Recently, I got the opportunity to analyze a song that was mixed at the iconic Dean Street Studios in the Soho district of London. This is the same studio that legends like David Bowie and Tony Visconti used to work out of.
I was able to gain access to this mix through my friendship with the London-based indie artist Roselynd (IG: @roselyndmusic).
In this video, I'm going to share 5 things I learned from analyzing this professionally recorded and mixed song, "Deep Sea Diver" by Roselynd.

Your analogy to film reminded me of something a director once said, “you always have more than you need to tell the story but never have as much as you want”. Really emphasizing the need to highlight all the good stuff you already have.
Thanks for taking us on the inside of this production and great advice about the importance of the pre-mixing parts of the process. A good song, well arranged, will sound great with just volume balancing.
Thanks for the advice, this is really helpful.
Great advice. I just bought a tambourine from a charity shop (thrift store) for £1! Adds so much. I always thought reverb should be about the same on everything so it all sounds like it's in the same space, so it's good to know you can mix it up like this.
Great presentation !
Nice to see only 32 tracks... so many producers/mixers seem to think that they have to use 256 tracks to compete, and they just end up making things a mess!
How to mix vocals like fazerdaze in lucky girl ?
