring this army, traveled to a magic island, spent some time on a magic submarine all of this apparently like 2 days and the world is free. I've never been so annoyed by one sentence in a book. It took me longer to read the book then it took them to liberate their world.

Also - Cute cats snuggling and Bryce being compared to a phone on torch mode or descibed as a headlight, was tjr video combo of cite and hilarious i needed 😂💜📚

Yeah, this video reaffirmed my decision to avoid this series lol. I cackled at the phone torch bits - you are too funny!

You had me cracking up 😂😂 overall I really enjoyed HOFAS while reading it and I just love being in Sarah’s worlds. But the more I think about it the more disappointed I feel. The ending was wayyyy too quick and easy with absolutely no stakes. Someone should have died, like I want you to hurt me Sarah Janet!! Also the scene of Hunt in the suit floating through space to save Bryce just made me laugh like that was so unserious 😂 great video, you are a joy to watch!!

These are books that I have not picked up and this is when I love watching your videos most. 😅 Your little quips just make these books so enjoyable without reading them 😂 Like, I don't know any of these characters, but listening you talk about these people make me feel like I'm listening to the best gossip of the day haha. So, thanks for feeding me my drama Garvin without it being real drama 😊

I agree HOEAB is the strongest in the series. I dod devour HOFAS in 2 days buttt I can say there was alot that could have been developed more, and like you say there were 0 stakes Regardless, I have rose tinted glasses when it comes to SJM books, there is so much nostalgia for teenage me reading TOG series that I cant help but enjoy them

I kept almost commenting more, but waited until the end because everything you said was SPOT ON. The whole last book was so corny and cringey. It felt so safe and boring. The only guy in the book who didn't seem unnecesarily sexual was Tharion, and he is probably my favorite character! Loved watching this vlog and I had so many fun laughs!!!

You brought up a really good point about telling vs showing. SJM has that habits all through her books. I’m not a fan of romance and I struggle with that 😅 There should be another crescent city book but I think I’ll focus on Lidia rather than Bryce. So we’ll get a conclusion to this conclusion. My favorite part of house of flame and shadow was Bryce in part one with Nesta and then Lidia’s story. Hopefully the next acotar books shows us how Nesta is handling her mission to finding out more about the 8 pointed star. But what did you think of Hypaxia and Celestina in Sky and Breath

SJM said Bryce and Hunt's story ended with House of Flame and Shadow. me too I'd also like a Lidia focused story because of the connection hinted that she's possibly descendant or in the same lineage of Aelin from TOG! And i'm so curious how did she happened to come to Midgard world 🤔

I was hooked when I read House of Earth and Blood! Not going to lie, I had recently lost my best friend to cancer when I read it, and reading about the bond between Bryce and Danika and Brice’s mourning really broke me. I cried like a baby throughout the book. But I still loved it! I’ve just started Flame and Shadow and I’m excited!

1:03:39 - glad you ate stillhaving plot fun - agree on chatacters the fun of bk 1 was ruined in book 2 as already the perfect levels were rising and we need more tension and fun to make it more relatable. Have flaws damn it! The 2 showdowns you mentioned would have been way more satisfying if characters are invested in. Misses opportunity.

Oh my god I completely agree with the use of the word ‘power’. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SARAH? If they’re all powerful then no one is. And the use of the word light had me crazy as well. It’s just not well thought through. ☹️

My friend and I had a sweepstake for which main character was gonna die int the final book. Neither of us had our wishes granted. She had Ruhn and I thought it'd go all in on the cross over (if you're gonna do it, do it properly. I was also expecting a stupid Avengers style ending.) and put my money and her heart and mental wellbeing on Cassian dying in pieces 🤣 This series had so much potential at book 1, but unfortunately it just didn't hit for me.

