Splashing some superglue on your prop and then bombing a quarry is the paramotoring equivalent of "Slap some dirt in that wound and get back on the battlefield, soldier!"

It's really not... That analogy doesn't really match up. Super glue might not be the factory way to fix a prop but it does work in a pinch.

Be the fix.or problm. No inbetwwen where are you
Dude!! You completely screwed your prop tips by delaminating them with a 4 mile water foot drag, then, instead of grounding your gear (which was the sensible thing to do) until proper repairs could be effected, you jury-rig superglue the tips, take off again, and go dive bomb the rock quarry pulling all kinds of maneuvers in completely janky air in extremely close proximity to the walls and floor of the rock quarry before climbing out and going home. I don't have to say it, you already know. Every street, sidewalk, and footpath of Wright Patterson Air Force Base bears the name of a pilot who took off thinking all was well and who wound up drilling a hole in the ground with their face because something went wrong and they lost control and it was not recoverable. You're so good at what you do that you've lost all fear of it. I love you man. I'm saying it today because there may not be a tomorrow.
Glad you have so much faith in superglue to risk flying in a quarry with no margin for error...

Well, that is VERY good to know, and in retrospect, makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing a great story... Your way of telling it is ALWAYS entertaining!
Ayyy tucker uploaded!
I was leaving the house til I saw your headline😮love your videos. I sat back down and watched. You might be the bravest athlete I’ve ever seen because you went right back out again. You’re amazing!😮❤😊
Love your work Tucker! I saw the title "prop failure" and thought wow not very often you hear of an e- prop "failure". Turns out it didn't fail- you damaged it, lol. Keep up the good work m8.
Wow, a a context banner on a Tucker Gott video. You've made the big time. Glad things worked out ok. That would have been a helluva walk out.
Very helpful story for PPG guys. Still interesting for us people who appreciates your craft. Stay safe!
That Waterdrags look soo damn smooth :) I would be to scared to do it for now - can you make a helmet vlogging audio updated video? or would you still use the "old" hardware?
Oh man Tuck, great adventure.. with a super glue ending.. Cant believe a little water could be so damaging.... Good job, man.... Hope to see a campout with you guys around s fire.

The limiting factor on prop design is the tip speed exceeding the speed of sound. You heard of a waterjet cutter? Same principle with the near supersonic water (Relative) hitting the edge bonds of the fiberglass cloth.
Happy you're safe. I know you know, but like everything always Respect always safe
Video from tucker nice 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊
Thanks for your video. It's first time video has "Context" menu.
Really good call on not pushing the motor to get back to The LZ. Prolonged full power could have blown the prop apart.
Bro almost disappeared and became history with the NJ Bermuda Triangle.
Just so you know- I am subscribed and notified. But, yet, I haven't been informed when your videos are published for the last three months. What the Hell is wrong with KZread? And what can I do about it?
"playing around with my speed bar" bro your 10 foot off the ground, too low XD 😂
I bet that once that damanged prop was at higher RPM, that open seam on the leading edge widened even more, completely disrupting the airflow. On the ground,, it didn't look all that bad. I'm glad the superglue/baking soda fix worked - but I'm not sure I'd have trusted it to dive down into a quarry lol!
I guess, as with high diving, water becomes a solid at velocity! That was interesting to learn Tucker, and now we all know every time you foot drag, hours of flight time on the prop vaporize. Cool!
Love your video ..... tell you the truth, I shit my pants when you did those dives !!!

Was that Vito’s wing? And did he drop his Paramotor 🤣😂 epic video dude
You certainly thought that out nicely. Coool as a cucumber I say!!! Who would have though H2o vs. carbon fiber…….. now we know! Great vid as always Mr. T!
When it delaminated the corner tip bent under the pressure and the imbalance of the prop pressure under load killed your prop power output capacity. Glad you were smart enough to run mid power and limp back. And glad it wasn't an engine issue. Keep living our dreams safely.
i did that same thing a couple months ago but i had a previous prop injury that caused a more catastrophic failure. I wound up with a forced landing, half my wing wet, and a mile hike to the nearest road to be picked up.
@gregsteele806

