Such beautiful surroundings in the strip mines, strip mauls, truck stops. Pavement as far as the eye can see. "There's no there, there."

Highways are lines of communication in classical parlance. They're not designed to be scenic. They're designed to safely and quickly move traffic. You sound like my father 30 years ago. Now his grandbabies are 2.5-5 hours driving and speed is the primary requirement because the destination is the reason for the trip. Scenery is for Sunday drives to nowhere when time isn't a factor.

It could be complete I-69 between Martinsville Indiana and I-465 in Indianapolis Indiana by late 2024. The I-69 will be almost 100% open in Indiana by the end of 2024, except for the Ohio River Bridge between Indiana and Kentucky which will be finish in 2028 as of target date.

US 30 between Fort Wayne and Chicago gets 2x the truck traffic than this route does, but nothing is ever improved on US 30.
