Harley just made Million Dollar Bogan pull his videos related with Geelong HD in Australia. An American company threatening to hurt Australian Geelong because they let MDB film entertaining videos. I'm so infuriated and disgusted with Harley. The truth is, The company is terrified of not being able to control the marketing of their products. I can tell you right away their marketing is failing them in every way possible. It's people like you Jon, and Danny, Maxwell, Blockhead, Shadetree, Sandoval etc that get me excited to Ride. There's nothing Momoa can produce under HD marketing that will inspire me to buy HD products. If you crack open a Harley Clothes advertisement they send, the Models are Soy as F and would probably drop a bike on the first right turn they would make. Who is this idiot company marketing to?

I was getting the H-D almost daily email advert. I unsubscribed, I’m not the target they seek. Yes, the models they use don’t represent anything close to what I identify with as a biker/H-D owner in a n y context. I won’t be buying their clothes, the dealership nor the parts catalogue offer much support for my early Evo Softail in the simplest of parts and when they do, the sticker shock takes time to heal. I watch all those YT channels referenced, Sandoval has obviously learned the PC game and is the softest in presentation and , to me the least entertaining, but I still want to camp @KRiver, and have considered building something similar, a bike riders destination. We all understand what pissed H-D off was the homophobic banter, and I get it. What I don’t agree with is H-D’s strong arm tactic on Colin to contain Danny or be a recipient of their punisher identifier. I hope H-D come crawling to fix their damage. I love blue, but not holding my breath to see it.

It’s how blockhead got all the Orlando Harleys map, and Seminole Harley, all his content is huge for them, same with Shadetree and Flip over at Berts Harley.. you do some great content they’d be stupid not to pick you up, Harley needs more you tubers to help bring younger riders through the doors

hd is a big corporation. they are marketing a 'safe' rebel image. your riding style is hooligan, and while very entertaining to watch; causes corporate lawyers to think 'lawsuit' if you or someone else doing wheelies or drifts gets hurt doing that on a harley. that's my .02.

Agreed, but Harley's problem is that their primary customers are getting long in the tooth and trading in their bikes for walkers. They need to figure out how to sell to customers like Jon and the followers in his demographic.

@@CaptainFeathersword , that would’ve been my uncle, grew up watching him wrench on his ‘59 Pan stretched chop. As he aged it turned into a ‘93 Softail, I bought it from my aunt after his passing. Took awhile to realize just how much biker life my childhood included, and I see that same personality trait in most bikers in their 70’s, a certain way of spilling knowledge and a confirmation of what was just said. Watch ‘Pacific Mike’ KZread channel, watch how he does a procedure and his verbal issuance and confirmation, it’s uncanny!

Desert wind also has a bad rap; trying to sell bikes at a higher price than others. Read a comment on reddit where someone was quoted like 4K+ mark up on the bike from msrp.

C'mon Jon. Don't take no for an answer. Get your hustle on. It's simple negotiation just like buying and selling a bike. Get back in there and make it happen. They're probably hurting like everyone else. They got nothing to lose. If not, try a few other places. After you try your pitch at a few places you'll be better prepared for it the more you do it. Start at the place you want least then finish at the place you prefer. It will add a zero to the end of your subscriber number. It's a win win for everyone. I don't think you need to be an employee. Maybe they can hire you as a contractor or you can sign a waiver just like everyone else does who takes a test ride it's really that simple. You're just filming your test ride. If at first you don't succeed try try again. Get after it brother! You got it.

I think, it would be a good idea for Harley to bring guys like you in. You represent the younger buyers with your way view and style of riding and testing Harleys. And THAT is exactly what Harley is going to need when they want to survive. But, from what I understand, the ones that could make that call . . . are not the ones with enough understanding of the future markets.

