The short version of why Jing Yuan stole one of his own pieces is because the game shown in the start was destined to end in a draw, Jing Yuan was gonna steal his piece and move it somewhere else to solve the draw. If you want to learn more about Chinese Chess (Xiang Qi) and why the game shown in the trailer was destined to end in a draw, I highly recommend a video uploaded by BerrieBear. Edit: An endgame like the one in the trailer has a name in Chinese Chess, it is literally called "Immortality" or "Eternal Life" because the game would go on forever with no end in sight, which symbolizes Xianzhou Luofu's current struggles. Jing Yuan breaking the rules to solve the game shows his determination as a General to solve this problem no matter the cost.

The piece Jing Yuan takes is on the board at the start in the corner to his right. When he slams the leaf down, it's gone and you can see his right hand moving out of shot. Also, Jing Yuan is best Daddy. More than happy to cheat in order to lose so his adorable little boy wins.😂

He stole the piece in the bottom most corner to his right a second before he slammed the leaf to draw attention. And yes it is implied that piece could've overtaken Yanqing's last move and he did it in order to let him win.

It's actually been stated by other commenters that the current state of the board before Jing Yuan stole the piece wasn't coincidental, but rather a well-known setup by those who know the game. It was a setup referred to by Masters of the game as "Immortality". In other words, neither side could make a move where they could win. But Yanqinq hadn't noticed, and was too busy trying to win. It's meant to represent the current situation the Xianzhou Luofu finds itself in, with neither the Xianzhou nor the Mara-Stricken really able to come out on top of one another. When Jing Yuan stole the piece, it was essentially him showing that he was willing to do whatever it takes to find a path out of the current situation. The specific piece he stole is known as the "Chariot", which in other cases can be translated to "train". I.e, the Trailblazer. Basically, Jing Yuan hopes that our arrival will be what is required in order to save the Luofu from it's current state. And yes, he stole the piece not so he could win, but so that he could let Yanqinq win. But Yanqinq noticed.

5:34 yup it's true, the aggressive line mention by CyYu was in CBT a few months ago. Hoyo use another version which calm but strict line for official release . I think it's much more suitable in this case as he is a seasoned warrior and highest authority

As someone who has had their eyes on Jing Yuan since the first time I saw him even before the game was out, I just have to say... Holy shit, your voice for him is SO SEXY. It's something about that darker, and lower pitch of it that just makes me feel things. It's sultry to my ears. BUT the voice also has layers, which makes it even better! I'm the type of person that always pays the greatest attention to voices, it does so much for a character. You did such a fantastic job, and you're honestly starting to become one of my favorite VA's out there!

the contrast between your character energy vs IRL energy is like the difference between Cyno story vs events and i love it!

I pulled Jing Yuan because he reminds of Zhongli. From having Yan Qing as his kid (ehem Xiao ehem), the Lighting Lord summoning (meteor from sky), chinese fashion to the deep voice. He's perfect!

Wise general once said "Steal your own pieces to make opponents fear you and left them confused. Eat your pieces to left no traces of it."

At 2:22 there was 3 yellow pieces at jingyuan side but at 2:36 there r only 2 . He stole the corner piece .

I'm generally really bias with JP VAs but ever since I've started Genshin and Honkai, hoyo surely knows how to find the gems. I love and enjoy the performances of voices they choose for the game. Esp Cy Yu, he's one of the best!

Me who has electro luck easliy got him and all tingyun cons even before jing yuan's banner is so darn crazy😂. Why its still continuing in hsr? Like what?. I never lose 50/50 no any electro. I even got raiden from zero pity with 23 pulls only c1. I thought hsr would gonna be different but not🤔

I can understand why they made the desicion to make you re-record those lines. While the way you personally do it is better because it sounds more aggressive, it doesn’t fit the context of the trailer. This is because the general is playing with Yanqing. Of course he’s not gonna go all in this time. By the way, your voice just fits the character perfecly. God it’s so satisfying to hear!

What I like about your voice acting, is that not only you sound good but the way you say things with the tone/ annotation is believable and not awkward sounding.
