Gorgeous car, smart technology! Just shut up and take our money already! I own a 16 year old Hyundai, bought it 2 years ago for $800. I wasn't expecting to still be driving it, and falling in love with Hyundai! Sure, it isn't perfect at 16 years and 140,000 miles, but it's pretty darn reliable! Now I wish I had known sooner about the engineering and quality of these cars. I live off-grid on 20 acres of mountain wilderness. One of the biggest problems I've had here with cars is the rodents. We have a species called the Wood Rat that destroys cars, chews wiring and builds massive nasty nests in the engines. Hyundai has a plastic cover for the engine that protects most of the components from rat damage! If I'd known, I would have bought a Hyundai long ago, instead of my 2 Subarus that were both destroyed, eaten by rats! I found out later that Subaru uses wheat, corn and soy to make their plastics, and wiring harnesses use PEANUT OIL to lubricate and slide the wiring into new cars. Might as well print a menu on the outside of the car for the rats! I went to start the Subaru I had for only a few weeks only to find that the ignition wires had been eaten, not just broken, they were GONE! Rats also destroyed my beautiful F150 truck, my Ford Ranger, and my Dodge 4X4 truck. So far, only the Hyundai has survived! Since I live off-grid on 100% renewable solar and wind power, an EV Hyundai is my dream car! I drive 50 miles or less when I go to town once a week, so it would be perfect for me. I could bring my carbon footprint down even more!

With the Hyundai IONIQ 5, I do look forward to ventilated seats, Android Auto, the roomy and comfortable interior, and HUD. Also like reclining seats with foot rest and reclining console for arms rest, all electronic aids especially against collisions, automated parking (Executive version), blind spot cams on dashboard when turning, V2L, sun shades integrated in back doors, electric sunroof shade, wide space available inside with good visibility through the back window etc. Also 5 year car warranty illimited kms (Max 80 000 for Tesla... Reliability issues?), and 8 year battery warranty (same as Tesla).

Hell yeah it is! Much cheaper, and far fewer repairs I bet. I think it's got better styling, too. This is a gorgeous car! Tesla puts too much "flash" and unnecessary gadgetry that only makes their cars more expensive and unreliable, like putting over-sized touchscreens all over the dash that weren't designed to handle the rigors of temperature and vibrations of a vehicle. They've had problems with the glue failing and those screens falling to the floor while in operation. I saw a Tesla that used a video screen with a camera image instead of an actual rear view mirror. NO, just... noooooo! I want an actual mirror, so I can see what's behind me. I wouldn't trust a system that only used camera and video screen. Would be funny to hack some rich asshole's Tesla though, make it look like he's being chased by cops, or monsters!

Love the design, might even buy one. But I'm not doing that camping shit. And get stuck with a dad battery.

I don't think India is ready for a 50 lakh Electric Hyundai yet. Unless Hyundai decides to built this in Chennai plant, this will cost a lot due to import tax.

Ability to plug in solar panels into car battery system would be useful. Ability to use heating and cooling system overnight would be useful. 👍

I mean it’s cool. But then I’m out in the middle of nowhere with a battery at half capacity and the nearest charger over 150 miles away.

You’d be surprised at how many 800V chargers are already within 100 miles of a major interstate and within many parks and campsites. With exceptions of course but the stations are being built at an incredible rate. By the time the Ioniq 5 is out they could have doubled the existing Electrify America infrastructure. Also, with plugshare at worst you end up at some stranger’s house for a slow charge to get you where you need to go. By 2022-23 it will be a different story.
