I'm 70 years old and grew up with all these beautiful voices and groups. It breaks my heart that as we lose one after the other they are not being replaced and young people are turning more and more away from the beautiful songs of praise. Even my granddaughter who sings in our cowboy church band would prefer to sing the newer stuff if given a choice. As far as the beautiful harmony like the Statler, young people turn away from it in favor of wanting to be the only one in the spotlight. 😪

Vestal Goodman has bought me out of sadness on so many occasions that I have lost count. I am in awe of her talent and can’t wait to see her in performing in heaven.

Two of my favorite quartets and my favorite female Gospel singer singing some of my favorite hymns. Couldn’t be any better than this.

Oh, my!! What a glorious sound! The Cathedrals, Statlers and sweet Vestal!! Amazing Grace has seldom been sung better!

I always loved the Statler Brothers. When my husband and i were 1st married we watched the Statler every Saturday night. There wonderful. We will miss them so much. They stopped singing when Harold went to sleep in Jesus. Yes they will surely be missed.

The Statlers can't be beat. They are So sadly missed. Especially since the death of Harold. My Prayers are with the other 3 brothers.

All I know, is when you are feeling down, a good dose of gospel music is sure a good way to pick your spirits up. Vestal Goodman is a sample of Angelic Music. Just watching her you can see her beautiful spirit. The Jordonaires, The Cathedrals, J.D. Sumner and all the greats. I put my headphones on and tuned out all distractions.

Many of these Gospel Quartet singers have gone on. But I am still listening in June 2020. This is anointed words of GOD!!!!!!!!!!

Love them all but the Statlers are a favorite for sure.

These are songs my Mom used to sing in Northern Ireland in the 1950s when I was growing up--and which led me to seek God.

TRULY MISS VESTAL GOODMAN AND THE CATHEDRALS AS WELL

She can sing. I really enjoyed these groups singing together.

I used to sit with my Mom listening to Vestal and still today I love hearing her voice 🙏❤️

I can’t think of any other people I love to hear sing more than these greats!

I love the way they did Amazing Grace. Nobody will EVER take the place of Vestal Goodman!

I'm a huge Cathedrals fan....but honestly, you can't beat the voice blending of the Statlers.

Only the late great Vestal Goodman could hold her own with two top notch quartets! RIP, Vestal....I so love to hear you sing still. My mom used to take me and my sisters to the Veteran's Memorial Field House in Huntington, WV anytime the Happy Goodmans were singing.

Here it is, a beautiful Sunday morning and this video fits in so nicely.. The passing of some of these folks kinda saddens me but I know they're in a better place. Nice that we have videos like this to remember these folks by...

I love Gospel music. Grew up on this and bluegrass gospel music. It all is Spirit filled and Vestal is my all time singer. Heaven has them in it's choir, Praise God!!!

Vestal had one of the prettiest voices I've heard in years! Now that voice sings in Heaven, with George and Glenn from the Cathedrals!

Listening to Statlers singing "Amazing Grace"...back in the early 1970s when my wife & I were in our 20s we sang in a Gospel Group called....Amazing Grace!! This just brings it all back to me...we loved being able to serve God in our own little way....Great days!!

I totally agree with you. The Statler Brothers have always been one of my favorites. The Oak Ridge Boys are a favorite, also. They are up there with The Cathedrals; and I didn't start listening to them until about a year and a half ago.

Best there ever was thank God we have there boys sounds like them an funny to they live on like to them in up michigan some day I seen there dad's in the 70 s. Great show lue was with them. Jim is good an we like him to he is still doing an sounds good glad he's out there yet love to hero. ? Family mis him but he live on in all ways

i have been a dedicated fan of the Cathedrals and the Happy Goodman family most all my life.

I remember when this episode came on tv! Please find and upload the segment of Vestal and The Statlers sing I Wouldn't Take Nothing For My Journey Now. That was fun to watch. And Jimmy Fortune showed off a little bit on how high he could go.

I once asked Ernie Haas if he ever sang with Vestal. He told me he did once in a tribute to the Statler Brothers. He suggested I look on KZread...but I never could find it. Till now! Thanks so much for posting.