Ok... I said I was going to do it, and I did it. So, your FOMO became MY FOMO, Gavin. Because, I hadn't read Crescent City either. It's been on my TBR since the first one came out, and I planned to read them… eventually. However, it wasn't until you put this video out that I finally decided to read them. ….But, let's be real here. I didn't want to read it NOW because I wanted to read it. I wanted to read it because if I didn't, I couldn't watch your spoilery-filled video 😑. And I REALLY WANTED TO WATCH YOUR VIDEO. So, I sort of “buddy read” this with you, making sure I didn’t go too far ahead in each section, so I could listen to your thoughts about it. At the end of each book, I rewound the video and watched each book segment as its own video. And I have to say, if I have to suffer through 3 books of around 800 pages, then I am happy it was with you. 😁 Let’s do it again sometime, eh? Here are my thoughts, as briefly as I can make them: EARTH AND BLOOD: The urban fantasy setting was a distinct shift, which I really liked. Magic meets guns, meets mech and modern tech, reminds me a slight bit of Final Fantasy (which I really enjoy), even though it wasn’t executed as well as those games. The fact that this is more of a detective novel is really fun. I loved Hunt and Bryce's snarkiness (...my feelings on them change later…). Actually taking the time to investigate… brilliant. Bryce is an excellent junior detective, and the fact that she stays 2 to 3 steps ahead of everyone else is awesome. I also really love June and Fury's relationship with each other, and Bryce too. They have a really grounded love for each other. Ruhn and Bryce together… that made the book for me in many parts. I absolutely love how the siblings reconnected, and building their relationship with each other. The Luna's Horn twist was one I didn't even see coming. That was a brilliant plot point! The video feed? Awesome. SJM was brilliant with that! I also hate Sabine. And watching Sandriel and Micah get what’s coming to them was so satisfying. However, I'm still a bit confused as to what Bryce can do. That is one of the negatives to this book- It is never really explained very well. It gets more explanation in the second book, but I would have liked to explore this, offer a bit more detail, and have it solidified… THEN start playing with it in the second. From what it looks like in the first book alone, it feels like a half-baked idea that isn’t fleshed out before its execution. And Bryce herself is Caelena reincarnated, which is… OK. But, we already had that. We had 7 books of that. The problem with any SJM character is her sterotypes- every series after TOG, she takes one or two characters from the last one and rewrites them, with a few tweaks. Are there any original characters in her mind that she makes the main protagonists? 4/5⭐️, for a great story, good world building, good beginning characters. Good, entertaining, but not a 5⭐️. SKY AND BREATH: I'm with you on how this book was a lot more “talkie talkie” than the last one. And Bryce was missing for… 70% of the plot? I enjoyed Therion’s arc. I enjoyed Ruhn's arc. I love Ithan the puppy. But, for a book where I expected Bryce to be the main character, she sure did a lot of stuff behind the scenes that we don't know about… Until she tells us. COUGHCOUGH EMILE COUGHCOUGH. On at least 2 occasions that I recall offhand, we have no action. No scenes of what she did. She just turns around and tells us “OH YEAH! I DID IT”, and when she lays it out, you ask “Wait, WHAT? How did you make THOSE connections? And you did WHAT?”. I wish that would have been explained a bit more. Show us what Bryce did. Don’t cop out and tell us. (Also, I somewhat hated Bryce during any scene that involved Danika’s memory. All of them. Because, she turns into the biggest teenager ever. I hate it. Stop it. Danica needs to stay dead and never speak about her again. Ugh). Hmmm… maybe if SJM cut a few sex scenes and developed Bryce more… Which brings me to that- yet again, I've read 3 books in a row (AcoSF, HoEaB, HoSaB) where the sex scenes were so over the top that I was grossed out. Ew. I felt the same way in this book as I did SF- You had a great story, SJM!!! But horrible execution! What plot you had was really good. The twist at the end about the Asteri? Fantastic. I knew some spoilers, but not that. So, that was absolutely great. How Bryce one-upped her father? Delicious. The absolute ending twist I knew about wasn’t bad, and you kinda knew it was coming. But… develop that. Cut the sex scenes, fade to black, and shave off 20 pages of this monster at least. …I started hating Bryce and Hunt in this book. Especially Hunt. They came off too juvenile and stupid, especially when they are with each other. The Umbra Mortis is more the Umbra Canis Minor, drooling over the carpet whenever Bryce is around. Does he have a personality away from her? I rated this 3/5⭐️ for too much talkie, too much verbiage and repetition for no reason (especially since the worldbuilding was deepened, but most of that happened in an exposition dump at the end), and too much sex. Oh, and how Hunt is so stupidly obsessed with having sex with Bryce. FLAME AND SHADOW: Last one. Thank God. I hate Bryce. I truly, truly hate her. She's stupid, brash, self-absorbed and insufferable. She is my least favorite SJM protagonist, with little to no redeeming value. All throughout the first part of the book, her story is the most interesting- her discoveries In Prythian, her little adventure with Azriel and Nesta (which, there should be MORE Nesta/Azriel scenes. They work so well together!) is the most interesting of the storyline, and I kept wanting the other plotlines to hurry up so I could go back to that one. But DEAR GOD, her paranoia, her stupidity, her absolute narcissistic belief that she knows everything and she's always right (When she CLEARLY HAS NO IDEA WHAT SHE'S DOING) made her absolutely insufferable. Everything she does is selfish. Everything she thinks had something to do with Hunt, and how much she loves Hunt, and how much she can't live without Hunt. Ugh. There are other things, other more important things, to worry about than your mate who WILL CLEARLY BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF HIMSELF. Nesta and Azriel are clearly concerned with the entirety of Prythian. They want to protect everyone they can. Bryce can't see the forest through the effing trees. And Hunt is no better. The power cure was a deus ex machina. Let's not mince words. It's there to make every character overpowered, and that made the end feel cheap to me. Of course they were going to win. Nobody died. Even some really cool scenes at the end just… was not for me. And things wrapped up in a nice bow. So… What happens now? Oh, and though I loved the Prythian characters, I hate the multiverse thing. Not everything has to be connected, SJM! Watching Pollux, the Autumn King, Morten, Sabine, the Asteri get their penance was wonderful. My favorite characters in this were: Lidia (the AMAZING mom she is), Ithan (who screws everything up until he finally gets it right), and Hypaxia (although we needed more from her). 3/5⭐️. I got a little teary at the very end, but other than that, the book was meh. But… for me, ToG is probably my favorite series out of all of them at the moment. Because, even in the books that dragged, it felt like a complete story that was crafted carefully, it's grounded, it's got an easily understood enemy, the characters are great, and it lets the story shine through. And NO SEX. I’m debating whether to unhaul CC, or not. I will have to think. However, I love this video. Thanks for “reading” it with me!

