I Am Installing an New Windlass, Do I Run the Large Wire All the Way to the Busbar At the Battery?
"Jeff, I am installing a new electric windlass with 2/0 wire. Do I wire my windlass to my switched distribution bar where my DC panel is wired? Or, do I run the wire all the way back to the busbar nearest the battery on the unswitched side?" - Jordan

Very clear
Good evening Jeff. First off, your work for community, nothing short of incredibly generous. You have a heart of gold. I do have a very similar question for a design idea on my up coming windlass install. I have 2/0 going battery to my switched distribution. I'm running my windlass' 2/0 off the distribution side of that switch. I'm also fusing and an on off switch in the windlass 2/0 shortly after the switch distribution. Is there any safety flaw in the design or am I missing something critical all together?
Great videos Jeff. Windlass related question I have a 23ft boat and my battery bank is about 3ft from the stern. Would you fit a separate battery at the bow for the windlass keeping the power cable short (which is my preferred idea) or run a long cable to current battery bank? either way this battery would need a long cable installed weather it’s to power the windlass or to charge the windlass battery that has been fitted at the bow thanks in advance.
Another excellent video Jeff. Thanks.
Hi Jeff. When installing an anchor winch is it best to be on the house (switched distribution panel) or on the start batteries (switched distribution panel) as the engine will be running when using the anchor winch? I have a VSR and emergency combine switch between these two banks.
Jeff would it be acceptable on a boat to have a relay to open and close the circuit in this type of installation?
Thanks Jeff for your video. One additional question. In your opinion the windlass should be connected switched to a house battery or to an engine battery?? Navigation lights too, right?
Hey Jeff, what's your thoughts on older boats like Hatteras with 32v? Up the voltage to 36? Stay the same and spend the time working around it? Or is there another option I haven't considered
hello from slovenia after i look this i check my boat and i notice on negative for windlass i have 100a fuse and on positive 120a fuse is that good , bad or ussles?
Hi Jeff, where IS the battery for the windlass located on the Lagoon 380
If I have a Battery in the bow to power my windlass and the bow thruster, will an isolated b to b charger ground my bow battery?
I would like to install a windlass. I only have a 9.9 horsepower what generator do you recommend
Can anyone help me? Bought a five oceans windlass. Build quality is terrible. Can't seen to find any windlass for g4 chain that's got good reviews. We need one that's not too big for our 35' cat. It's actually a small cat. Anyways, we're about at the end of our rope getting bad products and the online reviews just can't be trusted. HELP!!! PLEASE!!! 😥
Separate battery for the WINDLASS?
Yeah for proper terminology!
