This wss a great video Hero. It captured you doing what you do. I love that truck. if I was still physically able to I would come and drive it for nothing. Such a great old truck. I probably put close to a million miles in one of those 352 PETERBILTS.❤🐘🇺🇸 Why are you worrying about creature comforts when you ride up and down the road in the hot summertime with no air? Come on man😀😀😀You know too many creature comforts is what's wrong with most of these candy asses. I drove B-61 Macks cross country and all up and down the eastern seaboard with no air, no power steering and no air ride or air seat and a 28"" sleeper. Candy asses. That's what you've got for drivers nowadays.
U the man Steve.. You kept a bad situation from being worse.. U handled it.
your video does not suck brother. You were worried about a runaway in that Classic Pete. and it hasnt been ran in a few years as you said. Its all good. You take care of your equipment that is plain to see. Keep on Trucking and God Bless!
Runaway diesels are a scary situation; glad you got it under control
Glad you got it under control brother! Safe travels. Thanks for the content.
I love ole Meller Yeller....The paint.. the engine...all of it. She could be the bell of the ball with hardly any changes.
The first half of this video was a little hard to watch, I was afraid it might end with you having a heart attack, I’m glad you got her figured out! I really like both your Pete’s and I can’t wait to see more on the yellow beast. Take care and stay well!
My '77 Fat cab 352 came with a 1693... Later I switched to a 3406B... Best, most comfortable riding truck ever... Turned 2 a month to California, back to Atlanta, Orlando, or Miami...Produce... Box meat going out to California. Retired in '89... Love watching you and your "Cabin Over"
3406A was a 325hp with a loud turbo, so loud (whistle) you'd hear it all weekend. Had the low pressure pump, but some creative/crazy folks put the B model high pressure pump on it, it would scream with super hp for a while until she'd blow sky high. Great engine if it was respected for what it was. Put an 18 speed Spicer behind it and you were in tall cotton.

I like the direction your going in, gotta keep growing and evolving. I'm glad that your holding onto the yellow Pete, it's in good hands. When time permits I'm sure your gonna get that 352 back on the road and makin $. Imagine that, not 1 but 2 vintage cabovers earning revenue, that's fantastic. Oh, and if i'm not mistaken, I think you hinted something about an APU for Orwell in a video recently, that would be a great addition, help you stay nice and cool and provide the power you need to charge batteries , your laptop, everything. Have a good day driver!
Great video Steve glad you were able to keep your 352 from running away. It's good to see it in storage till your ready to do something with it stay safe Steve.
Yellow and Green... looks like an old I.T. tractor.. One of my favorite trucks was a 1980 353m10. 110 inch cab, 5 color green and silver with a 3406 PCTA, 335 hp. Good truck. 'Axe

Thanks for the video, it was great . I liked the way that you put the camera up in the cab of the old truck and filmed as you were driving . Take care and stay safe out there on the road . 🤗👍❤️💫
19:19 says it ALL about that situation lol..
I actually really enjoyed this video! It was cool to see the old 352 Cabover again, and I totally agree engines that could possibly runaway are very stressful especially if you are unsure what the truck is going to do. I found it all really interesting! You really teach me a lot in all your videos and I hope one day to start driving trucks, and get back into engines again. 👍
Glad to see you making a video with the PumpkinPete!
Great video Steve. Also great seeing the 352 running! Too bad it needs alot of work.. That thing sweet. Definitely like how it smokes easily and sounds great.
You should put some money in the old school cabover and make it a good work truck for a back up, great video keep up the good work God bless from GA

No he needs to put that extra money into Orwell, she could use some new shoes and rims, and other things that it deserves to keep her on the road. Then next would prob be saving up for a trade in on a new or newer trailer within a few years. The other truck is not a otr truck and nvr will be, that should be his project truck that eventually could be a show truck down the road but not ever a otr truck for a lot of reasons
@mikehoncho658
Жыл бұрын
@@6582rg there are a lot of reasons. I'll start with it being very uncomfortable for one and that's ok bc it's not set up like a modern or newer otr truck. It would beat you to death in one trip, another reason is that it's not set up for the power he needs to pull his usual freight, transmission as well could be the same issue. it's just not a truck you would ever consider running more then around your house, or show/play truck
@gregadomeit4020

@@mikehoncho658 that old yellow Peter's probably state of the art when it was assembled. I bet it did many OTR miles. Technology has changed light years since that time. Steve does the best he can with what he has and who knows what's he has in store for that 2 stroke big Detroit.

