Have you noticed there is a lack of Korean reaction videos to OOO? I mean I've watched vlogs from a couple of Korean Lyons but there are not many of them on youtube.

Welcome to my ult group haha. Honestly im so proud of their bravery in continuing to speak about lgbt+ issues and storylines and uplift lgbt+ fans. If you would like to learn more about the members i can give recommendations for more onlyoneof content such as their behind the scenes for the BE series, their newest album Things I cant say lOve (title track: dopamine), if you like raunchy lyrics i can recommend Tear of gOd, dOra Maar, gaslighting, etc. theres very few tiktok compilations on youtube unfortunately and as far as i am aware they are about a year old so not the most up to date. Finally, Onlyoneof are currently on their Things I Can't Say LOve World Tour! They have just completed their Asia and Latin America stops and have begun their USA and Canada stops! I just bought my tickets for Europe and UK yesterday. They will be visiting South East Asia and Oceania in May i believe. Tickets are cheap (GA £35, VIP £50-100) so if you have the time i highly recommend popping by and supporting :)

I'm so happy you checked out OnlyOneOf! The production-right?!? Their sound is so good, like a mixture of dark heavy synth but also soft-r&b vibe? 😂 And hey, I know some of the members, definitely Nine and KB, have contributed to making some of the songs. Not only are their voices just angelic - the dancing! You gotta see them do some full out choreo - they're so good!

Ah OnlyOneOf!!! I love them so much. Yoojung's Begin introduced me to them and I was so shocked at how much they don't bow to prejudice, and the artistry of their stuff. The stories, concepts, and performances are so good. They deserve a much bigger audience. I hope they tour near me one day I would love to see them live.

So thrilled you're getting to one of my fave groups! Their concept is based on the art theory of Kandinsky and the psychological theories of Freud, focusing on the relationship and conflict btw individuals (esp. minorities) and society/moral codes/religion. Their concept universe moved from 1st album representing 1 dimension (a "point") and 2nd album representing 2 dimensions (a "dash") to later albums representing 3+ dimensions, as they also move from black & white moral ideas to more shades of grey. They've chosen to focus on lgbtqia+ matters to best illustrate their concept, and I applaud it. LibidO is from the album 'Instinct pt. 1', referring to Freud's idea of the life instinct being fundamentally based on the sex instinct (the next album, 'Instinct pt 2' was based on Freud's idea of the death instinct). The album as a whole is basically a gay coming-of-age story, and the mv visuals reference a bunch of indie gay films and series. The solo mvs also have film references, including the 1st 2 solos being shot and lit in the style of Wong Kar-wai. You asked about their production, and they have a group of producers they work with regularly, such as Haeil and Napier, but also did 2 albums with guest producers more known for their k-hiphop work, and one album that was wholly self-produced. The leader/maknae Nine and eldest member KB are the main producers within the group, also co-writing several of the solos.

i've just started getting into them as well, and i absolutely love them. their music, visuals, dance, and personalities are all top tier.

If you were confused about Mill's character and the "swallow" verse, his character is obviously being bullied in a school environment and he pretty much takes it, he swallows being beat up on a daily basis (beat it beat it beat it, he repeats). When you see Mill rapping, his glasses are off, he becomes his alter ego, Mill the rapper, not the student who gets bullied/beaten up every day, and he can express himself through his words. At least, that's how I interpret that verse. I know OnlyOneOf are exploring sexuality/relationships in these MVs, but there are other themes to be talked about as well.

Did anyone in the comments let you know to watch the lights in the telephone booth? The lights are an insight into the emotions and nature of each character at the time when they are at the phone booth. Sometimes the lights are twinkling, or mute, or full on streaming. It's a beautiful connective set piece between the MVs. As for the cinematography, Begin (the first solo MV with Yoojung) was influenced by Won Kar Wai's ChungKing Express, there are set-ups and lighting element similarities that are pulled from the movie to highlight certain concepts.
