An AR-15 is chambered in .556 or .223, which are very small, fast moving rifle rounds, and they don't kick very much when shot. A 30-06 (thirty ought six) is a fairly large caliber and very fast rifle round, and because F=ma that means it has a lot of energy behind it when fired and because every action has an equal opposite reaction, when there's a lot of force going forward, there's going to be a lot of force going backwards
