Hypermesh Weld Connectors [Spotweld & Seamweld]

Weld connectors is a crucial topic in the pre-processing of BIW and sheet metal components using Hypermesh. In this video, we will take a look at the most commonly used methods to create and realize spotwelds and seamwelds using Hypermesh.
We will focus on 3 different types of spotwelds and assign proper mechanical properties to the weldments as per the connector definitions.
The 3 most commonly used methods to create seamwelds is also shown in detail.

    How to decide the type of connector elements for a particular joint type ?

  • @Aeroswap

    @Aeroswap

    3 жыл бұрын

    It depends on the accuracy of the results that we expect. Using RBE2 causes excess stiffness in the model. Using RBE3 is better but still not comparable to the actual weld. Using acm is better than RBE3 but the formulation used and material properties decide the accuracy. What I mean to say is that the choice of type of weld is completely up to the analyst. Keeping in mind that no method is going to provide 100% accuracy, we must select what is suitable for any particular case under consideration. A simple test case may work just fine with rigid welds. On the other hand, we may opt for acm or other advanced option for a full scale final run. I hope you understand my point!

    Just create a new property with card image PSHELL. Specify proper thickness in the 'T' field and then assign it to the weld component.
