So are people who don’t own a ps1 not allowed to play the classics unless they buy a ps1? These Remasters are exactly what these games needed, all the expansions and secret levels included is HUGE DEAL especially for people who don’t own a PC and never played the expansions either. It’s just a way to please the classic fans that use modern consoles and to introduce the newer generation to classics, which is a great thing. And if you’re just a purist that’s fine you literally have the option of playing with the original polygon look and the modern graphics and switch between them at ANY point. Also Tank controls will remain intact but modern controls will also be an option.

Sounds like the alternative is from-the-ground-up remake, and then it costs AAA pricing for each of the three games!

You can switch between the original graphics and the new graphics. I imagine the new graphics should be better, hopefully... And the remastered versions support widescreen and have all the additional gold levels. Hopefully we can switch between using manual save mode and save crystals. I'll be buying it.

I'm worried about this tomb raoder remaster because lack of actual footage and it's low budget. Less than 2 weeks from release and no footage. Hope this isn't just a cash grab. I hope they remaster 4 and chronicles as TR 4 is my favourite from the ps1 days. I've pre order this triligy but now getting worried.

I don't think anyone's arguing that it's not happening in multiple places. They're just sad that it happened in general, there's no real security in any job If you think about it, anyone can be let go from any job. Hopefully everyone lands on their feet. But this happens consistently with Xbox. They really need to improve their management and put on more games. They have so many studios yet so little first party releases.

The physical for Tomb Raider 1-3 remastered got announced the other day from LRG. It's finally happening and I'm so happy and excited. I haven't played them yet. I've been waiting to see. I buy from LRG a lot. I'm also happy about hi fi rush getting a physical for ps5 and Xbox series x with LRG. I'm getting both😊.

AI texture upscaling can achieve amazing results. For an example, look at the mods for FF7, FF8, and FF9 that fans have made. It's not just getting AI to give it the once over. Human artists will oversee the results and tweak them. In the case of these FF fan projects, obviously time is no issue, so the results are largely outstanding. It's possible the team on Tomb Raider won't be given enough time to perfect it. But AI isn't automatically a bad thing.

Yes, Aspyr also said they had help from Crystal Dynamics, who provided them with new textures. So, they are not just using an AI program to upgrade the visuals.

I've been wanting to get into the original tomb raider games. But I can't deal with tank controls in a game with platforming elements, ive been too spoiled. I still think I'll probably end up getting this remaster. Plus I don't want to invest in Buying an original playstation and a copy of all the games, I am on a limited budget after all. I definitely understand your concern about the AI texture mapping and it is valid that it might end up looking rather meh.

7:20 physical release is confirmed not coming out so I'm not buying it digital. Fk them with their forced digital movement. The only hero's now is LRG's to see if they will do a physical.

It's more about bringing the games up to date to better run on modern systems. The original PC versions of Tomb Raider games ran on DOS and windows 95 using DirectX 1-8. In order to play the originals on a modern PC you have to do a lot of tinkering with windows settings and in some cases have to use DOSbox or another 3rd party launcher/graphics wraper like dgvoodoo.