That's rough. Glad you're all right.
Do you think the blade being carbon fiber has a different reaction to water spray? Would props made of other material be less susceptible?
flying into that quarry with a half-assed repair that could fail at any moment seems like asking for major problems
Thanks for this T! Your going to have some of the coolest craziest stories for the kids!!
I live on the other side of the east gap. All the weather flows through there. Crazy thunderstorms and heavy snow. You can see the old road that leads to the foundations over there now.
Your from the only part of Jersey I'm not familiar with. Lol! Born and raised in Atlantic County. Like 20mins from Atlantic City! So intrigued with this sport. Just found it yesterday. Obsessed!
Great demo for how prop tape kills your fuel efficiency. Even very minor changes to the tip of the blade have huge effect.
Love the context disclaimer that KZread put under your Bermuda Triangle video. 😳😳😳
I grew up going to the round valley reservoir all the time, so weird to see it from this angle haha
Tucker no insult good assessment of symptoms of flight, perhaps though no audio music while flying over water doing foot drags I bet you would of quit that earlier if you'd heard better, that's risky biscuits in definition. Kind of scary. Take care amigo Haven't you mentioned water drowning risk several times in past
I imagine that gradual change would be very difficult for any pilot flying to notice. The sheer joy of dragging a foot in the water skiing round the pond, quite wisely staying close to the shore would have assisted any initial confirmation bias that it might be imagined. This is really useful information as those blades where delaminating where the blade was fastest and on the critical trailing edge of the wing and cause turbulence reducing the effectiveness of the wing where it generates a lot of thrust but it's not something you can see till after landing. Flawless piloting getting back to the park! Be interesting to see what you can do to reduce that as it looks super good fun skiing the lake. Kinda like power speed riding on water!!
Tucker! Please TRY attaching your most powerful motor to the back of a 35-40 sail boat. If it could get 8 knots that would be epic.
Video from tucker🎉🎉
Extremely important information. Thank you so much Dear friend 🙏 Glad you landed safely.
There's no town at the bottom of Round Valley. There used to be, but the whole town was flattened during construction. There are pictures in a book I was reading at the library.
Miroslav from Scout has a video with dissected props from several manufacturers. You may want to have a look at those prop internal constructions. E-prop is great and superlight for the price of some internal rigidity. It basically has almost no solid leading edge. You may want to cover your e-prop's leading edge with some suitable tape (I wonder why they don't cover it in factory) - and waterfootdrag as long as you like!
Superglue is great, I've fixed 2 props with it now.
When I saw the thumbnail, my gonest reaction was, " OH HELL NAH"
I have an E22 pro prop. Am going to setup a misting rig. Just to see how long it takes to delumate. It would be interesting to see.
Dude,nice tree pylon run🤙
I think we need a random flight with your cat video. Get the bubble suitcase with the dome window. 😂
peace out dude
Have you ever used the Vitorazi prop? It is much stronger than e-prop but with a small performance sacrifice. It might be a good option for over water flights. Glad you made it back to the LZ.

Well Tucker as long as you learned something then your mistake was a teaching moment. Fortunately you have the experience with your equipment and knew what to do to get yourself to a safe place. It surprised me that water could have such an affect on a propeller. I guess all the new materials that make the propeller lightweight and balanced and faster speeds are not designed for water play!
Remember your friend who assembled an electric paramotor? Which contains 10s of DC fans.. You can challenge this giant power bank with his giant power consumer.
While boarding a Boeing I always pray to the Lord for quailty of superglue the crew has used to repair damaged turbine blades

I’d like for you to fly over the N.J. Pine Barrens looking for Big Foot. That’s NJ’s hotspot. Maybe late evening shining a huge light down looking for red eye shine. Tucker Gott’s Monster Quest. Talk about massive KZread hits! Yikes!
The fact that KZread feels the need to fact check videos on something as innocuous as the Bermuda Triangle is telling.
Was the delamination on the leading edge of the propellor? That would be horrendous. Is there some construction which binds the leading and trailing edge of the propellor so this CANNOT happen? Glad you made it out.
come and fly scotland bro
I saw someone posting about this a while back on Facebook, I've been avoiding water.
Looking jacked. P90X?
I love watching your videos. I'm not in any shape to ever try paramotoring, but I do have a question. You have the skill and knowledge to get that close to the edge of having problems. The information on how your prop was damaged, with the engine putting out full thrust but the prop being the problem, might actually save someone's life someday. Are there any precautions or types of equipment that would have prevented the problem from happening?
@TheArf200
10 ай бұрын
To help prevent this from happening, it is common to tape the leading edge with clear vinyl. Single layer of Prop tape helps to prevent watter and small pebble damage when foot dragging. He mentions it at about 8:43. Also could switch to a Helix prop as the tend to be a bit tougher than Eprops, but the Helix doesn't spool up as fast as the Eprop. Just something to consider when looking a different props.

