@electricviking Hello viking! You have to understand a thing about neuralnets. The bot which is runned by a version of the neural nets software can not learn anything by himself. The only way those bots "learn" something is when they get a software update / an update of the weights of the neral net or new architecture and weights of the neural nets. The re-training of the neural nets is done in a training lab which cost billions and they have to use video / sensors data which is relevant for the new situation. The new model of the neural nets then replace the old model. The thing with humans and other creatures is that every one can learn that mean all of us has a training lab in the brain.

Max weight it can pick up and carrying soeed and this with stairs. Max battery life, charge time. Is the ai in the machine or networked back end. What are 1st roles they hope to fill? 2nd, 3rd? Is this version planned for use out in the field, if not this version, how many versions away? Trying to determine if this stuff is 2 years away or 10 or 20 or something in-between.

Unless it has an arc reactor (Ironman) it will not last long on the job before recharge (coffee break). Look at the body - it doesn't have much room for a battery. Hence estimated duration on a charge - 1 hour walking and light effort - even less when carrying a sizeable payload. If used in manufacturing all humanoid robots will be tethered to a power outlet. Fully autonomous humanoid untethered robots are a long way out in the future and powering them is the key. Current battery technology is not sufficiently advanced.

Since the advent of globalism, manufacturing has sought cheap labor. These robots will allow manufacturing to happen where the raw materials are most available or where the consumers are, shortening supply lines, labor and transport costs. The countries which still have large untapped cheap labor that have been waiting their turn are going to get the short end of this particular stick. I see a lot of destabilization of the global workforce coming and it likely won't be pretty. Low and low-medium skilled union and non-union labor is pretty much doomed by these devices in developed countries. Politicians had better get ahead of this wave or there are going to be serious repercussions. Auto unions, I don't see how you aren't utterly screwed by this. The recent strikes and demands for more pay with fewer hours have taught auto execs one thing. Unions workers are bad for their bottom line. If they can replace you with automation, they absolutely will and there are no laws to stop them.

As Elon continues to succeed with his current projects, we will have autonomous vehicles and autonomous robots that build these vehicles. There will be no further need for truck drivers, taxi drivers, or drivers at all. Simultaneously Boston robotics can build their canine and humanoid robots to the correct specifications for the military and police market. The Robo taxis will of course require biometric data to work so that we will know exactly where each human being goes and when they go there. It will be a perfect world.

I can see this along with most other humanoid robots in development total.construction costs and sale price for mass market adoption is not high on the requirement list. The Tesla is getting paired back with each iteration to remove or simplifi servos and complicated metal components. Case in point is the adoption of an elegantly simplified lower leg section with one push pull linear servo.I think Tesla is targeting in on beating all competition for the cheaper mass market small business and home market.

Tesla starting a new bubble for humanoid robots. This announcement reeks of desperation to me. IMO, the second most important "thing" for a humanoid robot (right behind the software) is a dexterous hand with an apposable thumb. Basically, every tool used in human society has been designed around this anatomical functionality. A three fingered hand will not be sufficient long term.

It's frustrating that there is so little information about Atlas 2. The announcement video was only 30 seconds long, so it suggests they still have a lot of work to do before the bot is ready to go to work. Even in the short video there were problems. When it walked off, it wasn't swinging it's arms correctly and it was clanking like a rickety old car. You could also hear a lot of loud cooling fans in the bot, so it must have some inefficient components that are prone to overheating. Still it looks like it could be something special once it's ready.

Boston Dynamics is way ahead of everyone else. Their robots are designed and built to achieve specific development milestones. To address a few statements in the video...yes it took a decade to fully develop Atlas 1, but that is because rather than faking its capabilities with cgi and dancing mimes, they wanted Atlas to be able to demonstrate those capabilities in the real world.

No worries. We won't let corporations take advantage of robotic industrialization. I've finished drafting the legislation that controls robots or AI systems. It will protect humans and limit corporations' greed and uncontrolled behavior 1. The identification system (birth date of robots). A regulatory chip is implemented into the robot for tracking purposes. This chip can be switched off by an independent agency 2. Birthplace and registration that deals with robot ownership/ transfer/ immigration. Corporations need to submit an application for new robots. 3. Tax collection and exemption imposed on robot classification (factory laborer, elderly service, soldier, cop, male or female companion...) For instance, a robot that provides service to the elderly doesn't pay taxes, 4. Human compensation due to job replacement (paid by corporations) 5. Robot annual tax. Corporations pay the tax based on the wealth their robots create and the energy they consume (not based on corporation profits) 6.The robots' right bill (in case they want to marry a human or vice versa).

Lol calling Atlas a "rival" to Optimus is like saying LeBron James is a "rival" to a little league rec center basketball player this is crazy lol The Atlas predecessor was doing double multi platform backflips and nature hikes uphill while a multi-billion dollar market cap "tech" company had to roll their offering out on stage on a gantry during "AI Day" almost 2 yrs after announcing it. This current iteration Atlas did a "Hello World!" introduction Cirque Du Soliel style while Optimus is just now hobbling along lol. No, Atlas isn't a "rival". It's literally a "GOD" in comparison. Maybe Tesla should have made a bid for BD instead of Hyundai, then they would be the leader in this space. Nope, lol Musk bought Twitter instead just so he could flush billions down the drain and unleash all the supervillains and amateur porn stars back into the "Free Speech" arena. This whole scenario should definitely be a college course.

My question is, "Are the moves by "Atlas" spontaneous or directed by a puppet master?" As I understand it, Optimus will be ordered to do a task and will use its own knowledge on how to perform it (but maybe with a bit of initial instruction from central compute). Once a single Optimus has attained that skill, then supposedly all its fellow Tesla robots will know how.

The human body is a bad example of an efficient machine. We rely on ingenuity to get the job done. I cannot understand why you would copy the human body for a robot. We ateady have human, why waste money trying to copy it. Most countries are on the brink of civil war due to corruption & politicians serving themselves, not the people. If the robot starts to replace humans, there is going to be massive political pressure to disrupt it.

How in the world did the US allow Hyundai getting the controlling stake in this company? Biden is crying about the Chinese leading battery tech and the US allows the company producing the most advanced robotics in the US to go to Hyundai in 2021. Anyway it's a stellar buy by Hyundai and ensures they are going to be players going forward in manufacturing. BYD and Hyundai are the only players who are going to be able to compete with Tesla.