It gets very expensive to license a backup truck. Cheaper to rent when needed.
Great Job Steve , glad to see your keeping the 352 , like the plan you've mentioned for it , hope it all works out in good time , Safe Travels 👍👍👍👍.
The 352 is going to be one nice project. That Armstrong steering is going to take a bit getting used two. Another great vid FSC. Have a great and a safe day, happy trails.
That ol 352 pete is getting great fuel milage today lol.. keep safe out there 🙏
Love your videos and the colabs with Gentry and sons trucking. I follow both of you and really like all the content
That old 352 is a classic in the trucking universe. I'm glad that you are keeping it and it could be turned into a really nice showpiece truck. You could stretch the frame, that's a real popular thing these days, or you could keep it as a short wheelbase COE, those ruled the highways back when states had shorter semi-truck length limit laws.
Great video Steve, luv to see that 352 restored, and maybe a 372 for your 2nd.rig👍!
There comes a time when situations can make that sucker pucker for sure! You handled it like a true boss. I had a mbe4000 try to run away the other day on a customer truck. When it's time to move in action...your mind is racing like the damn engine😎🤙
I love it good job This video made me feel good when I was feeling low thank you very much you always bring my spirits up when they are down.
well handled buddy, ya never know... ya just never know... good to be prepared like you were there
LOVE IT BRO, I want that old 79! man shes nice! and simple 2
Video was awesome! A major thriller! I enjoy it and knowing I'm not the only one with panic type days😄👍
I love the sound of Orwell’s engine, but listening to Big Yellow today, with the chirping of its turbocharger, reminded me even more of the CAT engines I used to hear as a kid (late 1906s-early 70s). Most of the trucks I was around were Autocars and Mack B, R, and DM series dump trucks and concrete mixers, and the CAT engines were in earth-moving equipment-dozers, loaders, and compactors. Thanks for your videos and genuine Jersey accent!
I freakin love this truck the way it is paint wise and interior wise. I'm sure with some TLC, you'll have a badass rig on your hands! The way it sits and the way it sounds reminds me of the days when seeing a rig like this was common as a Volvo is today so good luck with whatever you choose to do with it because I promise you it will get some looks if it didn't already when you were transporting it In fact, why don't you call it killer bee because of its paint and the fact it stings you if you're not a he man to drive it.

That iconic truck is perfect for you to do a series on sorting it out for reliability and changing the back end of the frame. Please keep any stretch to a minimum. The look and sound are really good already. If James Pretty, Don McCord, and Chad Keegan can find a young driver mad keen on cab-overs, so can you!!
Steve the old yellow Cabover looks Like a Bumblebee coming At Ya ,once You get her straightened Out,& back on the Road She will be dropping a Stinger on a bunch of Her challengers, The VERY BEST to YOU & YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS ...GOOD LUCK ON THE UPGRADES / REBUILD TOO ,MISSOURI PAUL 👍🇺🇸👍👌😎👌 👀👂🤞🤗🌞
My hat is off to you Steve, Take it easy and love your videos.
Glad it wasn’t worse, keep on truckin 🤙🏻
I thought Orwell was in danger lol. Don't scare us like that steve!!
I have to say... nothing beats the old steel....good rigs
Best trucking content on yt, thank you Steve.
31:24 freaked me out with a little Maximum Overdrive vibe until I saw Orwell's headache rack and realized you'd switched to the cargo's in-cab view. LOL
badass video! definitely want to see more cabover content!!
Another thing, I would be really interested to watch you rebuild that whole truck, including that 3406A engine, never watched a large engine like this be fully rebuilt before, would be extremely interesting!