Bro that was a lil negligent going back with a super glue fix. Not worth the risk (no pun attended). What would we do without you? Please next time take the loss and go another day when your equipment is safer. Love you Tucker stay safe brother.
hmmm... probably the delamination allowed the prop to twist out of shape and you lost all the AoA on it over the delaminated part of the blade length. Water is non compressible so the drops smacking the propeller at the tip might as well be tiny rocks or sand. Not as abrasive of course but the impact forces will be similar.
I'm not old enough to remember it, but I think there used to be a Super Glue commercial from the 70's or 80's, where a construction worker was hanging from a girder by his hat or something, because it got glue on it. I never imagined someone would essentially test the premise of that commercial in real life.
Is this the Quarry near Nesahnic? I’m like 10 mins from it
Boys will play. Glad you never hurt your meat and clothing. Good video. Pax.
Tucker, the US Navy needs sharp guys like you to fly fighters and land on aircraft carriers. You’re not too old. Go see a recruiter.
How the carbon propeler shred like that :O damn
I've often wondered what it would be like for you if you took a small wakeboard with you that you could slip your feet into while flying. Take your water skimming to the next level. Might be fun!
Hard to imagine that little bit of damage cost 40% of thrust after you foot-dragged just that short amount of time. By the way, I'm enjoying the Sky Dye edition T-shit. thought I got the wrong size, but turns out, it's the right size. LOL Thanks for the video! :)

Tucker, for the field repair on the prop, aren't you worried about a balance issue or are those props really not prone to being affected by that?

In general aviation there is no such thing as field repair on a composite prop To do a proper repair you’d use a similar epoxy and press the tips while it sets.

Have you ever thought of trying a TOROIDAL PROPELLER?
Where is the kayak video ?
They'd have found you. Just have to follow the fuel/oil slick. Like the USS Arizona.
Question to Tucker (or anyone else here who knows this particular NJ area) : If ur motor or equipment did fail somehow and forced u to land by this reservoir, and u had to hike out thru the forest, are there any dangerous animals (cougars, bears, wolves, coyotes etc.) that could kill u or cause serious physical injury, and should u be carrying some kind of weapon as a safeguard for protection?? At least a handgun? After all, u do fly over a lot of forested area out there. 🤔
Proud of your airmanship and reaction here!!!!
Its not called Superglue" for nuthin 😅
I'm surprised that it did that. I mean, if you were to get hit by rain, you would have went down. That propeller is a safety hazard and should NOT be sold, and even should be recalled!
@Pierre-louisGanne
10 ай бұрын
It’s not the same. The amount and speed of the water when you foot drag is way more important than rain, also we try to avoid flying in the rain.
Brother you really need to get your trike and go save Judson.. things are looking weird out there at the burning man.. SERIOUSLY.. get in touch with him and get him evacuated out of there.. only someone with the equipment you have can get him saved.. PLEASE check in on him.. I was watching a video of him stranded there and I was like hold up that is Tuckers Judson.. I really hope he gets out of there safe.
Two things - have you considered flying with ADSB detection and did you know a RC paramotor 250g or greater requires registration, an exam (TRUST) and RemoteID. You don't!
8:18 you know speedflying? A sport that seems to have a similar death-rate to low-proximity BASE jumping? That looks quite similar. I don't know how thin the margins are on those stunts, but if something goes wrong, I don't think you'll have much time to recover. Complacency kills
Very suspect manufacturing if a prop delaminates that easily

To be fair, Tucker was being a bit stupid in doing a 4 mile foot drag in water. That's a lot of water hitting that propeller at high speeds.

Ron mak might need a mak .. and coly.
Bermuda triangle: That tickles... Tucker: It's ok, only 4 miles to go... Bt: We'll see about that....
go back to Jersey!
Tucker holy snikey that's so strange, but worth talking to manufacturer about possible need of improvement to or attention to detail of increased cyanoacrylate to injectionform is there impedence to injectors at factory do they need to augment product adhesive to prop tips? To me, it would seem that propeller tip wouldn't delaminate with water hitting tip. Perhaps set up go-pro camera to cage capturing footage of lower prop tip in same foot drag position, not necessarily so long but enough to see what's happening when you do this in good photo reconnaissance, get clear image of what is happening to your paramotor's propeller tips while you are doing this. Definitely worth the effort to gain function intelligence might be invaluable information to manufacturer and may even save lives. Good read on situation great choice I suppose, should you have stopped earlier? Worth some thought. Is there something more you can add to increase assessment perhaps wrap some automotive painters masking tape around prop tip it's designed not to lift from air and paint but hold & if it fails and comes off unlikely damage and minimal weight ballance change effecting eccentric shift to terminal propeller tip I'm thinking it may reveal drag to tip in a way that's a safe indicator without danger in flight. You know more by far than I do or see what manufacturer does to test their propellers perhaps return propeller for assessment to manufacturer although you have in repair changed what was failing at tip. Best David
