I always thought that Alaska was the largest 😭

Ойын-сауық

What is the largest country subdivision in the world?
This might appear to be a tough question at first, but what I mean by this is what is the largest state or province in the entire world. Alaska might be a good first guess, but it quickly becomes apparent that this couldn't be further from the truth. As it turns out, Russia is home to the largest subdivisions in the world, the largest being the Sakha Republic, which is huge enough to be the 8th largest country in the world.

I mean it's easy to understand why. Siberia is huge as shit and because sakha republic has basically no people the government can make a bigger subdivision with low people which is easy to govern. The Indian economy used to be the highest is the world along with china. It controlled 1/4th of the world's wealth. But since the 1700s instability and British rule downright destroyed the Indian economy. And post independence the Indian economic management was shit causing little growth. The Indian economy did not open up until the 1990s and it has been one of the fastest growing economies in the world. California has the silicon valley and is an economic hub and several years of proper economic management and resource efficient governance made it rich as shit. Looking at this it's not a surprise how comparable these subdivisions are to India.

I'm Sakha and I would like to answer the most popular questions here: 1. The Yakut language is part of the Turkic group of languages, but due to the remoteness from the main group, our language is not very similar to the rest (we have similar numbers, some words and the basics of word formation). Also, because of our isolation, our language is similar to the ancient Turkic. 2. On the territory of modern Yakutia in the 16-17 centuries, a huge number of nomadic tribes (Evenks, Evens, Dolgans and others) lived. When our ancestors came from Central Asia and settled here, mixing with these tribes began and this is how the modern Yakuts appeared (the historical theory of the appearance of our people) 3. We are pagans. Our world is divided into three levels (1. The upper world, in which our gods sit at different levels. 2. The middle world is the world of people in which people live in harmony with nature. In the middle world, ichchi (spirits of the forest, spirits of rivers, spirits of mountains, etc.) 3. The lower world is the world of evil spirits (abaahy) And there are also guides to these worlds - shamans, they can be both women and men. 4. By nature, the Yakuts are very isolated from each other, in the old days each clan lived in a separate area, I believe that this has survived to this day, since the republic is divided into 34 districts and they are all very different, in each of them there are people look different and speak different dialects. 5. In the 17th century, Russian Cossacks came to us, who discovered new lands to the east of the Ural Mountains. At this time, the Yakut clans were moving towards uniting into a single state under the leadership of the head of a large and influential clan. Russian conquerors came, began to demand yasak (fur tax), most of the clans did not want to obey and fought back. The Russians exterminated men, took women and children prisoner, burned villages. They did a lot of terrible things, but history is silent about this. Despite the fact that the Yakuts had a highly developed metallurgy, they still lost and were forced to pay yasak for several more centuries. 6. In 1982, our Republic had its own constitution, its own president and local parliament, but a few years ago our constitution was taken away and the post of president is no more. 7. In Yakutia (as well as in Siberia as a whole) there are a lot of minerals: diamonds, oil, gas, gold, silver, even uranium), but according to the stupid laws of our country, "everything that lies underground is the property of the state." All these resources are extracted by Russian companies that pay taxes to Moscow, therefore, from these resources, the republic receives only that its beautiful virgin nature is spoiled by mining companies. Oil is sold to Europe, gas and timber to China, diamonds will soon run out. 8. About why Yakutia did not separate from Russia and whether it should calve. I will say this, about a million people now live in Yakutia, half of which are Yakuts, and the other half are Russians, Ukrainians, Kyrgyz and many other peoples who have been living here for a long time. And this is very little. Yakutia has no army, little money and no opportunity to become a full-fledged country right now, because nothing on our land belongs to us now. So I think it's impossible. At least for now. 9. About the influence of Russians on our culture. After forcibly joining the Russian Empire, the Yakuts were forcibly baptized, and then given Russian names and surnames. The Yakut alphabet was changed to Cyrillic. In general, the great influence of the Russian language is noticeable, in our language there are many borrowed words from the Russian language, altered in their own way. 10. Yakutia (also Siberia and the Far East) was a place where various criminals were sent, as well as political exiles, etc. Many very educated people were sent here, whose views did not coincide with the main ideology of the country, and these people were engaged in the education of the locals, wrote a lot of works here and greatly helped the cultural development of our region. 11. From the end of the 19th century, the active formation of the Yakut intelligentsia began. But with the advent of Soviet power, repressions began of local politicians, writers, and in general of all influential people who could form opposition views or insist on sovereignty. Most often they were accused of espionage, since at that time there was an active intervention of the United States, Japan and China in the Far East. In some years it was even forbidden to speak the Yakut language. 12. Previously, the territory of the republic was much larger and included part of the nears regions and even had access to the Sea in the east, where there was a port through which trade with Japan took place. I would glad if it help you)