That would be a great survivor truck to take to shows, and hey pull it with Orwell and make it a good showing. I'd love to see it.
Hi Steve I love how straight up you are I'm from the UK and watching this clip and was thinking Tim Gentry has a cool blue truck that might work for a second truck like you were speaking about for a driver and I'm sure Tim could help out with your Pete and you both could get great content etc
I had that happened to me and Jessie was scared to death. It was one of the old dump trucks. We never could really figure out why it did that. We still have it and no issues again.
loved it. Great camera work as always.

Could ways get an old 378 (shorter nose than 379 so it'll be easier to drive for newer drivers) and the majority of them came with pre-emission cats in them. Not to mention they come cheaper than some other trucks. Mines a 2002 with a c12 in it
Just love the 352. Such a perfect truck. Everything about it is the way I would want it.
Hellow Steve good to see you again buddy hope you an your family are doing great an Orwell see you soon
You should put some cash into that old Pete and put it to work fix it up it would definitely look good pounding the blacktop and to top it off once you fixed it up you would definitely get your money back if you sold it

What you said, I couldn’t put it any better.
It should have an emergency shut down blower flap on it but often the pull cable isn’t hooked up or broke .
A Pete pulling a Pete, that must’ve look good going down the road😎
I'd love to hear more FSC Storytime! (the shop video when you installed the new bumper)
I would love to drive that old truck after you get it road ready. I once drove a double wide Pete with a 3406A and a 13 speed with 411 rears. Pulled like a monster. I've driven several cabovers through the years too.
I enjoyed the video, that 352 is so sweet, I like the daytons but some 5 hole budds on the front would be just awesome I think
Hi.I love your truck and it works hard.i recently got to see a 79 western star long nose duel axle dump truck in the woods nature is taking it over fancy paint and still looks good but rusting on top cap..roof i saw its my friends truck.i said hey dude thats a classic.hey said ya well i have other fish to fry hes starting a sawmill company.he said he would take offers for it but he really dont care if it sells.im a semi guy but that dumptruck is cool!!!he says im gonna restore it but i know it wont happen it starts and runs to.not tall and proud like a cabover pete but was cool to see and sad at same time thinking about the history and guys that drove it probaly them guys are very old or passed away makes ya think how proud where they when they got offered that gem to drive?.makes ya think
Quite a battery package , the working space was cramped but it worked out well ! 😗😗😗
Looking forward to the spring.
It is very original, I would only restore it in a fully functional state and it could return to the ring, It is beautiful!, That without ruining it with so much chrome as they do today, That more than good, Some are horrible, This is genuine
The old gal runs more quiet than Orwell. ❤❤❤❤
Good Morning Y'all Howboucha Great Video Like the Mechanical aspect myself keeping whatever your driving running yourself one of the main things in life Love Orwell God Bless You & Your Family
I absolutely love that yellow Pete!! Such a cool color scheme.
Can't wait to see you drive your Old 352 on a load just once that would be cool even if just once it's nice truck
Man's best friend is not named 'Rover', it's name is "Skinner" (valve)... I worked part-time for a charter bus company from '79 thru '94, I saw a fresh rebuild from a Detroit-only shop go into "full fuel" mode, and watched as the shop foreman reached between the blower drive belt to shut the engine down. That ain't no fun!!
Been a distant fan for 6 months or so but this video was one that made me subscribe but what do I no I'm not a trucker!
Man that's a nice classic you need to put it to work and let the other one take a break nice one Memphis TN checking in 👍😊

