Org melayu ni penuh rasa adab, sopan santun walau pada bangsa asing, hormat menghormati bangsa lain, boleh bertolal ansur malah mudah memaafkan...tapi tu lah apabila org melayu terlalu bertolak ansur maka ada bangsa lain pula pijak kepala minta lebih2 malaysia malaysian dari tuan tanah sendiri...akhirnya satu hari nanti org melayu di malaysia tiada keistimewaan lagi kerna di ragut semua hak2 istimewa itu oleh bangsa lain

Uncle Roger would approve: 1. Food from outside kitchen=genuine honouring of guest, 2. Fresh ingredients from back garden, 3. MSG,yess!👍 To do this just for 1 guest/person with the whole family joining you is extremely rare these days. This is Malaysian hospitality in its purest form. You are very blessed and loved, Kaz-san.💪💓🤗😋

In traditional Malay house, they have 2 kitchen. One inside and another one outside the house. If you want to know you are very welcome guest, you can see they prepare foods for you using outside kitchen. Because for kitchen inside of the house, it usually just for simple food preparation only. Just like cooking for feast for welcomed guest.

5:25 Pecah minyak is a key stage in Malay cooking. It's the stage when the cooking oil floats to the top of whatever paste (usually chilli paste) you are cooking because all the moisture has evaporated - then only your paste is considered well cooked.

They would usually cooks certains meals for each day so you can check with them what's the 'food of the day' regularly. Side note: I usually book meals from them for entire Ramadhan month (for berbuka) since works are too busy and Foodpanda food would usually arrive only after berbuka time. 5 stars definitely!

Having two kitchen in malaysia is normal kaz hahahha one dry kitchen (inside) and one wet kitchen (outside). As you have just experienced, malaysia has a lot of cooking that requires to ‘menumis’ and ‘pecah minyak’. Cooking this kind of dish inside the house will cause all the furniture inside to smell like the dish. Though not everyone would do this but it is common for a malaysian house

Very yummy nasi lemak this is traditional nasi lemak originated time immemorial from kampung. The shrimp paste is the catalyst for the sambal to give you additional flavour to the delicious nasi lemak when you combined with the coconut santan plus the fragrant pandan. It is not only delicious but nutritious. The chicken rendang give you extra calories and oomph. You must burn them by doing extra household's chores or exercise.

PECAH MINYAK means the oil separates from the spices, after being cooked for some time. the same technique used in indian cooking for curry

my family don't use aji. my grandma never did and my mom don't like using it. sometimes we bought the smallest packet, i don't even know why. but we never use it. it ended up expired in the cupboard hehehe. if people in the olden days could make food taste good without it, why can't we?
