All those dash buttons look amazing. The only downside is it pretty clear they didn't switch them for right-hand drive vehicles. Not really far out of reach, but pretty apparent if you look at all the less useful features/nobs appearing on the right side.

If only Volvo has put this interior inside their EX30 ! You'd have the near perfect car for us. Love the EX30 exterior styling and the Hyundai/Kia Interiors. Just have to wait for the EV3 or Fisker Pear to come to market as the EX30 is stylist but too small and minimalist and the Kona looks so dull externally, but has all a driver and passengers could need internally.

Test drove last weekend - excellent car, smooth riding, comfortable with user friendly interior. Hard to fault really. Drove BYD Seal funny patter on the road on AWD model but refined, somehow would not go for it. Waiting to try M3 Highland when it comes in

I think the car looks decent from a distance when you can't see the creases. They must have used the same rules as pin the tail on the donkey when designing it 🫣 Also, what is it with square arches, wheels are round, don't get it?

After many months of research I pulled the trigger and ordered the 65Kh base model with the comfort pack. For me the Kona EV was the one that ticked all my boxes.

A good upgrade; still prefer Niro, but Kona has to be on most buyers’ lists in £35-40k category. MG4 is probably it’s biggest problem though, notably cheaper!

just driven the Hybrid Premium, fab car, and i meant fab, but huge waiting list here in Australia 😢😢😢 Still waiting for the EV release...

Conclusion... they haven't and they won't take away all the beeps and bongs. Before people say, ah but EU regs, it has to be like that. No it actually doesn't. There is no EU regs that require a camera pointed at the driver that beeps at you if you are looking at the screens or if you block the camera. Likewise, it isn't required to beep at you and brake in traffic when it thinks you are going to hit the car in front, when in reality you are nowhere near it. In turn it beeped at me on test drive to take a break (after 3 minutes of driving 😂😂). As for the speed limit sign beeping, it beeps alot more than the BYD Seal which i drove yesterday, or the new Model 3 (as seen on UK videos). A beep when changing speed limits is required by EU regs, however, Hyundai have taken this to extremes by making it multiple beeps for everything. During my test drive with the kids, which was a leisurely cruise with the kids, i had the joy of receiving 5 different sets of beeps (driver camera, car in front, coffee break, speed, speed limit), it is the most irritating and distracting car I've ever driven to the point where it's actually dangerous. Resetting all the beeps and bongs via touchscreen menus each time you start the car is a complete faff and isn't practical every time you switch the car on, so buyer beware, this car will beep and bong at you like no other, be prepared for incessant beeping and bonging. This car is akin to the boy who cried wolf, beeping and bonging so much that you'll start to tune out the warnings. Take your money elsewhere, the Kia Niro has the same battery, motor, interior space etc and does none of this beeping and bonging (as it was released pre May 2022). BYD Seal has also implemented a far less intrusive system with much less beeping and bonging.

@NobbyOnCars Yes, BYD are bad for beeping also but not nearly as bad as the new Kona. I drove the BYD Seal for the second time yesterday, i had it 50 minutes, unlike the Kona it didn't have a camera looking at me and didn't beep if my eyes were on the touch screen, it didn't beep at me to take a coffee break, it didn't beep at me thinking I was going to hit the car in front when I was nowhere near it. Like the Kona however It did beep annoyingly for being over the speed limit, it gave one discreet beep when the speed limit changed (Kona's is much louder). The lane assist on the Seal is very poor however, it beeped alot on the M50, quite frustrating. (Turning it off each time required 7 presses of the screen 😬) The Kona is the worst I've driven for noise pollution in the cabin. The BYD Seal would also be too frustrating to live with, so we stopped into Kia Liffey Valley on the way home and bought a Niro EV. On a game of Top Trumps, the BYD Seal beats the Niro EV, however, IMO the sum of the parts produced a better overall car to live with every day in the Niro EV.

Does anyone know the length of the rear space, when the seats are folded

Does it still have a drive shaft tunnel in the back? That makes a huge difference to the use of the middle seat.

Are there any benefits of having the 19" instead of the 17"?

Does anyone ordered the new long range Kona recently? Is the 218hp electric motor with 65,4 kWh battery still available? I ordered a new Kona in Romania and only the 204hp and 64,8kwh configuration is available.

Just started watching. Interested to see what Nobby makes of the incessant beeping and bonging from this car (the one i drove had the most unbelievably annoying implementation of EU regs, much worse than other cars)

Someone needs to tell the designers that 'less is more' - what is it with these overdesigned exteriors ? Also, the reason new car prices are so high are those useless mandated EU 'safety' regulations - they are not free, consumers have to pay for them. Lane keep assist in particular is a massive pain the backside on UK roads !!! Rant over - enjoy your day 😂.

I have an Ioniq, and while I am very happy with it, the bloody bonging can be an annoyance.

Price-wise, it's a King Konga.

Tested model is pretty close to pricing of Model Y RWD - unless you have a button fetish I can’t think of many reasons to pick this.

@@NobbyOnCarscheck out the difference in insurance prices too. For me in Britain the Kona was £800 a year cheaper than any Tesla…

I take it no one told the designers that the back end is awful with those lights stuck on the rear wings 😊. Rest of car looks great especially the interior. Just a shame about the back.

matter of opinion, when one is is a car, one does not see the exterior. If you want sleek, look at the sedans/saloons.

Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro very similar segment. Was almost about to take leap, but realised no spare tyre...after picking up 5 punctures in last year in same North Dublin roads, not for me. Those repair kits are only a temp fix, then need new tyre

Can't take to the looks.

I dislike the front and rear lighting design...It looks like a 2008 Hyundai Accent with a light bar slapped on it front and rear..possibly the same designer, so looks dated and not really good enough.

The front lights remind me of a torch you'd buy in the middle aisle in aldi. Seems a well specced car but looks wise I wouldn't be a fan at all

EV’s are the Betamax of future driving.

It looks like something Ssangyong rejected 15 years ago.

Looks nice, like the physical buttons in lieu of searching through the infotainment for heating controls etc, but the price of it, those stupid beeping noises etc. Nope, I’ll stick to my 12 year old diesel. I’ll leave this and all other overpriced EV’s to the well healed, preachy “green” types (who always conveniently ignore the environmental damage caused by digging the materials used to make the car and batteries from the earth).

@@terrydelahunt842 exactly Terry. That’s why it’s called “PCP” ie Perpetual Car Prison. It costs me about €100 to service my car myself for a basic oil and filter change. Even if I do the brakes as well (€200), that’s still less than the cost of one months repayment on the likes of this and all other new cars. New car madness infects a lot of people. Then they’re left with the monthly repayments for 3-5 years on a car that’s depreciating like mad and will be worth a fraction of what they’ve paid when their five year term is up.
