Countries don't give enough power to the UN > crisis happens > UN is too weak to solve the conflict > countries see the UN as a failing institution and don't give it more power > back to square one The United Nations has done great work for the world and I pray that one day it gets the power and reform that it needs to truly unite humanity

The problem is every decision has to be very vague since every decision needs to be approved by the UN Security Council which are all rivaling powers

It does have the power, its just a fundamentally flawed institution. Give 5 states, 3 of which are aligned against the other two, absolute power to veto any bill and you get a useless institution no matter how much power you’ve already attributed to it through legislature. Ever wonder why we never see Israel on trial at the UN for its occupation of Palestine? American VETO, ever wonder why we never see Russia on trial at the UN for Crimea? Russian VETO, Same for Britain for human rights abuses during the Troubles or anything Chinas done since Deng Xiaoping died. Only one who hasn’t abused it is France and that’s because they have nothing to abuse it on
