Hyundai need to hear this!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

N community had enough, Hyundai have to do something about it, cause it’s literally turning people down from buying one of those great cars.
Today we stay united and hopefully our voices will be heard, I encourage everyone to speak out and share their thoughts and concerns.

Car wash hasn't triggered mine, but rainstorms have. On my 2nd sensor, got tripeed up last December....four days before reconstructive foot surgery. My dealership ASM is just as sick of this. I warned her I was going to drive in every storm this summer. She said, "Well, if that's what you want to do." I told her it's not what I want to do, but I also can't get stuck on the highway with the kids. Poweflex purple bushings, 6xth Element catch can, no other mods.

I had knock sensor issue. They said it was faulty exhaust and replaced my exhaust under warranty. Then Hyundai said they consulted techs on the check engine for knock sensor and they told them to put "dielectric grease" on my sensor and this has so far fixed the issue. So I am unsure if this main issue was "faulty exhaust" or the sensor itself. It is stock exhaust. I only have SXTH ELMT Air intake.

I don’t think it was an exhaust cause those two things got nothing in common, Im glad dielectric grease worked for you, but I don’t see it as a long term solution honestly 🫤

I use the under wash every time I get a car wash and I spray with the wand under there also and Knock on wood I have never had an issue! I have pressure washed my motor several times to clean it also. Sorry to hear you guys are having issues with this. The key reason for not modifying my car with performance mods is I do not want any issues with warranty work.

That’s good brother, knock sensor issue is just annoying more then anything, but installing performance parts got nothing to do with it unless you just not sure if the dealer gonna say anything or be cool with it, but I see your point 🙂

Hmmm I have a 23 Elantra N, I never bring my car to the car wash and just hand wash my car to save the money. I appreciate letting us know about the knock sensor issue but if you really want a proper detailed wash, you gotta wash the car yourself.

Never had an issue on my 23 and its been a whole year of driving. Seems like they fixed it on my year model. I always use automatic car washes with underbody spray washes. I even drove thru a lot of water before when it rained a lot too.

Moral of the story: stop paying for monthly carwashes, save up for a house, buy a pressure washer. LOL Seriously, though, I've had my car 2 years, it happened once going through a car wash, now I wash it myself and no code yet so far.

Knock sensors should be the life of the car there's no reason why a knock sensor can't last 30 years. The last car I had was a Nissan and I drove for 20 years with the original knock sensor. I don't live in an apartment so I don't have to use a car wash put on power wash my car every weekend if it's nice and I've never had a problem yet

  • @PolishBullitt

Yes you right it should last as long as a car, I guess some of our car are already dead lol, honestly I never heard knock sensor being such an issue. It’s good you don’t have to use a car wash, but some of the people had it fail driving in rain 🤷‍♂️

The knock sensor and the stupid octane relearn issue sucks. Unfortunately Hyundai and Kia's reputation is a PR nightmare. I dont think hyundai is going to do anything about this unfortunately there reputation says everything.

I mean i dont want to bust anybodys balls but why keep going to the car wash touchless? Is that big of a deal to hand wash? So far i have not had any codes pop and i wash my car twice a week. Hand wash at home or a car wash. Getting that knock sensor is simply the drivers fault not hyundai

  • @PolishBullitt

Personally I don’t have time to go to the car wash whenever I want plus taking all the stuff with me to do it, theres always bunch of people on weekends and technically Im not supposed to use buckets over there anyways. I wish I had garage so I could do it, that would be completely different story. The worst time is winter with all the salt and stuff, I just want to flush it out as much as I can that’s why I use touchless, besides car should be car wash proof in my opinion 😉

  • @RedLine_90

@@PolishBullitt i agree it should be car wash proof but its not lol and everyone knows that especially your friend but he still uses the touchless car wash 😂 💀 bro at the car wash u dont need buckets or any of that. Just have $10 cash and use there soap and water. Just dont use their scrubber buy your own soft scrubber. Washing your car for 30 mins by hand is WAY better than going down 500 feet and getting a code then having to find a dealership who has time to fix it that same day or wait 1-2 days. It just does not make any sense to me tbh. Weather its hyundai or not these are performance cars which means they need to be treated as such so knowing you have a knock sensor issue and still triggering it on purpose makes zero sense. Might as well get a SEL model car

@RedLine_90 no he actually stopped using touchless all together, I don’t know what kind of car washes you have in your area, but whatever I got sucks big time and there’s nothing close I could use. I watched youtube videos were people have those great self washes with bunch of different options, but over here it’s not the case, my choices are pressure washer or a big ass brush that’s it unfortunately

Did you friend octane learned the car before issues started at any giving time? Mine it stuck at 15psi no matter how many times I did the octane learning procedure, even full tank of gas on highway at 70mph. Probably mine knock sensor is on the way out

  • @PolishBullitt

Yes he did octane learning before, it was not tight to knock sensor. You can’t even do it once? That’s crazy cause I do it all the time, but it takes little bit of time usually not necessary like the manual says. I assume you on 93?

@@PolishBullitt Ok, so no issue with octane learning before or after the knock sensor troubles. Mine is just 10k miles, always 91/93, and haven't seen 18psi no matter what I do in past 6 months, when was off the lot it hit 18,19 psi very easy . It's a 6 speed manual.

@dacei I have a DCT but what I usually do I drive to work around 30-35 miles one way which around 20 miles are highway and I don’t use cruise control normally only sometimes and I drive between 70-85 most of the time and it takes probably like 2 days to octane learn not like manual says drive for 10-15 minutes or whatever it is. Im usually around 3/4 of a tank in the best case scenario but most of the time more like 1/2 to octane learn
