Hyundai and Kia Steering Wheel Clunk Fix
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I'm going to show you how to fix clucking or clicking noise that may be coming from your steering wheel. On a lot of Hyundai and Kia made vehicles that coupler that's part of your steering assist motor wears out and goes bad which in turn allows for slack and therefore clunking or noise when you turn your steering wheel. In this video I'll show you how to remove and replace it easily.

Love your tutorials. Very thorough. I used one of your old video's to do the timing belt on a 2.4ltr Mitsubishi. I had no surprises. you left nothing out. Thankyou!

Nice work
I had to do that on a Right hand drive Santa Fe, exactly the same but that Pivot Bolt wasn't so easy to get out, had to remove the brake and accelerator pedals. There was also some module in the way which could not be removed but I had to pivot it out of the way. Three tries and many cut knuckles later but I got it right.
I'm so glad that you didn't list the 2016 Kia Sorento. my EPS steering (when stationary) makes an abrupt noise with headlights flickering when trying to get out of parallel parking spot where I need to move the steering wheel all the way to the right.. Very odd behavior. It slips and doesn't let me turn it all the way to the right. Again, Im not even moving or slightly moving and I turn hard-right to give me the maximum turning radius and BAM, it skips and headlights go out then back on. Any ideas? thanks so much, you are awesome!
good explanation thanks
💯 done a ton of these
Great video! Can you provide us with a link to the part you used?
Do you know what the frh for this job is? I see these all the time and send to the dealer cause there’s nothing on Mitchell for it. Would love to attempt it. Thank you
did you have any video when you drill the egnigne cylinder lock in cars?
I had this part replaced in my 2013 sonata around 101,000 miles. Part is cheap labor is not. After watching I would pay a pro a second time.
Calidad, jefe! I have a Forte 2010, but no clunking, for now 😌 and i checked other vids on how to fix problem, and most of the cars are 2013🤦
I received a recall notice from Kia for the steering motor and related components. The warranty is extended out to 15 years and 150,000 miles for this. Is this the same issue?
Awesome info, thanks 🙏🏽
I have a '95 Hyundai, paid $250, less then $1500 delivered from Phoenix to New York 15 years ago, great simple economical reliable car. The new ones have engine probs... mine has 165k

I bought a 2010 accent for a grand in the summer of 2021. Cleaned it up, changed the timing belt and sold it in may 2022 for $2200 plus a 2003 Buick Century with 80,000 miles. I was gonna flip the buick but it's so nice after fixing the a/c it's now my daily driver. I loved the accent but I barely fit thru the door, otherwise I'd of kept it.

Great info!...I have a 2013 Elantra and this clunking problem started at around 60k miles. I found out Hyundai issued an "unknown" TSB about the steering clunk and they extended the warranty for this particular problem for ten years. Took my Elantra to the dealership for the repair last year and they tried to charge me for the repair. I had to show them the TSB and they did the repair in-warranty. At this time, if you have a 2013-2016 Elantra with the steering clunk sound, you should still be able to get the repair done at the dealership in-warranty.

Thank u Bro

I can’t find my input speed sensor for transmission on a 2013 nissan sentra 1.8 I can’t find the locator this I want to change mine out I have trans issues can you help please? Thanks
What an awful job that was to do. Hate those kind jobs. I find it easiest to just remove the seat out of the car, only 4 bolts and a connector or two usually. Really helps to have enough room without boiling your blood 🤣 Glad you got it done though friend 💕👍
Excellent tutorial, shows how it can cost 400$ to replace a 15 cent part🏄♂️🤙

You pay for the labor and expertise. You either like it or you dont.
These newer Kia's and newer Hyundai's with GDI technology are not reliable, so always stick to the older models when possible.

A Dorman part??? It is like asking for a repeat failure!
Is this repair NECESSARY?
AUSTRALIA / AUSTRALIANS Honestly, unless you're very capable just get a mechanic to do this. With the RHS steering conversion they didn't swap the side the carriage bolt for the column pivot from right to left, so you can't access that bolt unless you move the fuse box out of the way, and even then a bracket for the brake pedal framework is completely in the way making it difficult to extract the bolt and next to impossible to get it back in. This is a two man job, you'll want someone manipulating the column whilst another person tries to get the bolt back in, there's absolutely no room to see let alone work. Ask me how I know.
Amazing the manufacturers don't make it out of a more resilient material considering what it takes to get to it. Good thing they saved those 4 cents and passed huge labour costs on to their customers.
@jozuba

The column is not produced by hyundai. Its an other company that sell this to hyundai
@jalmolky
Жыл бұрын
@@jozuba Doesn’t matter where it comes from someone is still cheaping out and there is someone approving it. I think most people would be happy paying a few more dollars up front than having to get their steering column ripped out.

My mechanic says he doesn't like doing this job as its very delicate and scared of Airbag
Jeez I’d live with the clunk before attempting to replace this tiny two bit part
Says he'll put a list, then does not put a list :( pretty sure I hear that clunk in my 2010 Kia Forte. It looks like a lot of tedious work. How bad is it, will it ruin the steering? Honestly Kias are worthless when they are over 10 yrs, is it even worth doing?
Why do they make it plastic or rubber they could just make it iron or copper 🤕
If you don't grease it it'll happen again. And you didn't grease it. Lol
Had the same problem on 2012 and 2014 Camry
oke, i'm 1st
Just don't buy a newer Huyndai/Kai all junk ! Also, all GDI engines.