I completely agree that the final battle in HOFAS was just too easy. Bryce Hunt is my least favorite SJM couple because they have that miscommunication aspect in every book they get. Also, I don’t know if you’re going to read TOG but there is a connection between those characters and Lydia, if you are curious. Also, I completely agree with you that I love. Feysand In ACOTAR but did not like them in A Court Of Silver Flames

I felt the same way you did about this series. My eyes were rolling around in their sockets so much. I liked the side characters way more than the main ones. Everything was so gods damned dramatic/cheesy.🤣 All that said I still liked the story line and would probably read another book in the series.

Throne of glass is one of my favorite series of all time. Acotar was ok, acomaf was good, acowar was bad to the point of selfparody, which is why I didn't immediately pick up this series when it came out, even though I was curious. Now, when I tell you I BURST out laughing when I found out Bryce meets Feyre and co. I'm glad I didn't pick this up, although your commentary was quite entertaining.

I completely agree with your overall assessment of the books: 1 was the best (least convoluted, compelling romance, felt higher stakes), 2 was a mess (didn’t care for too many of the characters or storylines, romance was mostly dead), 3 was enjoyable (but still messy, convoluted, and lacking in stakes; asteri were destroyed too easily, Bryce’s dialogue was getting on my nerves etc.). And you really hit the nail on the head with Hunt- who is he without Bryce? Compared with SJMs other male protagonists he comes across as a wet blanket. At least in book 1 he had more individuality.

Rhunn and Hunt are natural enemies, as they have been for thousands of years, one being an angel and the other being faye. Both races have superiority complexes and are very territorial and chauvinistic. They are both also on Auxiliary for their respective territories which can sometimes put them at odds as they cross paths. Although Hunt is 200+, he is still relatively young for Malakim. Rhunn is also still very young at only around 50 - 60 years old..... I think.

I’ve only read the first book and it seemed like standalone in my mind so I am here for the spoilers. But what really had me gagged in the first book was finding out it takes place at least 15,000 years in the future and yet they are still depending on our technology like emails and phones etc. Like, huh? I’ve heard that its also one alternate universe or reality amongst many, but still. 15,000 years since the big battle and y’all still FaceTiming and sending emails etc. AND y’all have magic on top of that. What? 😂

I felt the same way about the characters! Usually characters & their internal conflict & interpersonal relationships is something that SJM does so well with, but here... I did not care for any of them! They felt so surface level and entirely out of character. (I also agree with you on how Rhysand became insufferable in ACOSF -- it seemed that SJM totally lost touch with his character as well). I was shocked with how much the characters changed in HOFAS and how bad the romances/interactions were... I'd have thought after SJM taking 2 years to write it, these elements would be much more carefully constructed & authentic.

FOMO x2 right now. Lol i can’t even watch your video yet because I don’t wanna be spoiled 😂💀😩 fml p.s. of course I gave it a thumbs up anyway ❤ I’m barely in the half point of HOEAB 😰

I would say so! She does info dump a few times but she repeats things so it’s kind of easy to remember sometimes. I think you would be absolutely fine understanding Sarah’s worlds

Your danika complaints just make me think of caricanreads plot break downs and the danika picture that is just now always up there because of this exact thing you're annoyed with lol.

I agree with so many of your takes! For me, HOSAB is the worst SJM book (I've read all ACOTAR and TOG). I think she could have taken some things out of HOFAS and just started with the last 100 pages of HOSAB and it would have been a solid duology.

Haha I guess just a difference in opinion for a lot of people, but I will say I was entertained by the first book but books 2 and 3 have made me question my enjoyment for sure!

Ive never read sarahs work... But she seems like the type to think "more pages = better book"

I love that you did this with spoliers, cause I have no interest in this series and don't want to read it but I do think ACOTAR series is more entertaining. I disliked a lot of throne of glass. I also dislike that she is intertwining all the series cause I really don't wanna read CC series at all. So spoliers and summaries are what I will look into until the next acotar book comes out.

Can we talk about how the events of this book apparently took place over the course of one week??? Wtf