How i look at it: When the manager said: “I’ll talk to upper management” its the equivalent of “let me talk to my wife” . When the manager said they would have to hire you that means its a NO because then they would have to hire you which they’re not intending to. . Ashley was probably gonna get fired because of non performance and she thought bringing you on would save her job but the manager was having none of it.

Biggest reason Harley Davidson is going down the shit hole is more on the service and mechanics, you can buy a nice bike , and then after that you're very much left in the dark I had my V Rod for 6 years after up grades and an easy $40,000 later the bike looked great however the problems were starting to also add up , So in a nut shell Harley Davidson these days have bolt on mechanics and mechanics are not trained properly, I'm not saying all mechanics are but after talking to some of the guys in sales they were really sorry for the flaws in the work, I've since not only sold my V Rod , I also sold my softail, streetglide ,and 48 , all bikes had problems, and now million dollar Bogan is now treated like shit along side of Geelong Harley Davidson and that's really sad because Geelong Harley Davidson is probably the last of the real souls of Harley and Probably have the last of the real school of mechanics, I live in Queensland Australia, if I could Geelong Harley Davidson Victoria Australia is the only place I would ever buy another one, So Before you invest in a Harley Davidson don't just buy the bike find out more about the dealership on how they train their mechanics and also inspect your bike after a service, I once left the dealership and the mechanic forgot to put oil back in and the front forks the seal was put in the wrong way oil pissed out every were , also I had Burleigh Bars installed the cables were also to short I went around a corner and the front brake came on luckily I was going slow , so yer seriously check reviews and be safe. I'd now recommend an Indian Scout lots of fun and my ducati duval is a beast, and my triumph is sweet, And for Harley Davidson I'd never buy another one or even if you gave me one I'd probably only use it as a boat anchor.

Screw Harley Davidson! I went to MMI in Phoenix. Specialized in HD and graduated in 2015 top of my class. I applied to several HD dealers in multiple states. The few who did get back to me offered me a job as a lot tech for $10 an hour. Screw them! I will never buy a new HD. Edit: And this is coming from a guy who WAS gung ho about HD.

you know what would make harleys worth what they want for one? if they closed. there's probably enough of them laying around in garages everywhere they would all go up in value. im sorry but it has TWO FUKIN WHEELS ! IT'S NOT WORTH 25K.i don't care how cool it looks how fast you think it is or how it's better than your buddies bike. those are serious and expensive personal problems and barriers to real fun on a bike. keep the shiny side up... yea my bikes are old but they shine.

Quit my second engineering job ($100K+) and decided to take a service writer job at the only good HD service dept in my area. People deserve better service and my channel has mh pitch to be CEO. If I can help HD and customers f__k the money. Our tech looked af the damage other service departments did to my machine. He thinks it might be unsafe. My videos are rough, I was rough but if you want solutions make me CEO. Csr co CEOs make millions, 56% incresse for one. See what I will do.

Love all the Harley content! Totally would work for them as long as you retain 100% control of your Chanel and content. If they want certain content only and have artistic oversight would consider just walking away or build a new Channel where you get to continue to keep your original channel yours. I love what you do with learning and exploring new things around motorcycles as well as the commerce side of your Channels and like seeing the variety. Would love to see what’s next either way. Harley's are nice to look at, but I wouldn't adopt one.

Shadetree Surgeon has a relationship with his local dealer, but I kind of think the HD dealers here in AZ aren't interested in anything but selling. I really like the HD's, but when I was shopping at Roadrunner HD in Goodyear, they just kept on the pressure to buy while I needed to see and learn to know which HD I liked most. Made the mistake of giving them my phone # and I finally blocked them. The whole experience really ruined my interest.

I'm down to watch you demo any brand bike, I really enjoyed the ones you've done in the past. Should hit up others dealers too if any are around you local. Dont you have Indian near you too? Never know.

