This is a beautiful old gospel song that came out of the "Brush Arbor" revival meetings of the 1800s (author unknown). It correctly identifies Believers with the true Biblical Pilgrim nature mentioned in Hebrews 11:13, "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth." Several decades ago, I adopted this as my "Life Song".
We did a 6 part Bible Study series at Southern Oaks Church in Kerrville from 10/26/22 through 12/7/22. The last of the series was titled, "Out of Egypt" and dealt with the Christian pilgrimage as seen in type in the Nation of Israel coming out of Egypt, and eventually getting into Canaan, "The Promised Land".
My old hands don't work like they used to, so please forgive the clinkers and just enjoy this great old song which is here tendered to help us understand and appreciate our Pilgrim nature.
