The game was in pre-alpha. If Sony didn't rush them and gave them more time with lot more money then it'd be really good game. This is what happens when there's mismanagement with rushing them.

The game may feel meh rn but when I played this shit as a kid it was amazing I even maxed out everything

This game is an abomination cause it was made by a mediocre studio with little to do with Jak. Naughty Dog began working on it, there are two cutscenes in really early production they made that were leaked and you can still see them on youtube. You can tell that under Naughty Dog it would be a worthwhile experience. The cutscenes even in their unfinished state, feel like actual Jak and Daxter, and Jak had his og voice actor and badass attitude, and not this pathetic scared little boy scout we got in the final game

Great video dude, the first jak and daxter was sooo good so much nostalgia, it’s a shame this is how it ended lol

I’m sorry to break your heart, I just couldn’t bring myself to like this one. I will say I just played Daxter the other day and thought it was fantastic, just shows what could’ve been with TLF.

I'm sorry, what? Daxter got dark eco powers? Daxter was already permanently* (essentially permanent without spoilers for this incredibly old series, lol) turned into an ottsel from falling into dark eco in the first place, and Jak got his dark eco powers from getting controlled injections of the stuff as part of evil experiments in Haven City Dungeon: Spa & Resort while having to get help honing those powers and keep from losing control of himself. But you're telling me, Daxter got accidentally drenched in dangerous and unstable dark eco at the beginning of an adventure for a second time, and he just temporarily turns into a Crash Bandicoot/Taz the Tasmanian Devil hybrid for a couple minutes before going back to normal like nothing happened?

Again, without going into spoiler territory for those who never played the series (which begs the question as to why you're even watching a video on THIS entry in the series of all things. Seriously, go play Jak 1 through 3. It's worth it.), this whole Dark Daxter thing frustrates me. I'll accept lore arguments for why "it just works," but Dark Jak combat/powers were so fluid to control and some of the coolest moments in 2 and 3. You were fast, aggressive, destructive, strong af, and utterly feral. To give Daxter a more prominent solo role as a controllable character, give him a Dark eco supercharge, and then only to make it an unpleasant clunky experience feels disrespectful, if not deeply disappointing.

​@@ItzSweetTrav I think it's only dumb because of how poorly it was executed in mechanics and character acknowledgment/development. After all, between the Precursors and the Dark Makers (and not to mention where the Rift Gate ended up taking them at the being of Jak 2), Daxter getting dark eco powers isn't the craziest thing to have happen. It's pretty telling how many issues people had overall and how dirty they did Daxter with this alone by the fact that Tess doesn't even appear in discussions about the game most of the time.

i bought this game when it came out, i liked it, beat it a couple times, replayed it recently only to realize that i was a very dumb child and easily amused. this game is pure garbage, jak 3 forever

Honestly it’s the worst game in the series but I think it’s still ok at best but it’s not a good jak and daxter game if you get what I mean WE NEED JAK AND DAXTER BACK imagine the original trillogy gets remakes for the ps5 imagine how cool Naughty Dog could make them look

@@SSJB26 I'm pretty confident if they announced that there was an offical Jak 4 coming created by ND, people would collectively go crazy tbh. Hell even just look at how people reacted when Racthet Rift Apart had that render of J&D in it. I just can't believe ND simply ignores the games.

The OG Jak & Daxter game was one of the first PS2 games I ever owned. I remember getting it as a gift from a friend for my 6th birthday 🥲 I absolutely loved that game. The different environments / levels blew me away and still stick with me over 20 years later.

This was actually my introduction to the franchise and I enjoyed it as a kid. But playing it on PS5, once the nostalgia wore off after about 5 hours, my opinion of it plumetted. I didn't hate it, but I didn't enjoy it either. At least I was able to experience the others because of it.

I'm going to say it: I hate this game. Back in the day I was excited about a new J&D game, even if it wasn't made by Naughty Dog, so I bought it. Well, I never finished it. I missed the new characters we met in Jak 2, like Torn and Tess. But, maybe it's good that they didn't make an appearance so that they, too, didn't get butchered. Guess where my copy of this game ended up? On the goddamn flea market.

Jak 1-3 are AMAZING, Jak X I don't like but it's not outright horrible but then this.. this one was bad lol

lost frontier has parts of a good game why'd we all get with this one

I got this game on ps2 when it first came out, played it a SINGULAR time, made it to the section where Daxter transforms and immediately checked out

You did. I don’t like Jak X personally but this one doesn’t even feel like a Jak game for the most part. Like I mentioned in the video if you gave me this with different characters, I probably don’t have much of a problem with it. Specifically as a Jak game though, it’s terrible.
