I am ashamed that women are so simple

This brief but lovely song is from the finale of the stage musical, Kiss Me, Kate. It was recorded (by me) on a Sony reel-to-reel tape deck during a live performance of Kiss Me, Kate by the Bowral Choral Society in 1978, in Bowral, N.S.W., Australia.
The beautiful soprano voice belongs to June Buchan, who had the role of Kate and who was a long-time member of the society and resident on the Southern Highlands. The male voice at the beginning is that of Garth Chambers, who had the male lead in the production.
I was a member of the cast and, for many years, I thought that the portions of this 'play-within-a-play' that were supposedly Shakespearean dialogue were merely Cole Porter's words. However, in recent years, I have realised that much of the Taming of the Shrew dialogue is practically word-for-word, including at least the first half of this lovely song. So ladies, if you have a complaint...... take it to Shakespeare!!
