It's always good practice to divide your game where you can into small features that don't take too long to develop

The idea of breaking down the aspects of your game into such simple features is actually golden.

Feature #2: boring. Feature #3: take my money! Feature #13: I want a refund. Feature #45: I changed my mind.

For some reason i was hoping to see mr. fancy top hat to return as a boss looking for revenge for being abandoned but we later discovered it wasn't abandoned

It's the simple features that can go a long way

This channel is so underrated, such a good quality videos and even videos like these you learn a heck tkn about it. For me as a hobby game dev these video's are gold. Thanks for making these videos and keep up the work! :) Would also love to see a bit more in depth of how you created the game with showing parts of code, like how you improved the jumping etc. Been a developer for almost 4/5 years now and I always like to see how other people tackle something and maybe improve myself via that.

Great game man, with the fantastic world of personalization, you can create a lot of custom shit to encourage players to keep playing, like new character trails, backgrounds, tiles and coins designs, etc.

6:51 your phone/computer always has built-in volume controls, so it's useless

this is a nice way to make a game, feature by feature you get closer to finishing it and the progress is real

There's many different ways of doing it, but here's how I did it: I made each hat in the shop a ScriptableObject, that held variables like its name, index, price, and if it's been bought. The shop itself simply has a list of all the hat ScriptableObjects that the shop displays. Then I stored the index of the in PlayerPrefs, as well as a PlayerPref for each hat telling if it's been bought i.e. PlayerPref.GetInt("Hat3Bought") would return 1 if the hat with index 3 has been bought.

I like how he did a feature showcase after he actually did the hat so we just were like yey

Kept getting distracted by the coin bug....4 coins on screen and you've collected 5....a few more features later I think "oh he must have fixed that coin error by now!" checks and now you've got 6 coins after picking up 4! What a legend!

I didn't use a tutorial, I just wrote my own. The camera moves up at a fixed speed, and if the player is more than a certain distance away the camera moves faster until the distance gap has been closed

Me seeing a 3 day game jam after I just got insanely burnt out in one: oh god no keep it away it scares my burnout sensors

I didn't have my usual recording equipment with me so I had to use a free trial of Bandicam, and only realised afterward that its video capture was on 15fps 😅