I am seriously thinking about doing exactly that.
Safe travels. @ 18:00 sounded like a unhappy nest of rattlesnakes
A question that I've wanted to ask for a while. When you start up from overnight how long does Orwell take to be ready to drive. Like air pressure sufficient for safe operation?
them old 3406a's were fun to work on, by the sound of it, ya probably need injectors, and a throttle engine should be fine. least it isnt one of them leaky Detroit v-8's those was the worst on a cold start.
Wow, what a beast. I have a cummins I only exercise twice a year for about 2 hrs and about 100 or so miles. I changed the oil in early 2016. About 1500 miles or so. When should I change the oil. ?
This video is not poop Steve , trials and slugging it out with old iron is great reality tv brother 😊
18:05 I’m watching this video at 5:44 in the morning; I have a hangover; I can do without the buzzing.
Hello from Australia awesome video 👍
Those are two beautiful Peterbuilt trucks you have.
Not much for creature comforts back in 1979. Great video!
hey fsc on those 5.75 headlights on the yellow pete how would go about swapping to LEDs? fabricate something up or do you know of a straight plug and play? i have a 81 freightliner cabover that i can’t seem to find anything that works without mangling my headlight buckets too much
Hi Fsc Trucking nice 352 Pete!!!
Great old Pete! When you get into the rebuild project, would you keep the Dayton hubs, and split rims, to keep it looking original, or update a bit to budds? Always have hated doing brake jobs on trucks with Daytons! Great video! Keep on truckin!
If I ever hit the lottery I want to find an 81 International cab over, and put air rige all the way around, lengthen the frame and put a second cab behind the front cab off like a aero truck or such- on rails so it slides back to let the main cab tilt for work..lol.. Kinda stupid idea maybe but I think it would work.. Then again I always thought using a RV pushout that ran between back of cab to the trailer using all the space between them for a drop down big bed..lol..
U that real ass Guy steve as a trucker myself cut that good as MUSIC back on !! Haha
I must say you have patience
See so many videos of older trucks that are left for years without being started and they always start up straight away can tell these older truck where built to last unlike today
And now we know where the phrase Armstrong Steering originated.
You can convert a 3406pc into a 3406 direct injection. It was a common conversion back in the day that was performed by caterpillar. You should find yourself a peterbilt 372, I bought one last year and it is definitely one of the coolest cabover trucks made. My truck is a enclosed car hauler and not a over the road tractor. I have a 1993 model with a 12.7 detroit and I love it. They only made a little over 700 units during its production run and there is plenty of them out there cheap.
love the american cabovers good luck with it and regards to Orwell
was in Monticello in. last week, and on rt.24 just west of town they had 5-6 old cabover's for sale on a lot.
Just take the cab off and look for a wrecked newer year pete swap cabs.. old school clean look with todayish suspension. I was driving through Denver and some speeder tried to drive under the D o T bumper of a liquid O2 let’s just say he is not an a hurry anymore
31:24 Spookiest transition ever! Where’d you go? Who’s driving! Very good!
I love the cabover trucks especially the yellow one.
Hola Caballero. Ayer encontre' sus videos y son muy buenos como de los conductores de la vieja escuela. Saludos Cordiales desde la ciudad de Quillota en.Chile ( sur america)
Great video
Back in the day, we all had 🙋 🙋 Armstrong steering lol💪💪💪 And if you ran team, you NEVER DARED use your jake, or slammed the door closed!!
I think I want to buy the 352 to have a fun truck to cruise around in!
The Yellow Peril comes out hibernation 🌅. Was that buzzing noise the glow plugs can anyone answer please? Nice looking truck. Thanks for sharing.
17:32 "Rollin'...rollin'...rollin' on a river"
Damn, seem their will be new parts that needs to be put in but suck if that engine would have run away, truck would not have an end but least you got it work right now till you get it to the new location. Your old school petebilt is sus XD, its working smoothly now after you had to beat the thing a little.
Put the biggest non computer cat engine in it or put Orwells engine into the towed Pete and put the biggest non computer cat in Orwell. 8 to 10 inch exhaust stacks on Orwell with the biggest cat .it would sound awesome. Awesome be safe and keep on trucking. Denis from Santa Rosa CA
it's really a nice looking truck
Steve. It would be hella cool too see it return to its former glory of a single axle and either keep the 3406A that's in it or... Shove the 12V you have into it. Not everyday do you see a 12V in a Single screw truck.