Dude that’s wild, same shit happened to me. My local Harley contacted me wanting to do essentially the same thing, I went and met up with the guy in charge of the social and we sat down talked numbers, talked about what they expected and what I expected. Said he had to swap some info with accounting and then after that meeting I didn’t hear back again. Went up there couple weeks later and one of the parts guys told me the social guy didn’t even work there anymore. Crazy.

Remember when Adam Sandoval was a Harley ride and sponsored by them. I started watching his videos made me buy my first Harley. All that he did for their brand and they dropped his sponsor. Indian picked him up and gave him to beautiful Indian bikes. Million Dollar Bogan did so much shit for Harley to get their name out. He always praised his Harley's. Put them through hell and back! Remember Harley just turned into Merch company!!!

The worse thing about Adam's situation is he got hurt fulfilling his contract with Harley. When he couldn't ride because of his accident Harley pulled the rug out from him and basically gave him the finger. I was super pissed at Harley for that. It looks like the new president or whoever patched things up because he got a new Roadglide at some point.

I watch your channel because you ride different motorcycles from many companies. Plenty of You Tubers doing Harley-Davidson content. Just saying...

You need to find a non-corporate Harley Davidson dealership. Find a store that is family owned in a sense where there is one guy who owns the store and is directly involved with the store. Sometimes that can be a smaller shop sometimes that guy can own up to five stores maybe.

Harley needs all the help it can get at this point, they need young people excited about their products. The clientele they have been relying on for decades is old and not buying anymore. It’s their own short sightedness that’s damning them to fade into the sunset....

A lot of dealerships are going through changes right now and even closing; one local dealership closed completely, and another one sold and is moving location. It would probably be best to wait till all the covid crap passes and Harley-Davidson begins to stabilize.

I watch your videos and other stunt videos regularly and riding bikes, I am amazed at what you guys do on your bikes. One question I think is, “how often do you get pulled over on public roads”? I know a lot of what you do is in parking lots etc. but it may be that they’ve seen you on streets in traffic or whatever and don’t want to risk the liability. I’m all for what y’all do, just my thoughts. Anyway, keep it up. If this stuff was happening 25 years ago, I’d be all in!!! 🤠 #upontwo

Could be they didn’t get you cause you sell bikes. I know my experience as a mechanic, I used to work at a dealership, and the higher up said NO doing side jobs at home. That would be competition with the dealership shop. Went the same with the Bodyshop to. Did people still do it? Probably. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The main office in Milwaukee wants nothing to do with privateers. Mostly over lawsuits and very little control.

As an Ex Harley Mechanic I am not surprised. They are a very cheap company and all about taking as much money as they can. The going rate for harley repairs is $100/ hour and the best mechanics get less than 20% of that. The bikes have a lot of cheap plastic stuff made to look like chrome. My mechanic friends who still work in dealerships joke that they can no longer afford to own one, and they have become bikes for dentists and doctors. RUB city baby

Check out GoAz in Scottsdale lots of brands there and they own Scottsdale HD next door too. Bob Parsons is big on marketing.

Have you been to MMI already and have completed the required PHD videos? That is the minimum requirement to work there.

I say "Know your worth". Don't go seeking alignment with a brand or dealer. Let them come to you and then you can control the terms. The MDB and Adam Sandoval lessons learned were that the brand wants to be in control. Adam found out as soon as he added multi brands to his channel he picked up 70k subs in one month. Stay in control of your own brand I say.

Keep the hustle going jon. If not try a bunch of dealers. Would love to see some Indian motorcycles content. Doesn’t have to stop at Harley.

HD has some very strange rules about marketing and even selling parts. If you have a logo even resembling the HD shield you will get sued if they find out. Their loss in your case. I won't be buying a new HD ever but your insights would be great to see.

I just linked up with a local dealership and did a LiveWire test ride. At the beginning I asked if I could film, was told yes. After the ride, the salesman introduced me to the manager of the dealership chain and he loved the idea of featuring their bikes on my youtube channel! So, I'll get more H-D content in the upcoming months!
